Hello Green Giant, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:SwatFlag.gif) was found at the following location: User:Green Giant/sandbox/Historical regions of Pakistan. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Main Page/FA Islam
Thank you. As expected, the appearance of this always-troubled article on the main page has proven a serious magnet for last-minute POV attacks (even from established editors) and vandalism. Additionally, there are several banned users in this space with a very large number of socks; it is possible that we are seeing sleeper socks being sac'd for the occasion. Please keep an eye on this page if you can.Proabivouac 11:34, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
Template:Pakistan
Hi, referring to your post, I actually created it to facilitate infoboxes. I wouldn't mind if you feel the name is hindering creation of any better template. Otherwise, I don't see any reason for not keeping it :) See for example, Template:USA. Let me know your opinion. Cheers--IslesCapeTalk 00:09, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
With regard to this particular article, I'm working on cleaning it up after some consultation with the original author. It'll likely still need plenty of attention when I'm done (I'm no expert on Pakistan, and my usual activity here is vandal fighting and speedy-tagging, not copyediting), but I hope it will be a vast improvement over the POV morass that was there before. Take care. --Finngall talk 16:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

- Well, if you want to help with the Paris article - it's just lost its GA status because of a lack of citations -, all the shennanigans seem to be out of the way now, and that since months, actually. I have little time to contribute these days, but for the citation work I guess I can pitch in from time to time - it would be a pleasure to work with you there. Perhaps also we could talk about the article's overall flow/coherence - it would be great to have your opinion on that. Anyhow, happy editing, and cheers. THEPROMENADER 06:14, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Semirechye to Zhetysu
Hi, Green Giant! I undid your last actions related to Zhetysu-Semirechye. Zhetysu is a historical name given by the people who lived in that territory for ages. Historical roots of Zhetysu go down in depth of the centuries; this place is considered to be area where Kazakh nation appeared, the heart of Kazakhs culture. However, the name Semirechye, which came only in the 19th century, is just Russian translation of the word. By the way, Semirechye article has been moved to Zhetysu. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KentJR (talk • contribs) 17:23, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Gujar Khan
Hi, Green Giant! I hereby inform you that I came on this page to make long listings small, and I was just starting my editing and meanwhile you interrupted me. I am here in Gujar Khan and I am also responsible for All Domain Registrations and Data Protection of Gujar Khan online News Papers, I have received many requests to make corrections on this page, also District government personals advised me to do this, and I was also thinking to do this myself since last three months. Now tell me what should I do? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikipedianpk (talk • contribs) 14:25, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- I am sorry for interrupting you but your edits replaced a lot of work to keep the article concise. If you are doing these edits as part of your job, then I would ask you to please avoid editing the article because it is a conflict of interest. Inform all the government officials who asked you to edit like this that Wikipedia does not permit officials to act in this manner. As far as the article itself goes, I am sorry to tell you that it shouldn't contain long lists of which company has offices there, or lists of which people live there. It is essential that the article mentions notable people who are really famous outside Gujar Khan, for example the three soldiers who received military medals. It isn't Ok to list every Army officer who lives in Gujar Khan or all the journalists from there. I tried to be reasonable by including people like the ministers of government etc but unless any of the other people wanting a listing are really famous, they should not be listed here. It is also not acceptable to list absolutely every bank that has a branch in Gujar Khan unless they are really famous. I hope that clarifies things. Green Giant 14:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- One other issue is verifiable information. Gujar Khan Online news papers is not something I had heard about before but if you could find references from other reliable sources to support the information in the article then that would be more useful. For example if you could find an online official source which gives the population of Gujar Khan. Green Giant 14:44, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Spelling for Paris
Aren't wikipedia pages meant to have a standardised version of English? The earliest page used "centre" and "organised", and the talk page supports changing the American variants. I haven't been on wikipedia too long and I would like to know why Paris should have some "centers" mixed among the more numerous "centres". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swedish fusilier (talk • contribs)

Unsigned message about Korea
well looks like you have been watching me for a while, maybe you are administator, or maybe you are not. but whoever you are, you just worried too much my business. let me tell you one thing, the history of korea is fake one on this website, i want to say i don't want to see this fake and bullshit histoy, and all the reference are mainly come from korean website, the percentage of truth is doubful, they can bullshit whatever they like. like metal-moving printing tech in the tech and science section are totally lie, if you are free, i wish you to go to google and search, i think you can find out the right answer, it's CHINESE who invented it, or if you are rich you can go to asian, like japan, south asia, you will also find out the right answer in their library or museum, we CHINESE invent this, can spread this to their countries. and if you want to know more, i am willing to hear you with my email why_880611@hotmail.com i just take my responsibility to fix it, because i know you won't do it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Why 880611 (talk • contribs)

well, after i read your message, i got a few thoughts. firstly, if your haven't watched me or aren't administrator, how could you notice i vandalized that particular page, or it's just so happen you are watching same page with me at every particular time i am doing that thing. maybe the senario is whenever other person editting staff, your computer will notice you.
secondly, if i upset you with my anger, then i am awfully sorry, because you misunderstand my real personality. i never show the anger to unfamiliar person, because i knew that's rude. however if you can't understand other person's real thought, just keep calm, because it's rude as well, i only treat this action with wry smile. however i have sense some anger here "If you have any evidence to the contrary, then the onus is on YOU to provide the references. Don't just tell me to Google for it, present your own reliable sources."
thirdly i think it's pretty much out of your duty if you are not administrator, because i create this account, and i think i have right to personlize it if i don't want those worthless information to be left in my message box. on the other hand i haven't learnt it will breach the rules if i wanna delete them, or could you help me to find them.
at last, forward to the main theme we are talking here. i am a Chinese and i think i knew better than you in the asian history about korea. so i just put the some comments on it, also delete some fake one. and i will send you proof when i have free time after my exam. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Why 880611 (talk • contribs)

