It's not a scan from a book, no book features this map, it's a screenshot of a PDF file from Renfe, I work there.

"Vizcaya" vandalism

I read your note on vandalism on Vizcaya redirect page.

I'm not so experienced as to give you complete guide and Wikipedia help is complex and confuse and often suggest "do-it-yourself" reactions (quite logically, after all it's a Wiki).

I can only adress you to the Wikipedia Portal: Help, the Wikipedia:Vandalism page, related Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress page and Wikipedia:Arbitration policy page.

I think that basically you should revert the vandalic changes (Wikipedia:Revert) and, if persistent, you should report to an administrator.

I'll try to keep an eye on the issue. Thanks for commenting.

Basque Portal?

Kaixo, I'm contacting you because you figure in Category:User eu, meaning that you speak some Basque. You must therefore be Basque yourself or have an intense connection with the Basque Country.

I am thinking that maybe was a good idea to create a Portal (or maybe a Wikiproject? or both?) on the Basque theme but I feel such kind of project requires more than just one person.

Your proposals for selected content on Portal:Basque

Thank you for submitting candidates to selected content on Portal:Basque/Selected content candidates. However, I'd like to present the following recommendations/objections:

• Selected content on portals is expected to last longer than a few days, especially on newborn portals that are still widely unknown. I believe that for now selected content should remain on the portal on a monthly basis. So in this case December 1st could be a more appropriate date for changing the selected content.
• The article you proposed for selection is Basque mountains. That article is currently a stub and has a lot to grow before it becomes a viable candidate for selection. Instead, please select articles that already contain extensive content. Good/featured articles are particularly attractive to become selected on a portal.
• The image you proposed for selection is Image:PanoramaBilbao.jpg. Its width (panoramic mode) makes it rather unsuitable for inclusion in a portal box. Images should be chosen having in consideration how they would fit in the box. Also, the quality/detail of the picture is too low, perhaps you should search Wikimedia Commons for pictures with higher quality.

• Muy buenas, el problema no es la imagen, el problema es que estas alterando un template usado en 100 paginas, si quitas campos del template estas fastidiando otras 100 paginas aunque Madrid se vea bien, he cambiado Madrid para que use el campo de imagen "image_skyline" que es el que se usa en todas partes. Thus, the image was properly removed from the userbox template since a userbox is not part of the main article namespace, where such fair use images may only be used. Further, a fair use image that is not used in an actual article in the main article namespace is subject to deletion as it status if "orphaned", meaning that it is not used in that manner. The use of such an image on a template is against policy and furthermore does not change its status as being orphaned. Please do not remove the orphaned tag from the image again unless the image is used on a main article, and please do not add the image back to the userbox as this violates policy. Deja de mentir en la versión inglesea de wikipedia, la Copa de 1902 la ganó el Club Vizcaya no el Athletic, decis que el Vizcaya que jugó la Copa de 1902 fue un equipo resultado de la unión del Athletic con el Bilbao y que estos dos clubes se fusionaron definitivamente en 1903.

Sin embargo en la Copa de 1907 el Club Vizcaya jugó la final contra el madrid. ¿Cómo se explica esto? ¿Otra manipulación más de la historia tan habitual por aquellas tierras? 1902 Copa

Hi Deibid, I have posted the following info to BarcelonaMarc, to try and convince him that your opionion on Athletic and 1902 Copa is correct:

I am not disputing that Club Vizcaya won the Copa in 1902. However this team is part of Athletic Bilbao history. Club Vizcaya is not a separate club from Athletic, but is part of the clubs history. Several clubs including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and RCD Espanyol and Real Union have won the Copa del Rey under different names. All trophies won under their various names are included in one list. So why should the Athletic record be different ?

Below is a timeline which explains the early history of Athletic.

• Early 1890s: Bilbao FC formed by British workers.
• 1898: Basque students returning from UK form Athletic Club.
• 1902: Above two teams enter combined team known as Club Vizcaya in Copa del Rey.
• 1903: These two teams merge and form Athletic Club Bilbao
• 1907: The Club Vizcaya name is revived as Athletic Club de Bilbao and Union Vizcaino entered another combined team in the Copa del Rey.

The 1902 Copa is included in Athletic’s own honours list [1] and the trophy is in their museum [2]. The eleven Club Vizcaya players who played in the final - L. Arana, E Careaga, P. Larranga, L. Silva, A. Arana, Goiri, Cazeaux, Astorquia, W. Dyer, R. Silva, W. Evans - are all included in an archive of former Athletic players [3]. Djln--Djln 14:50, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Greetings Deibid, Thanx for your reply - hope I didn't come across as too sceptical - it's just that what people think and what is real/true very often don't coincide (as in the world is flat, etc.) and etymology is an especially wild area - check out the origin of the word Jazz (word) for instance here at Wikipedia. Green Spain

David, no problem if the northernmost part of the Alava province is to be included in the climatic zone Green Spain, but, if you look at the map (and received wisdom) most of the province is too cold and -more important than that- just below the rain threshold to be included.

