Welcome
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:
- Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with what Wikipedia is and is not. Wikipedia is not just another news, forum, blog/webhost, promotional/advertising/directory, or social networking site. It is a place for serious, collaborative, scholarly assembly of knowledge about notable subjects into a high-quality encyclopedia, with verifiable references to independent, reliable sources. Many people come here with other expectations and have a difficult time as a result.
- Introduction and Getting started
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- Simplified Manual of Style
Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by adding a space and four tildes to the end of the last line of your post, like this:
This is the last line of the post. ~~~~
The tildes will be automatically converted to a signature that contains your linked username and a timestamp to help keep conversations organized. I will sign mine accordingly with hopes you will remember me and will feel free to ask me any questions you have--or just say hi! Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:13, 15 October 2025
Pending changes reviewer granted
[edit]
Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted
[edit]
Hi Dafootballguy. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate use of rollback. If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin) and Wikipedia:Rollback. Good luck and thanks! * Pppery * it has begun... 15:28, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
DYK for Valentin Senn
[edit]On 2 May 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Valentin Senn, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that NFL player Valentin Senn used to play the trumpet in the Swarovski Orchestra? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Valentin Senn. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Valentin Senn), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.
New page reviewer granted
[edit]
Hi Dafootballguy, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! signed, Rosguill talk 17:23, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
Upcoming expiry of your patroller right
[edit]Hi, this is an automated reminder as part of Global reminder bot to let you know that your permission "patroller" (New page reviewers) will expire on 00:00, 24 August 2026 (UTC). For most rights, you will need to renew at WP:PERM, unless you have been told otherwise when your right was approved. To opt out of user right expiry notifications, add yourself to m:Global reminder bot/Exclusion. Leaderbot (talk) 19:41, 17 August 2026 (UTC)

Organized Labour September Editing Event
[edit]
You're invited to join the Organized Labour community editing event, a cross-wiki event taking place throughout September 2026!
The campaign brings together Wikimedians interested in improving coverage of organised labour, workers, trade unions, and labour history. We have confirmed collaborations with Wikipedia language editions in English, Dutch, Persian, Serbo-Croatian and French. If you want to add other language editions or other wiki projects you are strongly encouraged to do so! This event spans geography and languages!
This is a one-time invitation. You're receiving it because you previously signed a petition related to Wiki Workers United (WWU). We hope you'll join us!

Draft:Juan Fernando Herrera Ramos – COI disclosure
[edit]Hi Dafootballguy. I saw your comment asking me to disclose my COI on Draft:Juan Fernando Herrera Ramos. I am Juan Fernando Herrera Ramos, the subject of the draft. I had previously disclosed this during the drafting process, but if I need to make the disclosure in a particular location or using a specific template, please let me know and I will do so immediately. Thank you. Jfer2334 (talk) 02:21, 20 August 2026 (UTC)

Link in signature
[edit]Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that the "in solidarity" in your signature links to the article in mainspace WWUS (about an American radio station). I'm not sure if this is intentional, but I believe the correct target is WP:WWUS instead, a shortcut to Wikipedia:Wiki Workers United solidarity.
Just wanted to let you know.

AfC August Backlog Drive: Only ten days left!
[edit]
Hi Dafootballguy, thanks for participating in the Articles for Creation August Backlog Drive! We've done amazing work so far, dropping the backlog by more than 3000 drafts already. We have around 1300 drafts outstanding, and we need your help to get that down to zero in the next 10 days. We can do this, but we need all hands on deck to help make it happen – if everyone who signed up to the drive reviewed just 1–2 drafts a day for the next ten days, we'd be down to zero in no time! A list of the pending drafts can be found at WP:AFCSORT, where you can select submissions in your area of interest, or you can find a random submission here. Thank you so much for your work so far, and happy reviewing! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 21 August 2026 (UTC)