Hello, GG!
Just wanted to say thank you for updating my entry "official languages." However, is there any possibility to take off word Official, and leave just "languages." Because there is only one official language, or we can say Official Language - English, and in next table National Language - Urdu? I tried but it did not work. Hi there
Since you seem like the Real McCoy (and not just another POV warrior on a South Asia-related page) and you seem motivated, why don't you go ahead and reduce the pre-1870s history. I have too many other things to work on right now to pay more than passing attention to History of Pakistan. I trust you will keep my concerns, and those of user:Tombseye and user:IP198, who are the two other people who have worked on this article, in mind as you make your edits. You might want to leave a post on their talk pages. I probably won't participate further in the discussion on the Talk:History of Pakistan page, but if you have any questions, or need any help, please leave a post on my talk page. All the best, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 13:55, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry, about your catastrophes, but glad to have you back. No, I'm not put off at all. I hadn't worked on the article in a long time and had no immediate plans to, and I agree that inertia had set in because of the ideological battles. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 14:08, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again. I wanted to mention that as you condense the article, you'll soon (if you haven't already) deal with the surfeit of images (relative to the text). You can, of course, choose to remove the images, or, every so often in the text, create a gallery (as in the case of maps in one of the later section). There is a third option, a new one, that is being tried on the India page and that I shall be trying on some other pages as well and that is to rotate images on a daily (or even hourly) basis by the use of a template. I can create such a template by copying the original one created by user:Saravask. So, for example, if you have, six images for IVC and the Vedic Culture and only room for one, the template would rotate the six images, so that different ones would be displayed on different days (or hours). If you are interested, please let me know. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 16:58, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Your reduction looks like it's coming along good, although I think you could reduce more. I left some comments on a subpage I created: User:Fowler&fowler/History_of_Pakistan. Nothing much, just some obvious redundancies (I think). Also, "The Golden Age" is a (mildly POV) term of Indian History; probably best to replace it with something neutral like "North-western Kingdoms." Will get to the template later today or tomorrow. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 18:41, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- PS One more obvious reduction, which you might be contemplating anyway, is to only have sections in the pre-1870s material (, i.e. combine all the subsections, as you did in the Bronze Age). And perhaps also change Golden Age to Greco-Buddhist Period (rather than North-western Kingdoms). Fowler&fowler«Talk» 18:58, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you don't mind, in about five minutes, I'll add the rotation template and reduce some of the clutter. I'll first set it to hourly rotation, so that you can see what it feels like and eventually set it to daily rotation. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 16:05, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Templates
It is important (GFDL etc) to preserve the history of templates that had a significant amount of content (not mere formatting) and were later merged into the country articles by copy/paste - consider moving these into a subpage of the talk page of the country article rather than tagging them for deletion.—Random832 21:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Links
I'm very sorry if you feel that my links were inappropriate. I've read the guidelines and don't see them to be. While it is true that the site is mine, the purpose of linking here isn't advertising but rather to provide a resource that isn't really appropriate to incorporate into the pages here. I know that links on Wikipedia do nothing for increasing search stats. That wasn't my goal either (far better ways of doing that exist anyway). My site, although supported by advertising, is not a commercial site. Also, linking to a site with advertising isn't against the rules. The site was created out of frustration when trying to find a resource that provides accurate cost information for countries I wanted to travel to. Everything I found was outdated, inaccurate and required payment.
That having been said; do I need to justify linking it on every page I think it would be a good addition to? If so, it's just not worth it. As stated, I'm trying to provide a resource, not trying to advertise. I only wanted to make people aware that the resource was available.
I truly am sorry if I offended you or anyone else that puts so much into this site. I only ask that you look at this from my perspective for a moment and provide any constructive feedback you feel appropriate. Costofliving.in (talk) 05:53, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Editing Karachi
I have edited the Karachi article to take out the possible chance of a misunderstanding...please do not just take out someones contribution because you feel like it is not correct. Tell the user how to better their contribution. This website is not owned by you, it is a community of people who share their ideas, and you cannot stop them without a valid reason. Keep that in mind. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.243.214.197 (talk) 02:51, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Also, there is a hyperlink on the second largest city phrase for a reason. When a reader clicks on it, they understand that it is not the second largest urban area but the second largest city. Just because it confuses you doesnt mean it confuses everyone, a fact is a fact, Karachi IS THE SECOND LARGEST CITY IN THE WORLD.
IT IS FACTUALLY THE SECOND LARGEST CITY, HOW IS THAT MISLEADING????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.243.214.197 (talk)
