A tag has been placed on Joseph clough, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of Joseph clough and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. andy (talk) 12:29, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. I had a look at the deleted article and, as you noted, the references are not what they should be in order to meet our requirement for reliable sources. Essentially, the individual's own website and YouTube videos are not considered reliable sources (I didn't view the videos, but that's my suspicion; self-publication does not confer notability), which leaves a single apparently-impartial reference. The entry I read looked very much like advertising (although I believe that was not your intention, from the note you left me), because things like Mr. Clough's "influences" are not really encyclopedic content (you cannot prove any of those assertions by reference to an impartial expert, which is what it all boils down to). I'm prepared to put the deleted content into a "sandbox" page where you can add sources to it and work on it further, if that would be acceptable, but I wanted to make sure that you're aware of the potential that the article will be deleted again unless you can provide considerably more in the way of references, such as the media interviews you spoke of. I just want to ensure that you don't go to a lot of trouble only to meet with disappointment. There is a lot of help that you can access, if you want it; two articles I recommend you start with (other than the links I've provided in this paragraph, which I strongly recommend) are WP:Why was my article deleted? and WP:Your first article. If you want the deleted material in a sandbox page, or if there's something further I can do to help, leave me a note and I'll do whatever I can to help.
