I seem to be on another cycling tour GA review run! I've reviewed this article, and placed it on hold pending resolution of some small concerns. Cheers! Resolute 18:39, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

S'alright. Computer problems happen, it can wait on hold until you are able to address the review. Thanks, Resolute 15:02, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello, my former colleague

I hope you are well. Somehow for me, the Giro just means "Wikipedia" so here I am. But I don't think I'll be able to help too much with coverage. I've got my own website now, as you may remember, and it's just starting to take off. I don't have the time nor dedication for Wiki anymore, and I doubt I ever will again. But you know, we'll see. I did this regularly for more than four a little over five years, so it's kind of in my blood.

I haven't really kept up too much with bicycling this season. Volleyball has been a greater sporting mistress than I ever could have imagined. Make no mistake though -- I am fulfilled and happy. I did manage to catch a little of the Tour of Turkey last month, and a couple stages of the Tirreno-Adriatico, but overall I haven't kept up with it. There's just something about the Giro, though.

Anyway, hope everything's going well for you. Keep up all the great work :) Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 07:32, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Bad luck

To those mighty Wolves. My commiserations :( I thought I'd leave it a day or two before welcoming you to the brave new world of League One... So who's being blamed? Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:37, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

I always hang on for the mathematical certainty, even if it's longer odds than Orient winning the cup! The similarities with Blackburn are quite concerning – they were 4th when Kean was "forced to resign" and then they became a bit of a joke (if they weren't already). Wolves suffered the same problem – one average manager after another, with none of them allowed to settle in properly. Managerial merry-go-rounds never, ever work. You're right about the players – they had the quality to stay up even with no manager at all, but it seems they didn't want it enough. They're going to fancy League One even less, and there are League One sides who will kick fancy Dan players like that off the park for fun, so a new broom may be required if you're to bounce back... 2013 Giro, Classification leadership

I don't see why the method used in 1989 or 2011 is the reference as to how this situation should be dealt with and can be considered automatically "the right method". Moreover, I find your comment stating the alternative is 'nonsense' a bit insulting. IMHO it makes much more sense to have an annulled stage appear more clearly and span it over all columns. When the stage is voided or neutralized (but the participants actually ride (part of) the course), then yes, the jerseys would stay. My two (non-)cents. Pelotastalk|contribs 15:15, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Oh yeah, definitely! Haha, I'd never used them before. They're handy, but somehow a bit corny. I suspect there may be editors who use them all the time. I resisted the temptation to give Olavo braga whatsisname a big lecture on flags... Bretonbanquet (talk) 11:51, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

For sure, they're probably meant to "encourage new users" or something, but I shan't be doing that haha... Yes, Jackett's a decent manager, providing he's given enough time and all that. Perfectly capable of at least getting you out of League One (runners-up to Orient of course). Norwich and Southampton went straight back from L1, through the championship to the Premier League, so you never know! Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:28, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Hahah! Yes, I wonder what happened to that guy, he was a real source of good quotes! I think League One is a league in which you just have to let the manager do his thing and trust him. Certain types of player have to be brought in to deal with the likes of Crawley and Stevenage and their massive neanderthal defenders. Jackett will know all that, so it won't be a surprise to him. Moxey certainly seems to be more of a hindrance than a help – anyone with a wife called Babette can't be trusted. I can't advocate betting on Orient, unless you want to bet on them beating Sheffield United and Wolves, and then losing to Shrewsbury and Oldham! Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:47, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, a clean start on the pitch, plus your new manager, and you'll be fine. Just so long as Moxey takes a bit more of a back seat! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:40, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
It can always get worse, ask Portsmouth! Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:44, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

FIA WEC drivers

I saw your additions of the Category:FIA World Endurance Championship drivers, specifically to two people: Scott Tucker (racing driver) and Simon Dolan. I think I might have a problem with these two and more like them - Although they participated in an event on the FIA WEC schedule, namely Le Mans and Spa, they were never entrants in the series itself. Their participation was on an invitational basis. Extra entries are allowed in the FIA WEC, but unless you're a full season team, you're not really part of the FIA WEC in terms of points and championships. So I think a prerequisite for the category might be that one is actually participating in the series, and not simply participating in an event in the series. The359 (Talk) 01:39, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Well I know for instance that Jota ran the Spa round of the FIA WEC, both this year and last year, as a warm-up to Le Mans. So this invitational nature extends beyond Le Mans. However it feels odd to include Dolan as a FIA WEC competitor just because he ran in two of their races. So even if they showed up later in the year for some strange reason, I still don't think they'd be worth including. However, if Dolan were to, for instance, jump aboard the Greaves Zytek for a later race, then he'd qualify for the category as he'd be awarded points by the FIA for driving for a full-season participant. Tour de France