Are you interested in climatic aspects of the iberian peninsula? I am! there is a lot of work to be done in geography (I dont think there is even an article for 'Sistema Ibérico', translation?), for, as you said, somewhere else, people is just too focused in the political aspects, while leaving these more easy (and basic) ones in the sides. Maybe I should ask for help at the wikiproject Spain, but I am not sure if or how many people is really working there...

Sobre banderas, versiones y otras cosas

Pues me parece que estás bastante confundido, querido David. En primer lugar porque no tengo ningún interés en destacar, y mucho menos por haber conseguido que una versión de la Wikipedia haya corregido un error. Ya lo he hecho otras veces y no me siento más importante por ello. Yo entiendo que la Wikipedia es un proyecto cooperativo y me limito a aportar mis conocimientos en las pocas materias en las que puedo hacerlo. Nada más. Así que, antes de juzgar intenciones ajenas deberías intentar saber de lo que hablas, y a mi, que yo sepa, no me conoces de nada.

A mi no me parece ni me deja de parecer que una o otra versión versión sea más justa o "más plana", como tú dices, aunque entiendo perfectamente que a muchos os parezca más "vistosa" la versión con escudo. Lo que creo haber demostrado es que según la legislación vigente en España, la bandera de España es la de tres franjas sin escudo, y mientras las leyes no cambien, eso seguirá siendo así, guste o no guste. Otra cosa, evidentemente, es la situación "de facto" que se produce en España y fuera de España (lo hemos visto en las recientes juegos olímpicos), en la que el uso de la bandera con escudo está bastante generalizado, aunque sea incorrecto. Todo ello viene de que la legislación española, al contrario de lo que ocurre en otros países (como en Alemania o en Austria, donde está castigado penalmente el uso de la bandera de Estado por particulares), se ha dejado este tema en un limbo jurídico y por eso se ha dado lugar a esta situación, que no es buena ni mala, simplemente es así.

En cuanto a que las restantes versiones cometen el mismo error, no creo que haga falta explicarte que en estos temas se suele hacer caso de la edición nacional correspondiente, porque, efectivamente, se supone que deben tener mayor conocimiento, lo que no siempre ocurre.

En cualquier caso, ya he dicho en la página de discusión que espero que alguien aporte la norma donde dice que la bandera de España debe llevar el escudo. Cuando la vea, cambiaré de opinión; mientras tanto, me mantengo en lo que he dicho, y creo que la Wikipedia debe atenerse en este asunto a lo que dictan las normas en vigor, aunque se recojan también las situaciones de hecho.

Ah, y personalmente me trae al fresco si eres monárquico, facha, pepero, cualquier cosa que se le parezca, o todo lo contrario. No me dedico a clasificar a la gente según esos parámetros.

Ya veo que persistes en tu afición a los juicios de intenciones. Allá tú. En cuanto a los hechos: ¿Me puedes decir dónde he dicho yo que "la bandera civil era mas adecuada históricamente" o dónde he hablado de "justicia, equidad y conveniencia de la bandera civil"?. Que yo recuerde, y al margen de lo que yo pueda opinar sobre este asunto, a lo único que me he referido es a la cuestión legal: Constitución, ley de banderas y Reglamento. Mis opiniones sobre qué símbolos deberían ser más adecuados me las reservo para otros foros.

Como bien dices, soy usuario de la Wiki española y de alguna más, y, efectivamente, en el artículo sobre la bandera de España hay algunas cosas discutibles, que discutiré cuando tenga tiempo y ganas, al igual que he hecho en otras ocasiones, si te parece bien.

Ya he tenido alguna polémica sobre este asunto allí, y no creas que he desistido. Al menos conseguí que las dos versiones aparecieran en pie de igualdad, y eso no lo considero en absoluto una mala experiencia. Insisto en que el problema aquí es que la ley dice una cosa y los hechos (amparados por las instituciones que deberían evitarlo) otra. A mi me parecería perfecto que se cambiaran la ley y el reglamento (que, por cierto, ya va siendo hora, desde 1977), pero mientras no cambien, esto es lo que hay. Y otra cosa, no estaría mal que cambiárais el fondo del userbox "This user is Bilbaino". There was a discussion at Wikipedia:Non-free_content_review#Image:PicassoGuernica.jpg about the imageof the Guernica painting, which is a non-free image. The agreement there was that the non-free image was overused, violating our non-free content criteria. Moreover, there was agreement there that the image should not be used on this article. Aizkorri name

Hi Dabid, Zelan??? I changed the title of the article Aitzkorri, which from the beginning I felt flawed, since it doesn't turn up almost anywhere, but I kept cautious. I had heard of Aitzgorri in Spanish, which is an awkward way of putting into Spanish a Basque word difficult to pronounce, but the proper and phonetical name is Aizkorri. Oddly enough, English-language Wikipedia does not portray these landmarks as UK mountains but as "Welsh", "Scottish" or "English" ones. In some entries, "Great Britain" does appear but only as an island (anyway "Great Britain" is a concept of little political significance).

Following the correction some Catalan mountains' infoboxes have gone through, all these peak should be listed as follows:

Location: United Kingdom

... but none is.

The same principle we admit to UK mountains should apply elsewhere, and therefore "Location: Catalonia" should be valid in spite of neither part of Catalonia (North and South) being a soveregin State.

Hope you understand that a principle of coherence is paramount in this issue.
