Welcome!

Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, David-w-oaks! Thanks for the contribution to the Mad Pride article. Here are a few perfunctory tips that, hopefully, will enhance your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:

And some odds and ends: Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Verifiability, Village pump, and Wikiquette; also, you can sign your name on any page by typing four tildes: ~~~~. Best of luck, David-w-oaks, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman (talk) 02:41, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

David Oaks

edit

Hi David, I remember seeing you from living in Eugene, Mad Pride at OCF, etc. Just a note that you might like to read about how to edit articles about yourself, if you haven't read about it yet. But in the spirit of our guidelines about citing yourself, I'd say your recent addition was perfect. When in doubt you can always post notes to the article's talk page as well. Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, David-w-oaks. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page David Oaks, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. power~enwiki (π, ν) 20:23, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
