Won't Go Home Without You
editA "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Won't Go Home Without You, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - Fine, but I am still not convinced that we should have a separate article at this point. If you disagree, please follow instructions above. --Tikiwont 09:48, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
deletion of my page
edithi there, you deleted my page for teh colloquial term "pure sex". iw as wondering what was the problem. this is not a joke or a hoax. it is a real word, that i have come up with. i think it goes along with other colloquial or slang terms already in the database. thank you Crazilazigurl07 01:40, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not for things you make up one day. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 01:44, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi u deleted my term pure sex. it is in fact a colloquial term. what sources or proof do i need to have this page posted correctly. thank you Crazilazigurl07 08:48, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- If you can provide reliable sources that it is a widely used colloquial term, then it might merit an article. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 17:29, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Th Picture6023.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Th Picture6023.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:12, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Re: Deletion od "Michael Madden" Page
editThe Michael Madden was not deleted, it now functions as a redirect to Maroon 5. I ran across this article after another editor nominated it for speedy deletion ([1]). After reviewing the request and the article content, I noticed that there really wasn't very much biographical detail to provide a solid basis for an article. There was no indication that Madden was notable outside of his involvement with Maroon 5 and I did not see potential for creating anything other than a small blurb (kind of like the one at [2]). The article, however, was never deleted, and all of your contributions are still in the revision history. You are free to revert to your old version of the biography. That will not stop other editors from nominating it for speedy or WP:AFD regular deletion, but those are formal reviews that will give you plenty of opportunity to present your case. I doubt that an admin will choose to speedy delete the article, but I suggest that you spruce it up a bit if you want it to remain. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 20:29, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Will Hauser
editI took a look at this page. What it mostly needs are references to third party unrelated published sources talking about his work--reviews, etc. (not blogs)DGG 21:55, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Let me mention that we really appreciate your asking advice about your pages. It would be good if more people did so--the goal is not to delete pages, but to improve them. People here are generally glad to help when asked. DGG 21:58, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not an expert on music-- so this is general, applying to all WP articles, including music -- but for specifics, see WP:BAND. Actually, the refs to both Will Hauser & to Street To Nowhere. need some fixes, in ways I do know enough to explain. First, the easy part. When you make reference from one WP page to another, you make them in one of two ways: if the other subject is mentioned in the article, you just make the link with square brackets. If the other subject is not mentioned in the article, you add the links under a section header saying ==See also== , which goes before the other references. But one WP page is not authority for another as far as notability is concerned.
- Second, links to external web sites maintained by the subject or related to the subject are not references for notability--see WP:RS. They can be used for uncontroversial details--when something was founded, etc. They go in a separate section called ==External Links==, placed after the other references. The very weakest sort of a website is myspace or similar sites, because it is known that people often exaggerate the truth at such places. Sites from publishers, record producers, etc. are a good step up--they are at least professionally maintained.
- The article in SFGate is a good reference, but it has to be formatted formally. There are 3 or 4 different acceptable ways here, outlined in WP:CITE and its complex & confusing network of subpages. Best way to learn is to see how others do it, but many of the ones in WP are not in fact correct by current WP standards. The basic principle is that for an online edition of a newspaper or magazine, you cite the newspaper primarily, giving a link to the web version where you saw the article. The article is reliable because it was in the SF Chronicle, a major newspaper, not because it was on the web. Newspaper web sites often contain a blog of readers opinion and so on--those are not reliable sources, because anyone can write anything there. You will probably need something beyond that one article, but from the article on the band it would seem possible at least for the band. A good place to look for hints about where to find them is the web pages maintained by the subject. For any creative artist or performer, look for reviews.
- I formatted the article on Hauser. Now see what you can do with the one on the band. DGG 20:38, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Including an article on Wikipedia
editRe: [3]: In order for an article to be included on Wikipedia, there must be reliable published third-party sources that focus on that topic. Without such sources, a neutral, verifiable, encyclopedic article on that topic cannot be made, so the article is, sooner or later, deleted. Articles on topics that are not independently notable are often merged into related articles, such as an article on the band. Also, note that titles like "(musician)" are not added to an article unless there are multiple topics with the very same name, such as multiple articles with the same name "Michael Madden". Otherwise, articles reside at the proper name. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions for more information. —Centrx→talk • 00:21, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
