Hello DaniHart08.

I love that you and I both have the "08" at the end of our usernames. I was just wondering if you were talking to me when you said

I was wondering if you have read the warriors series, because your name is the name of one of the characters in the book. If you DID read them, please talk to me on my talk page, I would love to talk about warriors!!

anyway, no, I have not read the warrior series, however my username is based off of the name of Marly Weaver from The Wingfeather Saga (her "code" name is Shadowblade)

By the way, the Wingfeather Saga is byAndrew Peterson.

Anyway, you should go check those links out sometime. Anyway, talk to you later, and if you want check out my user talk page. Thanks! —Preceding undated comment added 14:12, 23 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sweet! Maybe I should check out that book series. Yes, the '08 in my user name is also because I was born in 2008. A few quick questions:

  • When did you start editing Wikipedia?
  • Would you like to have a info page at the top of your user talk page? (like on mine, or something different) If you do want something like that, I would be glad to help you.

Thanks, and one more thing: could we decide on a talk page to have this conversation? Its kinda hard to go back and forth in-between your and my pages. Thanks!

Hi, again.

Hello again DaniHear08.

Have you read about page indentation? Its a fancy word for something thats super easy. Check out Wikipedias page for it here. Its super interesting, and I like to use it as often as possible. Do you have an idea of how often you will be on Wikipedia? Like will you be on it every day? Thanks. I hope to see you more often on Wikipedia.

Hi, I am responding to the comment you made on my page on Sunday the 26. You said, If you had the time, I would love you to do the talk page thing and this is how I would respond: Great! I think I came up with a new idea. So this time just go to the page, pick the one that you want, then tell me. I can do the rest of the work of putting it on your talk page. Then you asked, Also, PLEASE tell me how you did that little cat on the top of your page, it is so, so, so cute! And my response is: OK, its kinda hard to get, so would it be possible for you to tell me where you want to put it, and then I can put it there. If you want the code for it, this is it:

[[File:Gatto_zzz.gif|link=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gatto_zzz.gif|1000x1000px|How are you!]]

Just copy that code and then past it wherever you want it, and it will show this:

Anyway, the next thing you said was this: I will check out that "Page indentation" Thing soon, and I will tell you what I think when I get the chance! And my response is this: Great! I hope to see you soon on my talk page!

Thats it. Just please remember to sign your name by going into the "Insert" thing on the edit window, and then select "more" and then select "your signature" and that will insert for tildes. (or you can go into the "special character" and select the tilde X4)

Great, i'm glad it works for you. I made some adjustments on my page to. OK, you asked if there was a way to insert a photo. Heres what you do; You go into edit, (again) and then go to the insert column thingy. The first that that is on the list should be "images and media" click on that, and there will be a search bar. Delete whatever is in the search bar at the start, and then type whatever you want to have on you talk page. I'll do a demonstration.

This one is a bit upside-down.

Does that work for you? I hope it does. If it doesn't, ask me on my talk page, or go to the TeaHouse.

On to your next question, you asked if there is anyway you could repay me, and the answer is not really. I love to help people on Wikipedia, and I get enough pleasure in helping you that thats enough on its own. Thanks so much for coming to me for help, not someone else. If you like how I help you, you could give me a barnstar, or some other form of WikiLove. Again, thanks for being willing to repay me, even though you did, by giving me joy in helping you. Thanks so much!

Howdy Dani Hart. I just wanted to see if you were around, and if you had any questions. Thats about it. If you want to learn anything about your username, go here. There is some interesting stuff in there, but you don't have to read it all. Two places I would direct you to go to, would be (for one) here, and also (for two) here. I hope those links work. If they don't go here to ask me for new links. Thanks!

IT WORKS!!!!!

edit

Your username works!!!! Its super cool, and i'm super glad it worked out! Do you like mine? I modified by inserting this,

  1. bodyContent a[title="User:Shadowblade08"] { background-color: #ffa500; color: #ffffff; font-weight: bold; }

right here. If you want to do it for you, go to your common.css page, actually, just read about it here. This is what you do:

background-color: #ffa500;

Find that part in the code, then take the "#ffa500" with some other color, and to find out the color, go here. Find the "Color table" section and then select the color you want. Then all you have to do, is to replace the "#ffa500" with the color of you choice. Does that make sense? If it doesn't work, ask me. Thanks!

