Hello. When TeX is used in the normal way, as opposed to the way it is used on Wikipedia, certainly any mathematical notation within a sentence should be set in math mode. But on some browsers, $x_{i}\,$ looks comically larger than the surrounding letters, and gets incorrectly aligned, whereas x_i does not. When TeX is "displayed", thus:

$\sum _{n=1}^{\infty }\int _{0}^{1}x^{n}\,dx$

then no such problem occurs (except that a final period or comma at the end should be placed INSIDE the math environment to assure proper alignment).

I think you may find some disagreement among Wikipedian mathematicians on how best to proceed. Michael Hardy 18:07, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. I tested the page with Mozilla Firefox and MSIE and the TeX formulae do seem to look a bit larger than the surrounding letters. I tried to fix it up a little and I think it looks better now.

What do you think? If you still reckon that TeX should be used as little as possible, you may revert my edits. I just tried to make it look a bit better, sorry. :) Daniel 19:39, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Generally I try to avoid "inline" TeX, but I am quite free about using "displayed" TeX. Sometimes if an expression clearly requires TeX, I consider "displaying" it where otherwise I might leave it inline. I'll take a closer look at this particular article. Michael Hardy 21:05, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Computer Services Directorate

Hi Daniel! Thank you for partly updating the article. Do you serve in the Computer Services Directorate? If so, can you please fully update the article? It was written when the Telecommunications Corps was part of the GOC Army Headquarters (Mazi), and today it is again under the Computer Services Directorate. The article, however, does not reflect this, and says:

The Computer Services Directorate comprises two main brigades, headed by brigadier generals. One brigade deals with operational communications and electronic warfare, while the other, Lotem (Hebrew: לוט"ם‎), abbreviation for Unit for Telecommunications and Information Technology.

This is of course incorrect today because the Telecommunications Corps is also a brigade. Was the previous brigade replaced by the corps, or are there now 3 brigades in the directorate?

There are currently 3 brigadier generals in the Directorate, but I'm not sure you can call the C4I Corps a "brigade"... Anyway, things are changing so rapidly, and as I saw at the IDF's website more changes are about to come, so it doesn't really matter if this article is up to date...