Hi there. Last year, you provided superb summaries of each day's racing in the stage by stage articles. Is this something you are planing to do this year? I've started the articles and will try to complete the "previews" tomorrow. It's a pity that, so far, no one has created the stage profiles on Commons. Also, the map of the route is not as good as last year's. Hopefully, someone will create a map in the same style as previous years. I'm off to catch three days racing next week - I'll be waving the Union Jack for Chris Froome and Cav. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 16:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

TemplateData is here

Hey Cs-wolves

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you

Andrey Kashechkin photo?

Hi - I just edited Andrey Kashechkin to include an image in the infobox, and it's of him in Astana team colors, but is a six-year old image! There are, I think, five images of "Kash" in wikimedia commons we could draw on: the one Astana shot and then four Lampre pics. The Lampre ones are higher-resolution and one of them is quite well-composed imo, but of course Kash no ride for dem nomore! Can you help me on Kash's talk page discover consensus: should we use the old Astana image, or a nicer, newer Lampre image, even though he's not on Lampre anymore?

Let me know your thoughts! Grazie! Azx2 19:03, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I just see that you changed every GC boxes edit i done before. Is it vandalism? I see all the rules and the edits that i've made were all correct. I've talked with the first editor to place them on wiki and it doesn't violate any polices. So, why you must change if they are right? I don't understand. I've put it up for GAN, along with Death of Tom Simpson, so I'll have a head start. Your stage summaries for the Tour were certainly missed. I hope they get done by someone eventually, as it was a very memorable race. Doing it on holiday is something else mate. I'm looking forward to Poland as well, some big names will be there. Not sure what difference the cut will make though. BaldBoris 00:18, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Cosmic football

Forget sexy football, Orient have developed the kind of football that everyone will be copying soon. *cough* Good result though, if a slightly hype-y Barry Hearn special fixture! That's actually pretty cool that Orient/Wolves falls on two prime dates. Either they received the cheque I sent them, or the fixture bureau expect us to be the top two this season. Who are we to disagree? ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 03:07, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Hahaha... yes, that's right, the Cosmos have never played a league game, and it showed, apparently. What, wouldn't you want Wolves to be promoted as runners-up to the mighty Orient? I'd consider it a privilege! ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:05, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure we can allow it to be the other way round... something about our cosmic destiny :) haha the name that stuck out in the Cosmos team was Marcos Senna, although he is getting on a bit. Most of the others were US league journeymen, plus Jemal Johnson, who apparently used to play for a certain Wolverhampton club. Small world! Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:35, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I was surprised too - enough to check to see if there wasn't another Marcos Senna trawling around somewhere. They must have thrown some serious money at him. It's funny how some seemingly average players go over to the US and do quite well. Orient had Simon Dawkins on loan from Spurs, and after they crocked him while playing against us in a friendly (seriously), he recovered only to prove himself fairly useless. Then he was off to the States, came back and played in the Premier League for Villa. Strange. No doubt he'll end up haunting us while playing for Brentford or something. ALL of our rubbish ex-players do that. Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:06, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
That's interesting, I've often wondered about the wage cap over there. Do they find ways around it, with sponsorships, endorsements or even dodgy deals, or is it all out in the open? Or is the way of life over there so attractive that all these ageing top players end up there? I guess perhaps Senna might not have earned more in Europe, but it's a real step down in football terms. I'm not sure these sides could cut it in the Championship, and some would struggle in League One. Did Henry and Becks really make any difference to the game's standing over there? Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:48, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Haha, that made me laugh :) I'll enjoy Arsenal winning nothing again this season (famous last words) with or without Mr Suarez. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:49, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
I'd agree with that. Arsenal and Liverpool are a step behind. Intriguing that Chelsea are favourites; maybe it's the Mourinho factor, plus people seem to accept that Moyes will take time to bed in at United. Suarez is a liability, despite his undoubted talent. What are the odds on another ban following this one? ;) Orient at 8/1 to go up seems like a good outside bet to me. 33/1 for the title is definitely worth... 50p! Wolves favourites? Bretonbanquet (talk) 01:14, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
Hopefully it'll be a really close season, there is at least potential for that. Mourinho definitely knows what he's doing and I think the bookies might be right and he gets off to a good start in relation to the others. They really do look like some decent players there. Those are very low odds for Orient and Wolves to go down. Orient should be closer to 10/1 and Wolves more like 100/1. There's basically no chance of your lot doing a Portsmouth, barring a financial meltdown. Those Cup odds look fair enough – Wolves in the JPT, eh? First time? If you take it seriously, you should breeze through it. Many clubs just play the kids or the reserves in that trophy. Low crowds, very little interest! Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:51, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Yes, if I had to put money somewhere, I'd put it on Chelsea at the moment. But I'm tight when it comes to betting! Those League One odds are interesting – I'd say MK Dons are worth a punt to go up, they're always there or thereabouts, and I feel that Shrewsbury will go down. The second season for clubs promoted from League Two is always tough. And for the JPT Paint Pot, we usually play our kids until we get towards the business end of the tournament (if we get that far) then we start taking it seriously. League Two sides sometimes take it a bit more seriously. Wolves might decide they want to spend every effort on getting back up, which is understandable. Orient have Coventry in the first round. Do we know where they're playing their home games yet? Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:22, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

