America Dad, Season 8, Stanny Tendergrass

Why did you undo my edit where I added Hulk Hogan and Cheech Marin as guest voice actors??? These two people really did provide their voices, Hogan as himself and Cheech as the groundskeeper at the country club named Horatio! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dfdemt (talkcontribs) 02:47, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

I wasn't disputing the truth of that. The issue was that the guest cast list is trivial, at best. If you want to incorporate their names into the plot summary (i.e. if any character names voiced by guest actors are mentioned in the plot summary, put their voice actors' names in parenthesis next to them), that's fine, but just listing all the actors who guest starred in a particular episode is, as said I before, trivia at best. Liam Neeson

Thanks for reverting the disruptive edits to his nationality on the Family Guy episode. If you check his article, Neeson is only "Irish" - an identity felt by many like him, Catholics born inside Northern Ireland. '''tAD''' (talk) 18:48, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

You're welcome. I'll admit I don't have a full understanding on the split between the two Irelands, but I did base my decision to revert on Neeson's article where he was referred to as merely "Irish," (which I thought covered the entire island rather than one particular country) instead of "Northern Irish." This is probably the only time I'll bother to get involved in this subject :P. Davejohnsan (talk) 16:43, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

You made some changes to Surviving Jack with very little explanation. Please use the edit comment and/or the Talk page to explain your changes if you have the reason to assume that the change is not consential. Thank you!-84.170.92.183 (talk) 10:39, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

About me creating the NCIS season 13 article page.

Hello Mr. Davejohnsan, I noticed you reverted one of my edits just about 20 minutes ago. However, I want to ask you something. What's this mean when after the article is created, what is redirected mean? Does it mean the article is too early at this time to be shown on Wikipedia as of now? Well, anyway, I'm just curious about what it means as of now. And, so far, I just created the article about an hour ago, and that's it for right now, I just want to understand and learn the facts and details about the article. So, anyway, please leave me a message on my talk back page as soon as possible, thank you.

Family Guy (season 14)

I don't think its a good idea to keep reverting the Family Guy (season 14) article, i updated it with sources and the premiere date. A bunch of info on the season will be released at Comic-Con next week anyway. Koala15 (talk) 15:27, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

@Koala15: Why do you think it's not a good idea? Essentially, you have no substantial or noteworthy information on Season 14 other than its premiere date. You don't have an episode title or any plot information, and your only source is a press release that, as I just mentioned, only confirms the premiere date. I have been redirecting the article back to the main episode list in accordance with MOS:TV; there is simply not enough content to justify a standalone article in its present state (No, a premiere date will not suffice), so please tell me what your rationale is. Davejohnsan (talk) 16:07, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
I don't care that much either way. I just think it would be easier to keep the page up in decent condition, instead of reverting the countless recreations. Koala15 (talk) 17:47, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
@Koala15:I wouldn't even call that "decent." Unless you can provide enough content to justify leaving the season 14 page as a standalone article, I'm going to revert the changes you made this morning. Davejohnsan (talk) 17:53, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Well that is the only info on the season at the moment. Koala15 (talk) 18:14, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Would you like to revert your own edits as a matter of courtesy or shall I do it myself? Davejohnsan (talk) 18:24, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Criminal Minds season 10 ratings

You keep changing season 10 overall figures but not each of the episodes, I have provided a full summary as to why I changed 14.11 to 10.31 million as it reflects the correct overall viewing with accordance to what has been posted on wikipedia criminal minds season 10 each episodes viewers account. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_Minds_(season_10).

Can you evidence how criminal minds overall viewing can be 14.11 viewers if the viewers did not exceed 11 million? If you believe the over viewing is 14.11 can you change the above links figures as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jay99a (talkcontribs) 20:28, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

If you're calculating the average rating based on the viewer count of each individual episode, that is considered WP:OR. I won't pretend to be an expert on how the average seasonal viewer formula is ascertained, but I believe there are other factors taken into account. If you want an explanation, you'll have to ask someone else. I understand your question; I just don't have the complete answer you're looking for. In the meantime, we have a reliable source that has obtained the average number of viewers for Criminal Minds's tenth seasons; that's all we have to use. Davejohnsan (talk) 21:35, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

The average it simple to work out, it is account of each episodes rating divided by the number of episodes in the season. There no other way to work it out, and that is how all the other season 9 have been calculated. There are no other factors to take into account. It is impossible for season 10 to have 14.11 average viewers if the show viewing did not exceed 11 million. If you look at each of the criminal minds season ratings pages created on wikipedia is show that is how all the season figures have been added up. Each season had a break down of each episodes rating then an average has been calculated on the main show page, so on what grounds should season 10 be any different? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jay99a (talkcontribs) 19:33, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

I think we got a huge problem here!

