Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Dangelvoice. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Deelee Dube, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. StarM 00:33, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please stop re-adding the interviews, they are not independent and do not pass notability guidelines. StarM 15:03, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

  Hello Dangelvoice! Your additions to Deelee Dube have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. You may not copy text from https://musicians.allaboutjazz.com/deeleedube Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Deelee Dube

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Deelee Dube requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://musicians.allaboutjazz.com/deeleedube and Cannot find a clean version, text present from first edit. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. StarM 01:52, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Deelee Dube, from its old location at User:Dangelvoice/Deelee Dube. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Nathan2055talk - contribs 21:30, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Just so you're aware, Nathan2055, this has copyvio issues and has been deleted in mainspace already. Checking now to see if the same issues remain and @Justlettersandnumbers: who IDed more of the copyvio than I had. StarM 21:34, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Star Mississippi, I don't know if your findings agree, but I've gone ahead and blanked this and listed it at WP:CP – there's still substantial taking from at least two of the same three sources as before. Dangelvoice, you can rewrite the text at this special page; please do not copy any running text from non-free external sources, or any copied content from earlier versions of the page. Doing so will render the rewrite useless, and could also lead to loss of editing privileges. Do you have some connection to User:Platinumbirch? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:36, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Justlettersandnumbers same and thanks. Between removing the copyright violations and interviews, it wasn't going to leave much. She's notable, but I'm not sure @Dangelvoice: is aware of this page (hence trying ping to see if it helps) or edit summaries to see what's being changed. I wondered if Platinum came out of my earlier COI warning. StarM 13:10, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Robert_McClenon re: your comment, just bringing the above conversation to your attention as I'm not sure the copyvio can be deleted per the investigation that Justlettersandnumbers opened. StarM 19:59, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
User:Star Mississippi - Well, I am not the expert on copyright, but I would think that, since the purpose of a copyright investigation is to decide whether the page must be deleted, deleting the page ought to resolve the issue. The questionable draft is no longer needed, because there is a new draft. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:45, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Robert McClenon. Similarly unfamiliar with the exact processes. I wish the editor knew there was a talk page as it would make it simpler to move forward I think. StarM 21:39, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

We need you to learn how to properly sign your posts on talk pages please

edit

  Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four keyboard tilde characters ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when. Thank you. Nick Moyes (talk) 00:05, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Writing an Autobiography

edit

  Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself, at Draft:Deelee Dube. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Nick Moyes (talk) 23:45, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Final warning

edit

  You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Draft:Deelee Dube. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. I'm not going to be the one to block you as I am too involved, but if you do not learn the Wikipedia processes and guidelines especially relating to edit warring when multiple editors told you the content is inappropriate and a copyvio, you will be blocked. WP:ANI

edit

Hello, please see this discussion, which I have started. Your input is welcome. StarM 16:50, 29 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello User talk:StarM and @Justlettersandnumbers, Nick Moyes, Robert McClenon, and Nathan2055 Just to let you know that I have seen your discussion and taken note, thank you. The issue seems to be getting overwhelmingly out of hand at the moment. This is an article based on the notable artist, Deelee Dube, but it is quite confusing as to why her notability is being questioned when sufficient citations and articles are being edited into the article. Your help and support is much appreciated all the same. Thank you. User talk:dangelvoice

Here are a few very important pointers for you:
One problem is that, despite repeated requests, you have still failed to declare your obvious connection to the artist, per WP:COI. Please do this now. It seems you are either that person, or someone professionally attempting to promote them here. It's nothing to be ashamed of - just be open and honest -which is a basic of Wikipedia editing. We won't think less of you, when you do. Either way, don't make further edits to your draft until such time as you have met our conflict of interest guidelines. See also WP:PAID for our obligatory requirement for those being paid to edit on behalf of a subject, if that applies to you.
You should remove every single statement that cannot be supported by good sources that are independent of the subject. Despite what you might want to say about this person and their influences, nothing should go in unless explicitly stated in such sources. This is an encyclopaedia based upon 3rd party sources, not a personal website for you to promote your favourite subject.
You may NOT copy/paste your own words that you have published elsewhere unless that text is clearly released under a CC-BY-SA licence. You may possibly find yourself blocked if you repeat this activity again.
If you were to cut out all the promotional waffle and irrelevant minor details that you've added, you would stand much more chance of your article being accepted. Less is more. Remove the trivia and we might be able to see why Dube is actually notable, per WP:NBIO or WP:NMUSIC.
Please learn how to properly sign your posts (which will include a date/timestamp) by simply typing four keyboard tilde characters (like this:~~~~) Thank you.
Finally, please understand that this is becoming overwhelmingly time-consuming for us volunteers at the moment, and patience for promotional editors like you only stretches so far. Your willingness to finally respond and engage promptly with us is both appreciated and absolutely critical. Nick Moyes (talk) 23:06, 1 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest Notice

edit

I have taken the initiative to add on your behalf a Conflict of Interest notice to your talk page, of the type we have repeatedly asked you to make, but to no avail. If there is no conflict of interest, and either you are not the person you are trying to write about and promote here, nor have any connection with them, then you are, of course, free to remove it. But if you do do that, editors here will be free to draw their own conclusions about your editing behaviour and choice of username. Nick Moyes (talk) 22:10, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

September 2021

edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Draft:Deelee Dube) for edit warring.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Star Mississippi 22:46, 19 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Clearly you have learned nothing from our conversations this spring, and as such I have blocked you from editing that article. Consensus is that Dube is not yet notable and the article is not ready for mainspace. Please use the Talk page and respect that consensus. Star Mississippi 22:48, 19 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Deelee Dube

edit

Hello, Dangelvoice. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Deelee Dube".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