If MK Dons can be consistent, they'll go up. Brentford can be a good side, but we don't like them so I can't say anything nice about them ;) It's a shame about Coventry; as usual the fans suffer for the failings of the men upstairs. Or 'the circus upstairs' as legendary Orient manager John "Bring yer Dinner" Sitton once called them... Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:08, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
You may well be right. And I think all real football fans look at Coventry with a lot of sympathy – nobody likes to see a good club in that kind of state. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:54, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Definitely, and Aldershot. But surely nobody has more bad luck than Mark Webber?! Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:54, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Couldn't agree more. I'd love Webber to really stick it to Vettel at some stage, hopefully when Vettel most needs the points. I think Vettel got pretty short shrift from Kimi about that move, and der kleine Prinz already wanted to forget about it even before the podium was over. I also think Grosjean got a pretty raw deal overall. I know he's a bit ragged, but two penalties? Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:48, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
If Formula One is not careful, they will discourage spirited driving and push drivers like Grosjean away to other series. He is exactly the type of driver F1 needs, and he seemed genuinely perplexed by his penalties, and I can't blame him. The Button thing was a pure racing incident, and even Massa said that Grosjean's pass on him was fine. Brundle misses a lot, and also seems to forget that he was a pretty ordinary driver himself. The comparison between that Grosjean/Massa pass and the Marquez/Rossi pass is an important one, I think. It really sums up why casual fans find F1 a bit tedious and hard to fathom, and why MotoGP is increasingly seen as the best quality motorsport around. Instead of worrying about interactive TV and going to Outer Mongolia for a race, F1 needs to go back to square one and reward good racing and cut the endless rules and regulations. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:24, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
Yep, the penalties are hugely inconsistent, and there's a nasty tendency to pick on a driver if he's been involved in a few accidents lately, e.g. Grosjean. I must give Indy a go then because I could do with regaining the enthusiasm I used to have for F1. Just a bit of straight, gimmick-free racing would be great. Yes, to hell with KERS and DRS, and the dopey tyres. Maybe I'll go the way I'm going with football – forgetting the big-time Charlies and heading off to my local club/track to watch the amateurs! Thanks for those links :) I started to watch then realised I'll have to watch them both all the way through. Saving them for the weekend! I haven't seen an Indy race for years so it'll be interesting to see how it's developed. To my mind, the simpler the better, something F1 would do well to remember... Another thing - Orient have signed Johnny Gorman after your lot let him go. He wasn't exactly ever-present there, but do you know anything about him? He did well in a friendly, scored against Arsenal, and we snapped him up... Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:03, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Long time since we topped the table! Best win on the opening day in our history. We are definitely Carlisle's bogey team though, beating them 4–1, 4–1 and now 5–1 in our last three meetings. The joke goes that the official helpline for distraught Carlisle fans is 0800 414151... haha... Gorman came on towards the end and did a good job. It's players like him that will need to step up when the inevitable injuries arise. Our first XI is one of the best in the division (so they say) but it's about strength in depth, of course. Solid start for your lot, I think Preston will be up there at the end. Bretonbanquet (talk) 14:38, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
It must be 25 years since Carlisle played any higher up the leagues than they do now, so you must have missed them on your way back up from the old Division 4. I think Carlisle will struggle this season. Interesting about the Wolves/Orient head-to-head, we must have usually played you when we were good! Our head-to-head against most clubs is awful, unless you count Rochdale or Halifax. Yes, good to get Preston out of the way, your lot won't be any lower this season than you are now. We've got our longest trip out of the way already, so that's always nice. Cracking Indy races! When I get more familiar with the drivers I might end up favouring that over F1... surely not! Just goes to show that good, simple racing is achievable! Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:37, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Interesting site! I spent quite a while on there. You've given us a few beatings over the years, that's for sure – I must say I preferred our first meeting, 4–0 to Orient! Seems Orient have done best against Rochdale, and teams like Mansfield. But even some awful teams have done well against us... quite depressing, Margate... Hendon!! I did see both races, I wasn't planning to watch them back-to-back, but there ya go! Haven't seen yesterday's yet, but I will do so, maybe tonight. Good stuff! Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:11, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
There must be some teams this season that Wolves haven't played for decades, and some not at all! A year of discovery... haha. I really enjoyed those races, and great to see some names I'd half-forgotten about. I always thought Bourdais had a hard time in F1, he was better than he looked with Vettel as a team-mate, particularly. I like push-to-pass, I see it as a more genuine racing trick than DRS. Increasingly, I dislike DRS. I particularly liked the Sao Paulo race - it looked like an 80s Grand Prix, almost like Caesar's Palace. Good to have women in the cars, and it looks to me like the Indy cars are harder to drive than F1 cars. I wonder if F1 cars are a bit easy to handle? Never been keen on rolling starts though! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:08, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