Colour contrast in your signature
[edit]Hi Dafootballguy, I've seen your signature in a discussion and wanted to let you know that the colours you've chosen are unfortunately quite difficult for some people to see when used against a white background. We have guidelines for use in articles – MOS:CONTRAST – that are generally considered to also be applicable in other Wikipedia spaces in order to make discussions accessible to users with vision impairments. Accordingly, would you consider changing the colours you're using? There's a list of pre-approved ones at MOS:ONWHITE that you might like to choose from, or you can test your own choices using https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ with the goal of finding a ratio of at least 4.5:1. Thanks very much. XAM2175 (T) 11:59, 22 August 2026 (UTC)
- @XAM2175 this was suggested by a group on the teahouse. Are you sure that yup saw the updated version? In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 04:23, 23 August 2026 (UTC)
- I'm so sorry, I hadn't seen the new one. That said, while the green is excellent, the gold for your talkpage link is still a little too light; it has a contrast ratio of only 2.56:1. If you were to darken it to something like #936E25 (Want to talk?) it would tick all the boxes :) XAM2175 (T) 12:32, 23 August 2026 (UTC)
- @XAM2175 I changed it like you said. I'm Not sure if this complies with MOS:SEAOFBLUE. In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 17:36, 23 August 2026 (UTC)
- As a colorblind person, I can tell yup that these 2 colors look too similar In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 17:37, 23 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. It's unfortunate that this is an area where some accommodations are not entirely compatible with others, but personally I wouldn't say that there is a problem with SEAOFBLUE here, and I don't think there would be even if both elements of your signature were in the exact same colour – primarily because the talkpage link is enclosed in brackets and therefore visually separate without the distinction of colour. If, on the other hand, your signature was "Dafoot" in one colour linking to your userpage, and "ballguy" in another colour linking to your talkpage, with no gap between them, I would agree that was a problem not just with SEAOFBLUE but also MOS:COLOUR. Anyway, thanks again for hearing me out. Cheers. XAM2175 (T) 19:24, 23 August 2026 (UTC)
- @XAM2175 is there any other color I could change it to that is better? I would like a color that I could differentiate. In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 20:11, 23 August 2026 (UTC)

Question regarding Citation
[edit]Hello,
I was notified about an edit's need for additional citation. I was wondering what the best way to cite this is, as this is not a political report or news, rather an application of how time zones geogrpahically are determined.
By default, each time zone offset from UTC spans 15 degrees, thus dividing a location's longitude by 15 yields you it's natural UTC offset (https://www.britannica.com/science/time-zone). In addition, time zones are rounded to the nearest hour. Using this, Yukon would fall under UTC-9 and Alberta would fall under UTC-8. This is why I noted Alberta being on UTC-6 permanently now would actually be 2 hours ahead of its geographical time zone.
What is the best way to cite this? The current claim of all the provinces being on their geographical or natural DST is wrong in the first place and unsourced. EvermoreDespair (talk) 20:54, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Citing sources, that should explain. In solidarity, Dafootballguy (Want to talk?) 21:39, 24 August 2026 (UTC)

Potentially broken signature
[edit]Hello Dafootballguy! You seem to be doing quite well since the last time we've spoken to each other. I see that you've made quite a large impact here and first wanted to congratulate you on that. But I'm contacting you because I noticed one of your contributions in passing and discovered that your signature may include a broken or inoperable link. The latter gold section with the writing Want to talk?
doesn't seem to link to anything at all; if it's meant to link rather to your talk page, that'd probably be an issue. Perhaps you made a malformed adjustment to it when trying to change its color or appearance? In any case, it may be worth looking into. All the best!
Ah, silly me. I neglected to actually click on your signature and see where it takes me. While it indeed seems operable, which is the important part, I'm afraid that confusion may be of detriment if a new or just unacquainted user were to make the same mistake I did and not notice your signature takes them to where they want to go. At least on my end, hovering over that part of your signature doesn't highlight it in any way; I'm not sure how you perceive it to function on your end. Maybe it'd instead be worth looking into whether that's a defect you're unaware of and, if not, whether it should be changed so such confusion doesn't occur? Thanks! - I noticed that when hovering my cursor over the latter part of your signature, it doesn't highlight (or more precisely, underline) itself like hyperlinks usually do. I don't know whether that was something apparent to you or specific to me, but I know you've been adjusting it to accommodate your colorblindness, so I wondered whether you misadjusted something in the process. This all made me confused about whether it actually linked to anything at all. Of course, clicking the link lets me know that it indeed does, but I'm concerned the lack of highlighting would cause confusion to others who wouldn't think to do that, as I was on the precipice of. I would double-check how you set up your signature in your preference settings to make sure it doesn't contain any errors in accordance with Wikipedia:Signature § Customizing your signature.