Dear Davejohnsan. You not going to believe this, I've noticing the editor on the site: "AlexTheWhovian" who has been manipulating and doing unnecessary edit warring with the TV shows season articles by changing the colors on the multiple articles like Law & Order, The Mentalist, Hawaii Five-0, NCIS, and Criminal Minds, or more than that. But I'm gonna keep an eye out for him, because this editor is just making an example out of himself, cause I'm fed up with his editing warring, and can you please keep an eye out for him?

The Nanny (season 1)

Hi Dave. I noticed you had some edits at List of The Nanny episodes and I just wanted to bring to your attention The Nanny (season 1), which seems to be for all intents and purposes, an orphan article. Should this be the case? I came across the article, because its color use is not WP:COLOR compliant, but if the article doesn't have to exist in the first place, I thought you might know. Thanks. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:55, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

How is it an orphaned article? Davejohnsan (talk) 23:42, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for the late replay-just saw your response. Its an orphan because nothing of relevance to the season or series links to it. You can tell by this. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 05:05, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
It shouldn't be an orphan article. I think it has enough content to justify its existence. However, the main episode list (List of The Nanny episodes) makes no reference to the season 1 article and doesn't have any transclusions. That needs to be fixed so that it's no longer an orphan article. Davejohnsan (talk) 15:34, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Great. Taken care of. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:33, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! I would have done it, but I appreciate your help. Davejohnsan (talk) 17:17, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

George Huang (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit)

I realize this might just be pedantry upon pedantry, but there is no other notable George Huang character in any other L&O series, so adding the SVU designator just seems overly specific. Besides that, like many characters he had made some crossover appearances in other L&O series, although admittedly it even comparable to, say, Mike Logan having been a main character on two different shows (the mothership and CI). What do you think? hbdragon88 (talk) 23:56, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Give me some time to think about this and I'll get back to you today or tomorrow. Davejohnsan (talk) 01:01, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
@Hbdragon88:It looks like there is an inconsistency among characters whose names are similar to real-life figures. For example, the character Adam Schiff has (Law & Order) in the title to discern the character from my local congressman, while Ben Stone simply has (character). What change are proposing for George Huang? It was originally (Law & Order), but I added SVU because it's a completely separate series from the mothership and the clarification seemed necessary. Davejohnsan (talk) 15:32, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

I was going to just say move it back to the (Law & Order) but I feel now that we could just use (character) instead as there no other fictional George Huang characters that it could be confused with. hbdragon88 (talk) 20:15, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Up to you, really. I would prefer the article names be consistent across the board, but that's probably better addressed separately. Davejohnsan (talk) 20:53, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

De plane! De plane!

Hi Dave,

No, really. It IS "De Plane". You undid an edit I made to this page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herv%C3%A9_Villechaize

I had changed it from 'Ze Plane! Ze Plane!" to "De Plane! De Plane!" as that is clearly what the Tattoo character was saying, regardless of whether others misheard it as "Ze Plane!" I was alive and old enough to be aware at the time this show aired, and I watched it all the time. My edit was correct.

Here is a youtube video that proves my point:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mity4ewW464

The D sound is clear. It is certainly not a Z sound. I think you'll agree upon watching the video. Thanks.