Exotic! Haha, Crawley and Stevenage are two places worth skipping, Crawley is particularly awful. What happened to your lot tonight? Played the young'uns I hope. We scraped past Coventry, but they were unlucky, and we saved a pen. They won't be bottom for long. Sambadrome! The end of that race was mental. Maybe if F1 dared go to places like that, we'd see better races. Too much concentration on snooker-table circuits with huge run-offs. The standing starts will work in Indy, that one looked good. Indy learns from F1, but I suspect F1 is too self-important to learn from our American cousins... Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:51, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
Well, I hope you get a similar result to Orient's at Carlisle :) Sounds like you just had a bad night tonight, and even though it's a cliché, you'll be concentrating on promotion. I can see Coventry in mid-table, providing Elvis (!) can keep his squad together. That's true, Valencia is awful. But Tilke is one of the worst things to happen to F1 over the last ten years. Dullest circuits in the world. I'm amazed people think it's a coincidence that he designs so many circuits now and suddenly we have boring racing. Sochi, well, we'll see! I still wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen at all, actually :/ Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:24, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I got my Sochi International Street Circuit and my Moscow Raceway mixed up there. Both Tilke. The latter does look like a better circuit, and I didn't realise how long Sochi was. Somebody needs to build a copy of the old Zandvoort or something. Better tracks, bigger grids, lose DRS and KERS, have a situation where qualifying actually matters, and that would be a starting point for a better formula. I'm not asking for much! Hey, thanks for the edits you make clearing whitespace and stuff like dashes and so on. Just curious, do you check my edits/contributions for new pages to do that? I see a lot of pages being edited by you after i did. No offense or so, i just saw it the last week(s) and was always wondering. If so, i like it. ;) Keep it up! Alright, was just wondering (and felt honored a bit :D). Next up are the athletics WC and some "minor" ones. It's good to have a bit of free time. Kante4 (talk) 21:02, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
That sucks obviously. And work i assume on top of that? I have another month left of my free time before my final year as Education teacher (right word?) starts before i can work fully in that department. Also my ACL is a bit hurt, so doing sport has to wait a few more days. So, yeah i got a bit of room to do some work here on wikipedia if i'm not outside. I'm not into cycling that much anymore since the Armstrong/Ullrich days but saw your reports on different articles and they were pretty good. Kante4 (talk) 21:17, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Next year i work in a kindergarten but after that i want to work with kids (age 6-10 like this year), so at a school but not as a teacher. Doing homeworks with them, eat with them after school and just plan things with them or other stuff, normal here in Germany. Kids who can't go home after school stay longer and do that stuff for school they would do at home and have free time after it. ;) Tough to explain in rough english... Sounds great that office, worst thing in the summer in my eyes. Man, i remember cheering for Erik Zabel at the end of stages, getting up at 11 to watch those big mountain stages. Thinking back, it seems all fake, but if all did that, was it really fake/wrong? I hope cycling can comeback after all that but after every stage or win the questions will be raised, sad. But also thinking back, man are i/we getting old... :D Seems decades ago, and it is! You are a cyclist yourself then i assume? Kante4 (talk) 22:09, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Sort of yes, i'm also there if the teacher need help or a lesson is about to be canceled, we jump in and do some stuff with the kids (not new things, just so that the kids have something to do). Helping them develop in different things (social...). Like a kindergarten "worker". Working in an office can become boring i think, too. I did not even own a bike by now, earlier i was riding a lot but that was over sadly at some point my interest shifted and time wasn't there always. The questions at this years tour were emberassing i thought, i just read them at the newspapers but still. I watched only a bit the last 5-6 years to be honest, Ullrich/Armstrong was one of the best rivalries i thought (maybe a bit based), that was were i really enjoyed watching it, even a whole day. German TV does not show the tour anymore since 2-3 years, "only" on eurosport it can be watched. There needs to be done a major cleaning up in the cycling sport, but how? and after that, how can we be sure that someone is clean that won or is better than anyone else? That's the problem that will stick for long i believe. Same can/will happen at Athletics now... And now it appears that Doping was done in the Bundesliga here in Germany aswell earlier. Kante4 (talk) 22:43, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, that rivalry had something special. Something could have happened all the time but i always thought Ullrich was too passive most of the time and let Armstrong dictate the race(s). Not sure if my feeling was right but my dad felt the same ("He got to attack" "What is he waiting for" :D). Klöden was the next good one but he disappeared and did not win anything and stopped developing somehow. Yeah, Erik said he was "coming out" because of his son as he told him to be honest all the time. A bit paradox but ok. Will definetely keep an eye on him, not sure about other german racers. Martin has his moments here and there but yeah, unlucky at times. Yeah, the news was out 3-4 days ago but nothing special known by now. Who knows if it's headline news or just some rumors, we have to wait i guess... Kante4 (talk) 23:10, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Yep, i remember that scene. Armstrong waited for him a week/year earlier if i recall it right. Kittel could be the next great sprinter i believe. Kante4 (talk) 19:29, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for some of the links. Will definitely keep an eye on Kittel the next years. Kante4 (talk) 20:48, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Missing informations

