The Special Barnstar
Thank you for promoting Kalpana Chawla to good article status! HypnoBlader (talk) 21:43, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello HypnoBlader, and thank you so much for the barnstar and the gratitude! I really appreciate the recognition you're giving me, and it's truly encouraging to receive such kind messages from others. As editors, we should strive to make this encyclopedia as high-quality for our readers as possible—they're the selected audience for whom this project was made and toward whom this project is geared. Tasks that take place behind-the-scenes, while indeed important, are secondary to improving our mainspace pages by most people's metrics. In furtherance of this end, I tried to improve Kalpana Chawla as well as I could, a task that was actually inspired by a request at the reward board. As embarrassing as it is for me to say, that was actually my foray into content work after being here for a month or so, as up to this point, I've been focusing strictly on those behind-the-scenes tasks, namely counter-vandalism. So I'm glad I was able to do so well enough for you to have noticed and sent me this message. Again, I want to say how encouraging it is to read this from you—thanks! Your welcome! And also, thank you for fighting vandalism Salmon of Knowledge! HypnoBlader (talk) 04:17, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@HypnoBlader: Thanks for saying that! I hope you have a good rest of your summer. Take care. Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 04:54, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Thank you for the barnstar, I actually noticed that we created our accounts on the same day over a month ago haha! I remember doing the old-fashioned reload recent changes and review TA edits and constantly getting beaten to the mark by you before I received rollback rights. You actually played a non-negligible role in me choosing anti-vandalism as my "feel productive while procrastinating" activity! Anyway, thank you for your Wikipedia work, and while fools seldom differ, I'm sure that neither of us are (I hope)! Bungle491 (talk) 04:39, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Bungle491: Haha! I'd hope to be sure of that too. Thank you so much for the barnstar and excellent message! It's really encouraging to hear back from you like this and truly inspires one to do further work. This was not only a very pleasant read but also a very pleasant surprise, what with the anxiety that strikes you when being pinged and all.
On surprises, your mention of noticing our identical account creation dates a month ago, to say nothing of me playing a role in your choice to work in counter-vandalism, was striking. I always thought of my contributions so far here as characteristically minor and transient; I joined two months ago "in search of an outlet for my writing" but alas have fallen into the meta-pipeline leading to my working so heavily in counter-vandalism that it now comprises thousands of my edits and hours of my summer. It's been a laboriously mundane endeavor that's nonetheless kept me busy by the motivation to clean up after things ranging from being as juvenile as gibberish to being as serious as libel (as well as, of course, wanting to feel productive when I have nothing better to do)—but I digress. I haven't yet made nearly as much of an impact as I would've liked to at the outset, so it's difficult to imagine affecting with my activity here anyone's decisions to any extent, let alone someone I'd be conversing with.
I'm not sure what to say at this point but to reiterate what I sent in my initial message to you: you're doing some great work that certainly hasn't gone unappreciated, and I thank you for your dedication to improving the quality of this encyclopedia. I'm sure you'll have a long and enjoyable time here, and I hope to see more of your contributions in the future. Seriously, thanks for your response.