User:Shadowblade08 (talk) 17:24, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I did that so wrong. Just go to here, and then after that, just read it, and follow the instructions, till it makes sense. OK? I hope that works.

Getting pictures from commons

edit

This site: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page gets you to the huge collection of images already in Commons. The search space is at the upper left. Pick a picture, click on its title, then select use on a Wiki. You will see double brackets around the image name, the word 'thumb' and a caption. You can use that caption or write your own. Copy it all to where you want to put it. Here is one: David notMD (talk) 20:03, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

The point here is that Wikipedia is for people working on the encyclopedia. You and Shadow have been treating it as chat room, without editing articles. (I guess that for a person your age the idea of adding to articles can be a bit daunting.) But posting questions at Teahouse and comments on Talk pages distracts the volunteers and other editors from what this is all about. David notMD (talk) 23:33, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I am going to support these warnings. I hate to come across like the 'old dad' at the party, but I need to advise you that your use of Wikipedia is not following our policies. Put simply, please rein in the chit-chat. The problem is, Wikipedia is not a social chat platform, but at least one other editor Shadowblade08 has been using it as if it were, and you have rather gone along with this. See WP:NOTSOCIAL for the reasons why accounts could be blocked from editing if they're abusing Wikipedia in this way.
I genuinely appreciate you might not have known this, but we are all here to edit an encyclopaedia - and we're serious about it. So, this is me doing my best to be as polite and subtle as an old guy like me can be. If you aren't here to contribute to the encyclopaedia, you might be better off going somewhere else. If you do want to contribute, fantastic; get stuck in! Any questions: just ask. Cheers, Nick Moyes (talk) 00:30, 1 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Keeping safe

edit

Hi Danielle. I'm an administrator here on Wikipedia, and I noticed that you put up your personal contact details on your user page. I also noticed that you are still in school, and so I have taken the liberty of removing it and hiding it from general view for your own safety.

We take the protection of young people very seriously, and advise against anyone releasing phone numbers, social media contacts or emails. See WP:YOUNG for advice we offer parents and young people. It's a really bad idea to encourage people to contact you in this way. Indeed, we actively discourage non-Wikipedia related activities and off-topic communication, as you can read about in this policy: WP:NOTSOCIAL. Using the • on the Freddy Moncada article

edit

Hi Dani! I saw your edit to the Freddy Moncada article and wanted to say thanks for doing some translations. As a note for editing lists in the future, do not use •, as the software doesn't recognise it as a bullet point for lists. Instead, use * on each new line. For example, this:

* First thing
* Second thing
* Third thing

comes out as:

  • First thing
  • Second thing
  • Third thing

I suggest using the Preview button to the right of the Publish changes button to see what it looks like before you make the changes. Take care! —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:25, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Freddy Moncada

edit

Hi DaniHart08, thank you for attempting to translate the article Freddy Moncada. Unfortunately, the translation was not actual English – it looks as if you clicked the "Google translation" link and copied that text into the article without making any changes to it. Google Translate is a very bad writer, and it really has no idea of things like idiomatic English (or even understandable English)! That's why we need human translators – Google cannot do that for us, all it can do is guess at words that may or may not be correct, and that can sometimes help us understand what the text is about. If you look at the template, there is a warning text: "However, please do not add an automated translation to the article, since these are generally of very poor quality." Because this translation was in fact so poor that it wasn't possible to understand most of it, I have reverted it. Feel free to make another attempt at translating, because it would be fantastic to have the article in English. Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 16:07, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

edit

There is no evidence that Shadowblade's parents were ever using Shadowblade's account. The behavior was consistent with one person who was more interested in creating a User page and treating Talk as a place to chat. Wikipedia has so frequently seen an editor blame bad behavior on a family member that there is a humorous essay Wikipedia:My little brother did it.