Can you help me complete missing informations in this article and this article? Banhtrung1 (talk) 08:26, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

So

So that was the only way you could do it? To play a day before us? *sigh* how the mighty fall ;) You won't have that top spot for long (famous last words) so enjoy it while it lasts! Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:21, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

God knows where Orient will be at Christmas haha... So I hear! Nearly threw away two points and the Orient fans on twitter were (very briefly) cheering. Crawley can put on a good show when they feel like it, and they might have had a sort of cup final attitude towards your lot. Let's see what we can do with the mighty Crewe... Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:29, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Exactly, those two points could make all the difference come May. Crewe will either become Cheshire's answer to Brazil tomorrow, or take us for granted. Orient seem to bring strange attitudes out in some opponents. Some Stevenage fans basically thought their season was over – "If we can't beat Orient, we're as good as down." Nice! Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:18, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
I sort of hope they do. They're still a non-league outfit in so many ways. Like their match programme for their game with us, which had a big feature on "Orient legend" Bobby Moore. There's just no excuse for that at all. They deserve to be relegated just for that. Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:49, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, it was just beyond amateurish. Even non-fans know that Moore was a Hammer, in fact the best-known Hammer ever. I actually think Coventry might stay up, if they can hold on to their better players. Carlisle will be gone by February if they carry on that way, and Stevenage should go with them. Awful town as well. Bretonbanquet (talk) 14:04, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes, Moses didn't waste much time there. Raining so hard though that an abandonment isn't out of the question. Peterborough winning too, so either way you might be toppled by 4.45 ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 14:21, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
That would be incredibly harsh! Rain at Orient easing apparently :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 15:16, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Long and miserable trip back to Doncaster for all concerned. Very tough to take, I should think. Sorry we had to take our rightful place back, by the way :) Although if Peterborough had scored another one they'd have passed us! Bretonbanquet (talk) 15:59, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
We're not under any illusions. Just enjoying it while it lasts! Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:03, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Wolves / Sharks

