Hello, Daniel.Bryant. This is a quick message to remind you that all 5 finalists for the Esperanza User Page Award have been chosen. You now need to judge those 5 pages, awarding each one 1-10 points for attractiveness, usefulness, interesting-ness, general niceness and quality of subpages. Refer to the Scores section at the project page if you are unsure of how to score.
Once you have scored the 5 pages, email Celestianpower using the specified format. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced. Thanks. Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 08:54, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for such quick response with the indefblock. But was I really trolling? Come on, you didn't even crack a smile? I'm defintely losing my touch :( --Doc Tropics Message in a bottle 10:22, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
- Hmmm, I didn't block them - only add the {{indefblocked}} tag to the userpage, when admins forget to do it. I'm guessing you are talking about Banned9times (talk · contribs · count), who was blocked by CSCWEM. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 10:25, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

But I didn't want to be the overseer this round! :(. —Celestianpower háblame 10:51, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
- Why? And if you're not going to be, who will? Shreshth91 said he was going to promote me to overseer after this round, but this obviously hasn't happened yet. Please, can you just do it for this round; we'll sort it out in a better way for next round? It'd be great if you could, to make things easier and less confusing for the judges. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 10:54, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for uploading Image:Mariners Logo.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hello Daniel,
I do not think that the article on APANA was intended to be advertising. I did not write the article, although I think that I have met the person who did. However, it appeared to be accurate at the time that I disambiguated it (somebody replaced another article on a different "apana", which is not really the right way to do things).
If you think that the article is not sufficiently objective, I am happy to discuss ways to improve it. Or you could simply edit it and tone it down yourself if you want - enough people will probably check back on it to keep it accurate.
Here in Australia, APANA is part of the history of the internet. It was founded on similar principles to what (I think) Wikipaedia stands for, such as empowering ordinary people by making network resources available to them. Before APANA existed, there was quite literally no way for an average australian to experiment with an Internet Protocol network. A project like Wikipaedia would have been impossible anywhere except in a university (via AARNET), and access to it would have been strictly limited. APANA made the internet available to the masses, and stimulated the appearance of commercial ISPs. All on a volunteer, not-for-profit basis. APANA still exists, but its membership is shrinking as internet connectivity becomes commoditised.
I think that this is history worth preserving. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pairadice (talk • contribs)
- I am Australian, not that this has anything to do with this. I see that Chuq has done some de-spamming work on the article [2], and hence I agree that it does not need to be deleted under Wikipedia's guideline on deleting spam. Please note, I did not doubt the notability, nor the historical significance of the article - I understand that APANA is a huge part of the history of the internet in our great country. It was more the fact that the article was a giant advertisment; however, since it has been written in a more NPOV way, it looks entirely respectable. hi daniel. it seems that people in cyberspace are still trying to regularly crash the pop art wiki site and erase the truth. most of it i surmise is comming from hamilton's supporters who do not want the truth to come out in public. i will keep trying to input the facts since i am intimately privy to most of them. i have also checked it with my step mother magda cordell mchale who was a collaborater with mchale at the tit. if the crashing and errasing persists then i will have to sign off and wiki will then get the usual low grade cant. the hamilton lot are very dishonest and already crashed the Just What mirror site that i took some time to hyper-link and explain how my father's integrated collage works conceptually.my e-mail is down at the moment so it is difficult to conatact me.wiki is a great public service and i thank your staff for its operation and existence.Jmch.s+m+==r*

Dear Daniel,
Thanks for your reply at my talk page, regarding the CheckUser for User:Marwatt.
I would like to withdraw my complaint, as I think due to personal enmity wqe cannot help wikipedia.
I wish, if we could help Wikipedia more and more, as this is a Edcucation: Free and For All.
Anyhow, I also would like to know that how can one make an appeal for reconsideration of a delete?
Actually, I would like to know the specefic tag that is used for Deletion Review.

- Well, with deletion review, what happens is you make your request for review there, following the procedure outlined at the top. There isn't a "tag" as such. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 19:56, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, user Tajik is systematically searching and changing Turkish related articles with wrong and unsourced informations. WikiArticles are not improving because of his/her wrongly editings. He/She is searching 'turk' or "turkic" words in an article and deleting or deforming sentence or changing with 'persian' word in a baseless way. And he generally makes this secretly. He/She is making these changes with 'minor edits'.
A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous version: typo corrections, formatting and presentational changes, rearranging of text without modifying content, et cetera. A minor edit is a version that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute.
By contrast, a major edit is a version that should be reviewed to confirm that it is consensual to all concerned editors. Therefore, any change that affects the meaning of an article is not minor, even if the edit is a single word.
However, Tajik's systematically minor editings hardly affects of articles. And he/she always uses this illegal method. Please have a look at his/her contributions;<br|>

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hephthalite&action=history (Almost all of the minor editings by Tajik)<br|>
Actually, these are the ones that i could see. Please look at Contr. ;http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&limit=500&target=Tajik<br|> Secondly, if he/she is frustrated in editing he/she is inviting to article other wikipedians. What can be the evidence for teamworking else. He/she is not seeing wikipedia as an culture and information organization. He always deforms sourced turkic related articles and infos. He/she could has problems with other nations and races but is here true platform to solve his/her nation-based problems? Please help to improve Wikipedia...--Karcha 01:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey Daniel,
You may have seen me on Dfrg.msc's page. I'm a good friend of his and go to his school. I "borrowed" his Nav Bar and he got quite upset. So I had heard a lot about you from him so I decided to ask you whether you could help me make a better siganture and a nav bar for my page.
Thanks Mate. Jamo 07:28, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
- Almost forgot! Good luck with the Election! Jamo 07:30, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
- Firstly, thanks for the best wishes. Secondly, I'm not 100% sure what NavBar you're talking about on User:Dfrg.msc/User talk:Dfrg.msc - are you talking about the status indicator, or the "Navigation" thing at #What is Dfrg.msc?, or the "Quick Links" box? When you answer this, also tell me your first and second favourite colours, and I'll whip you something up :) Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 07:39, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
- The Bar on the side of his user page that says Navigation on the top. Green and Black. Thanks Mate! Jamo 07:44, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
- OK, I whipped up this User:Daniel.Bryant/Sandbox/8, which if you want it, can be added to all your subpages etc. and provides a neat directory. However, if you wanted something more like what Dfrg has (with a simple little table on the side of the page), I'll whip that up for you. Whichever one you want, I'm happy to make. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant [ T · C ] 07:56, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
- Hey thanks for the great nav bar. Can you help me with my signature now? PLEASE!!! Jamo 00:48, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey Daniel. Long time no speak. I've been pretty much inactive from around here recently what with Uni and business commitments (thanks to WP I got published in a National mag!! woot). Anyway I just dropped in to do some research and noticed you were running for Arbcom.

Cheers for fixing up that reference with the CCMFC article. I was restructuring the whole sentence (it was very POV, how it was), but it's good to see interest in the article. I nominated it for Football Collaboration of the Week a little while ago, and it looks like it will make it - I reckon that it could be the first FA for the Wikiproject. Hi Daniel!
Yeah, good point ("normal users in good standing") that I was groping for - and missed by about " " much.. but I think the point still stands - if you are doing any job that doesn't require admin tools, then it isn't an admin job. If an unblock was declined in bad faith, then that would be bad, if not downright disruptive... but that applies to admins as much (if not more) as it does to "ordinary" users.
Our next generation of admins should be doing these types of jobs, IMHO. Although I could easily be wrong. I often am :o) ➨ ЯEDVERS 21:18, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
