Rank insignia
editHi, I understand the difficulty in finding good sources for rank insignia especially from areas that are not the standard well known countries. Please don't stop editing, you have provided important and beneficial edits, and I look forward to seeing more improvements to wikipedia from yourself. I'm sorry if you felt any of the reversions I made to your edits were me getting annoyed with you or viewing you negatively. --Cdjp1 (talk) 11:12, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Hi this is a rather unusual article. Do you have any sources showing that the ranks or insignia of island states are discussed as a group, or is this a classification you devised yourself? Thanks Mccapra (talk) 08:51, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
I came up with this because island states are far different from continental states. DarleenDolphin1 (talk) 05:05, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Ok I’m afraid that means you have created something that does not meet the requirements of WP:LISTN. Wikipedia doesn’t allow editors to create articles about topics that have not already been discussed as a topic elsewhere in reliable independent sources. If the topic of ranks in island states is not discussed in independent sources I’m afraid the article doesn’t meet the criteria for inclusion. If you can find any sources now, even if you didn’t use them when creating the article, they can support its retention. I know you put a lot of work into creating this but the topic does not seem to be notable. Mccapra (talk) 05:37, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
Are you a Wikipedia employee? I'll delete the whole thing then, a lot of thinks on Wiki aren't "disgussed" topics. DarleenDolphin1 (talk) 06:55, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- No I’m not an employee I’m another volunteer editor and new page reviewer. Mccapra (talk) 06:57, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
A lot of these rank insignia pages use NATO rank codes outside of the NATO rank insignia page because the creators did it for artistic purposes with no sources cited, thus as much the same violation I just committed. DarleenDolphin1 (talk) 07:05, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
If it violates policy, then delete Island states navy officer ranks. I want no trouble with anybody. DarleenDolphin1 (talk) 07:09, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- ok thanks for understanding and better luck with your next article. All the best Mccapra (talk) 09:31, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
I wanted to thank you for everything you do for this platform. Have a good day/night. DarleenDolphin1 (talk) 14:30, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Hawaiian Navy
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hawaiian Navy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. dudhhrContribs 19:48, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
Comparative military ranks of Hawai'i moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Comparative military ranks of Hawai'i, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs prose content with citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Sources
editWhen adding or changing content, as you did here on the article Admiral, it's important that your edit be supported by sourcing. It's also helpful to provide an edit summary to explain your changes. That said, it is not helpful to add your sources to the edit summary, as they are next to useless to there. They are not on the page, attached to the relevant content, and also listed in the table of "References". By all appearences, your changes are unsourced and can be reversed or removed. People will not search through the page history to seek out possible sources (who knows how far back in time, or how many edits back?) and try to match them up with the correct content. And they shouldn't be expected to either. Going forward, please attach your sources to the article correctly (see WP:REFB & WP:CITE for more information). If you need assistance, contact tne Help Desk. Thank you - wolf 05:31, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