I saw that! I'd have put money on Peterborough winning, but that's football. Orient have won their first five matches of a season for the first time ever, so we're celebrating. Maybe your lot will catch us, but not just yet ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:06, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

It's a crazy game. I'll take a one in two chance of going up! I still think Wolves will win the title through consistency, and Peterborough will be up there too. If Orient can stay in the top 5 I'll be happy with that. On the other hand, we might just win all 46 ;) But now Russell Slade will probably win manager of the month, so we're sure to lose the next 8 now... Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:58, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
10/1 seems a bit bonkers. You're right, Wolves have the strength in depth that very few other League One sides have. Orient will come unstuck if we're unlucky with injuries. We have our first 11, then about five other half-decent players, then we're down to the kids. At some stage we will lose two or three first-teamers and get found out. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:29, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
Oh yeah ;) Wonder if they'll get any lower? Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:50, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
100/30 for promotion sounds like low odds! I'd still say 8/1 or so! Maybe I've been supporting Orient too long... Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:05, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
Madness! Let's see where we are at Christmas ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:12, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
I may hold you to that! I'd definitely take it though. Bretonbanquet (talk) 11:12, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
I haven't seen the Baltimore race, I'll confess I'd forgotten it was on! That'll give me something to do after work tomorrow ;) Yikes... I'd seen the Stephen South debacle but I didn't realise this guy had done the same thing elsewhere. Time to call time on that. I left my 2p worth at WPMS. Thanks for the heads-up! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:17, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
I'll have to wait for Baltimore to pop up on YouTube since I don't have ESPN :'( But those accidents were a bit crazy. Am I the only person who thinks that guy won the truck race simply by punting the other guy off? Maybe it's different over there! I see ol' Max Papis got a slap for his troubles after that race [1] which seems very... redneck. There, I said it! Can't see that happening in the F1 paddock! Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:59, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

NASCAR points

I was wondering why there have been so few updates to the NASCAR points as of late. By the way, the Chase is set. Truex was in on a 2nd place tiebreak.Gaeaman787 (talk) 03:20, 8 September 2013 (UTC)

Sorry

Not sure we can help you there! Six in a row... I'm sure you'll be very close behind when we slip up, you'll just have to wait a bit longer! ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:07, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

At least you'd scored enough goals to avoid losing points. Points win prizes! Our game in hand is home to Notts County, which, all things being equal, we ought to win. Still can't quite believe our start. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:29, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Coo... those were the days! Some big clubs in that list. That was the season we got promoted to the top flight for the first and only time, but the least said about the following season the better! We're really appreciating the "making history" aspect of this run. Walsall are a hot/cold side, with ex-Orient Dean Smith in charge. Nice bloke and a good, honest club. You should beat them in the league games though, I think. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:52, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Exactly, I've been supporting Orient forever and we just don't get those long winning runs. We do get long unbeaten runs, and we had a seven-match unbeaten run last season, and a nine-match run the previous season, but too many draws! We won five league games in a row last season and we thought that was like supporting Brazil, but this is incredible. We're into new territory and it can only go wrong in a horribly depressing way! I think some fans of other clubs are getting a bit sick of us now, haha... Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:09, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Ten, is it? Wow... no, I can't see it happening. But let's see... ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:18, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Ah, 42 away games without a win, I remember it so well! Interesting stats, those. Amazing that we've never lost a league game by more than six goals. Very surprised by that. No more Baltimore, eh? I sort of like that type of cirucit in a sadistic kind of way. Cracking race, that one – had to watch it in two stints, I thought it was going to go on for ever! Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:00, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
My sentiments exactly. I'm pretty dubious about some of these early starts too. Might just not be worth it. I just hope the new engines inject something into F1 next year. I'm not keen on the re-emergence of the teenage paydriver either. Sirotkin... ugh. If drivers like him can survive in F1, it's far too easy. Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:15, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

You're right, it is disturbing. Just where is the sport going, exactly? It's always been the case that drivers need some money to get into F1, but it's getting ridiculous. It used to be the Minardis of the world who would hire a Sirotkin, but Sauber are supposed to be a serious F1 team. Yes, Frijns seems to have been passed over, which is criminal. I hope some other team picks him up. The turbo era was fun, and the cars were bonkers. Much harder to drive in those days. Unreliability added a huge amount to the enjoyment with those engines. Even if someone was miles in front, you never took it for granted till he'd crossed the line. Not like now. Who wants to get up at 4am to see Vettel lead into the first corner and it's all over? While some other blokes play with their KERS and their DRS for a couple of hours to see who picks up the points? I'm ranting a bit, but you catch my drift ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:32, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