Passing comment

edit

Hey, I saw your name mentioned in a post elsewhere, which I thought you might find helpful if I added to, here for you on your talkpage: To their points in order: A new and young editor (such as yourself) is always best off seeking help and advice from those editors who clearly have lots of experience, and the Teahouse really is the best way to do just that. We have 'Teahouse Hosts' - young and old- who really know what they're talking about. We are open 24/7. Just ask your question, and include a link to any page or source you want help on. And tell us if you need advice for mobile use (as the assumption is that everyone is using 'desktop view', even if on a mobile phone). Anybody else who comes direct to you, offering chatty advice is probably not the best person to help you. I always look at someone's past contributions here, so I can gain an idea if they are genuine or not. Your contributions, for example, are here. Trust the Teahouse Hosts, and maybe you might like to read WP:YOUNG, because we do take personal security and safety very seriously here. As I said to the other editor, by ensuring they remain anonymous, new, inexperienced and especially young editors can remain safe. Interacting with editors you don't know or trust is never a sensible idea - whether here or in real life. It's never a good idea to engage with people away from the Wikipedia platform, too. You have no idea who I, or indeed anyone else really is here. For example, whilst I might tell you and cunningly trick you into believing I am a retired old bearded guy from England, you have absolutely no way of knowing idea that I am, in fact, a terribly handsome 19 year old Bangra dancer and lethario, with an eye for beautiful ladies like yourself. And did I mention I have an apartment just around the corner from you, willing to chat about all those things you friends at school find so wearisome, and maybe sharing some photos? So Kik me - (but probably between the legs if anyone ever tries that kind of stuff on this platform, or indeed anywhere else, too!) By the way, I don't know if you are aware that you can email many users directly? If you're ever concerned, feel free to use that facility to contact an administrator like me if you need help. But I would strongly advise against ever using it to contact anyone else who engages with you. Although nobody here can read the contents of an emailed message, it does reveal your registered email address to the recipient. Should I or anyone else ever send you an inappropriate off-wiki email - don't delete it, as it can form valuable proof of a bad interaction, allowing action to be taken, if necessary. Any editor here who has concerns about the actions of another user can report the matter at WP:ANI, where edits made on both sides of any disagreement can be investigated. Hope this is of some interest. Take care, Nick Moyes (talk) 01:42, 7 May 2020 (UTC) PS: I see you've got 5 WP:TWA badges already - there are 15 in total to collect. Good luck! Move of Unfamiliar by Haley Mewsome

edit

I have moved this article to Draft:Unfamiliar by Haley Mewsome, because it is clearly not ready for the article main space. It cites no sources and provides no evidence that this web comic is notable In fact, it was, as posted subject to speedy deletion imder mcriterion A7, Significance not indicated. As a better alternative, I moved it to draft space where that rule does not apply for further work. I am a teahouise host (in fact I came to the article because of your recent post there, and an admin, as you can see on my user mpage. If you would ,like help with the article, i will be happy to offer it. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 18:06, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I think I put in your ref the way it should be. The draft still has fatal flaws. At a minimum, you need refs ABOUT the series Unfamiliar. Your only ref is to the website of the series. That can be an external link, but not a reference. David notMD (talk) 18:16, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Actually, the work can be a reference source, when a specific thing that happens in the work, or the presence of specific text is being mentioned in the article, but it cannot be the sole or most important reference cited. independent sources are needed, with significant coverage, not mere passing mentions, and such sources should be the main sources used in an article. (@David notMD:) DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 19:22, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
You moved it to main space again without submitting it for review, it would likely be tagged for deletion so I have moved it back to draft again, please find in depth coverage in reliable sources before submitting for review. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 19:29, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
It is up to you to improve the draft and then submit it for review. The people who are trying to guide you do not know anything about this topic. David notMD (talk) 21:47, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi - just catching up

edit

Hi Danielle. How are you doing? I don't quite know how to say this, but having seen Draft:Unfamiliar by Haley Mewsome I don't feel you've quite got the hang of this encyclopaedia yet. I'm not going to go into details. I just wanted to make a suggestion that you change tack, and spend more time simply getting the feel of how thing work here before trying to create articles about (what I assume) are your subjects of interest. Rather like learning to drive a car and immediately shooting off up the motorway, do please spend some time gently going round car parks and quiet streets - rather than immediately charging up the most challenging roads. Article creation is the hardest task anyone can perform here. Editing of existing articles will help you learn the 'ins and outs' of editing without the inevitable crashes en route. Your current draft gets nowhere near our Notability criteria, and I suggest you simply aim at improving existing articles so that you learn how we roll here. Cheers, Nick Moyes (talk) 23:05, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