Mark — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.220.194.162 (talk) 17:43, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

I understand your point here--and I'm sure you're right about it--but this distinction had nothing to do why I reverted the edit; rather, it was because you changed the link to an empty article page -- there is no article De plane! De plane!, only Ze plane! Ze plane! Davejohnsan (talk) 17:59, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Got it, thanks. This was my first attempt at editing a Wikipedia page. How, then, does one go about linking to the incorrectly titled "Ze Plane! Ze Plane!" article, while using the correct "De Plane! De Plane!" exclamation in the Herve Villechaize article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.220.194.162 (talk) 18:20, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Like this. You'll see how to write it once you edit this page. Davejohnsan (talk) 21:08, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

The Simpsons (season 26)

I noticed you reverted this edit on The Simpsons (season 26). Might I ask for a second look? It is not only removing the copy-paste flags, but all the affected episode summaries have been rephrased. After your reversion it is now back to the verbatim press releases... –Dark Cocoa Frosting (talk) 14:09, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

That was a snap judgment that turned out to be wrong. I saw the first plot summary and it looked like it was still too closely worded to the press release, but I can see there was an effort made to move away from that. I'll fix that. Davejohnsan (talk) 14:12, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

RE: Crossovers.

The crossover sections never were this long and included a brief summary. However people decide to include more information than is needed in my opinion. Look at other pages like the CSI shows and spin offs, Cold Case, Without a trace, Homicide life on the street, those pages list crossovers they had because as apart of a series overview. We look at a page of a TV show to get background info on it, which includes crossovers as they are major highlights of the show. And I ask that you not go edit those pages I just listed. Don't change something that has been there with no complaints and Is unnecessary to change, that's all I ask. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.175.173.77 (talk) 02:59, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

No worries - I'm not one to rock the boat. I'll get back to you in an hour or so. Davejohnsan (talk) 03:02, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
Okay, so I apologize first and foremost for stretching the definition of an hour, but the shows you mentioned have the same issue that I already mentioned here. Why is it necessary to give this much emphasis on a few episodes in the "general overview" section? Davejohnsan (talk) 17:11, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

Grammar ?

In your 'About me', paragraph 2: "Please remember that I am just as prone to making an error in judgment ...". I concur! Derfball (talk) 22:33, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

Took someone long enough to notice. Davejohnsan (talk) 22:36, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
@Derfball: You really think actors who had minor, one-time roles on certain episodes need to be listed on brief plot summaries? Davejohnsan (talk) 22:50, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

Once again (as you did with WP:TRIVIA), you're using the wrong link to justify your edit. WP:CONTEXTLINK says nothing about bold, and your edit had nothing to do with a link in the lead.

Also, there's no need to use parentheses in infobox titles. In fact, I would say that they should not be used because that's the actual subject of the article – and not parenthetical (incidental). —Musdan77 (talk) 20:08, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

The correct link was WP:BOLDTITLE. My apologies. Davejohnsan (talk) 14:48, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

GA Standards and severed legs

Hi, although I have near-zero knowledge of Family Guy in general, and only came into this by accident (namely via the review process), I'm curious: Going by what's available on YouTube, the money/leg incident happens as described, in that episode. What's the conflict with GA standards? Too much detail? It doesn't seem to be more or less relevant to the episode than some of the other details that are listed in the plot summary. here's the diff Markus Pössel (talk) 18:23, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

That and it was parenthetical commentary. Plot summaries should also be between 200 and 500 words. The severed leg detail, although true, was really only mentioned as an aside. Davejohnsan (talk) 18:31, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
I admit that my accepting the user's revision and then correcting it afterwards was also meant to be pedagogical - encouraging a user who appears to have wanted to add something to a WP article. But, yes, sure. Thanks for your reply and explanation. Markus Pössel (talk) 22:24, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Translation notification: Template:StrategyButton2016/editintro/Communities

Hello Davejohnsan,

You are receiving this notification because you signed up as a translator to Spanish on Meta. The page Template:StrategyButton2016/editintro/Communities is available for translation. You can translate it here:

The priority of this page is high. The deadline for translating this page is 2016-01-18.

- This is the part of a series of community consultation pages. The WMF Community Advocacy team has put together a list at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/2016_Strategy/Translations. We're hoping to launch the consultation on January 18th. Realizing getting all translations in place before the launch of the consultation may not be possible (and that people will likely help with translations after the launch), I'd be really grateful for any assistance especially that you can give in translating the templates at that Meta page link, like this one. It'll probably be harder for casual translators to help out with those!

- Text should be stable at this point. I've just made what I hope will be the last modification to those pages!

- Thank you for all you do, and I hope you will not only assist in translation (if you are able) but also take part in the consultation. Your input will be very welcome.

- Questions or concerns? Please let me know at mdennis@wikimedia.org. Thanks! Maggie
