ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

- Hello Gderrin!
- I placed the template in the article, as the description is just a list of measurements, that while important from an academic perspective, provide little usable information for the average reader. In other words, I believe that the article, and especially the description section is far too technical to be easily understandable by most readers.
- I think the article could be improved if context is added to the each of the measurements (Why they are notable). If some of the measurements are not notable, and thus unnecessary to understanding the subject of the article, then in my view they ought to be removed. DemieK07 (talk) 23:54, 16 August 2026 (UTC)

- The article is much more than "a list of measurements". The technical template is at the top of the article, and presumably applies to the lead paragraph, the Description, Taxonomy, Distibution and habitat sections of the article.
- There are more than 70 species of Jacksonia. All of the "Jacksonia" articles have similar, but different, measurements. The only way that a botanist, a reader of the Jacksonia chappilliae article, or a grower of Australian native plants can tell them apart, is from the measurements in the Description. Jacksonia chappilliae is a rare species, and the only way it can be distinguished from others in the genus, is from the very measurement you have criticised.
- I have a Jacksonia in my garden - How can I know which species it is, and whether, or not, it is Jacksonia chappilliae?
- You have also separated the sections of the Description, so that there are no references for each paragraph. (See WP:REFB, especially WP:INTREF2)
- Please now remove the template. I shall correct the citations. Gderrin (talk) 01:07, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
