I have noted that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Good point. I'll be more careful with summaries in the future.
I was thinking it was obvious, since the diffs are generally self-explanatory. But, of course, if you don't look at the diffs, and just read the summaries, the fact that the diffs are obvious isn't really helpful. I was also thrown off because most of the edits I've done have been section edits, where the edit summary comes filled in already, so I thought maybe that's what it was meant to be in such cases. From the avalanche of resistance I was getting when I tried to make my point, I felt like maybe something was wrong with me for being so 'unpopular' or rather such a minority; so I was pleased to see someone else reasonable agreed with me. I'm a long time editor on WP but rarely receive any criticism because I'm mostly involved in clean-up issues. So when I do get a lot of resistance, I have to admit I'm impatient and I need to get a thicker skin because it's easy for me to get discouraged and lose steam when some people seem to have so much energy in merely defending their viewpoint instead of trying to understand the opposite point. Thanks. I think it's important for Wikipedia to strive for accuracy, and reporting the death toll as 28 struck me as very misleading. After all the debate, I've updated the verbiage on the page to show both 27 and 28 near each other, so both death tolls are clearly stated now. Deven (talk) 14:55, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