I totally agree. Pérez, for someone who was supposed to be the great up-and-coming driver, has never been remotely convincing to me, except when punting someone off. He'll carve out a Massa-type career if he's lucky. Gutiérrez has been tidy but about as slow as I expected him to be, and therefore shouldn't be there. If Hulkenberg leaves for another team (Lotus?) and Sauber wind up with Gutiérrez and Sirotkin, it'll be the least talented line-up in years. I rate Bianchi, and vd Garde has made Pic look pretty ordinary. Chilton... pfft. No better than Mazzacane. At least Mazzacane said funny things in press conferences. I'll give Bottas another season before making a judgement. Ranting on Twitter! Why not, I like a laugh after Grands Prix. So what happened in NASCAR? Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:34, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I find it hard to tell how good Bottas is because his car is awful, and I'm still not exactly sure how good Maldonado is... Boy that NASCAR episode is a bit of a storm. For my money, he did it on purpose. If somebody asked me after the race if I spun off on purpose, I'd be at least surprised, if not outraged at the suggestion, but Bowyer just calmly says no, it was a puncture... hmmmmm... Some odd chat on the radio beforehand too, sounded like pre-arranged signals to me. Interesting stuff!! Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:21, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
NASCAR not immune to a bit of cheating, then. Every branch of every sport has its problems! Glad to see Montoya back in single-seaters, he's been wasted elsewhere. I fear his best days may be behind him though. Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:24, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
Haha, no worries. Check out what Orient are doing, that should warm you up. I've got half an eye on your lot too ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:14, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
Sorry Wolves lost, even though it did us a favour. I still have you down to pass us sometime this month or next... Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:06, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
We'll get a wake-up call of our own before long, I can feel it. I remember Jimmy Glass! Never been to Brunton Park, although I wish I'd been there when we beat them 5–1 on the first day of the season. Good photos, you got pretty close to those guys. I've been to Kendal, nice town. I must ask, what was the bizarre little furry white yeti thing? Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:47, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
I'm glad there are still a few old-style grounds around. I just read about Glass, he retired at 27! That really was his moment of fame. Ah, the Skoda Yeti... makes sense now. Yes, hideous. I saw a '79 Range Rover only today and got to thinking how ugly nearly all modern 4x4s are. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:00, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
Haha, well not many of us can say we've won a yeti! I recall they had terrible floods up there a few years ago, especially Carlisle – it seems to be a real raintrap. Not great for road racing though, I suspect. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:22, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Driver Nationalities

Hi,

In the past, you've told me on the 2013_Ginetta_GT_Supercup_season page that Scottish, English, Welsh and Northern Irish drivers should only be identified with a British flag. Can you tell me why you have not changed the flags on the 2013_BTCC page where I see you have made several contributions?

Just wondering why the apparent inconsistency, or am I missing something?

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul ss1 (talkcontribs) 17:26, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

I thought that there is a guideline preventing to use flags on infoboxes, am I wrong? Osplace 14:11, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Potential assistance with cropping

Hi mate, hope all is well. Yes I'm just waiting on the main, only two months. Great race overall, I caught stage seven, real nice to see the guys in the flesh. Sadly I got no pictures of quality. Looks like you've got some good shots there. Do you want to put them all under CC BY 3.0 and I'll go through and upload some? BaldBoris 20:33, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Some really good rides from top riders. My highlight has to be Yates' win. I was saw it at Barhatch Lane and the finish. Barhatch Lane was definitely an experience, shame it wasn't shown on TV, probably too tight for the cameras. The peloton zoomed past three abreast, unlike last year, so could only really see Wiggo in the gold jersey. Think it was Bauer who pulled a wheel going past. Sundays race will be wide open and will just come down to who has the form. I just can't see King Tony being dethroned from the TT. Wonder if he'll try doing GC again... If you can just put the all as Share Alike, that would be great, if you can't batch them maybe just do the ones you think are good enough. BaldBoris 21:29, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

It looks like your set has been uploaded today. I've been a bit busy so it slipped my mind. Need to go through and sort the cats out still. How about Sunday's race then? Poor Purito, really felt for him. British team are a bunch of babies IMO. BaldBoris 23:04, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
