Help request

edit

I would like to update the (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Michael_Barnett) page to R. Michael Barnett. I created a template for a stub name change request but don't know what I can do meanwhile or if I made the template correctly. Cruzaps (talk) 19:30, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

You did not. The proper way to do a move request is at the talk page using {{Requested move}}. I have put a blank request at Talk:Ralph Michael Barnett#Requested move 3 December 2021: please replace my comment (the text starting with Bare move request...) with your rationale for moving the page. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 20:22, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help Primefac! I truly appreciate your timely response.

Snezhana Abarzhi

edit

Hello, I'm David Eppstein. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Snezhana Abarzhi, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you!

In particular, your edits removed all third-party references from the article, leaving the biography in an unreferenced state likely, if maintained on the long term, to lead to the deletion of the article. Do not do that. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to properly cite sources, and follow the existing citation format per WP:CITEVAR.

PS I understand you are somehow associated with the American Physical Society? Please note that it is a requirement of all Wikipedia editors that they declare their conflicts of interest; see WP:COI. This is especially true if you are paid by the APS to edit Wikipedia; paid editing is allowed in some circumstances but must be declared. Additionally, note that promotional editing is forbidden on Wikipedia; see WP:NOTPROMO. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:54, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi David, thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. My name is Delia and I work for the APS. The person whose page I was editing contacted me directly to request these changes. Unfortunately, I dont have experience editing these pages and kept running into trouble when editing the references section. For my next steps I will declare my COIs and then attempt to follow the reference template before attempting to make the persons requested edits. Cruzaps (talk) 17:57, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
      • I would like to disclose my role does not specifically edit wkipedia pages for our members but this is something I personally decided to support this person with Cruzaps (talk) 17:59, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please take the responsibility to check that
        - All new text is not clear, neutral, and not promotionally worded
        - Every claim in the article, including both the ones that were there before and the ones you add, has a footnote to a reliable source
        - Every claim is verified by the source that footnotes it
        - You are not removing any validly-sourced relevant claims
        - You are not adding indiscriminate lists of publications and the like —David Eppstein (talk) 18:22, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you David. I'm learning editing was not as easy as I thought. I will try again tomorrow. Cruzaps (talk) 18:24, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
