Gender identity in Costa Rica
editPlease stop providing inaccurate information about gender identity in article LGBT rights in Costa Rica. Gender changes on birth certificates or ID cards are not allowed in the country. The TSE resolution allows transgender people to legally change their names on ID cards according to their gender identity. We can't deny that is a huge step forward for a Central American country but gender change is still forbidden. The gender or "sex" marker is unchangeable by law. I provided sources in Spanish and English in the main article. Cheers Fhebynes (talk) 01:12, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

United States involvement in regime change in Latin America
editHi there, I have temporarily hidden some content at United States involvement in regime change in Latin America, which you added in January. I was wondering if you could clarify it? The paragraph reads:
- After left-leaning candidate Victor Raul Haya De La Torre of the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance won the Peruvian general election, 1962, CIA-supportedless the forces of moderation are able to bring about orderly change, radical leadership will probably get the chance to try its method." military commanders made a coup accusing Haya of voters' fraud, establishing a military junta under Ricardo Pérez Godoy.
I've read that several times and can't make sense of it. My best guess is that it's a combination of several sentences, and/or it's missing some words. If you could clarify, that would be great. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 01:55, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Template:Costa Rican elections
editNotice you have some edition on that template , got some question on it.
1. Before 1848 , Costa Rica was a part of the Federal Republic of Central America , it shouldn't have parliamentary elections right ?
2. According to Spanish wiki , the first presidential election of Costa Rica is in 1849 , is this a general election too ?
Thank you. -- Comrade John (talk) 08:56, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
A huge thanks on the big updates on the Costa Rican elections pages
editHello Derek. I want to immensely thank you on the edits you've been doing on the articles regarding Costa Rica's elections. The amount of effort you've put on translating the pre-1913 elections, as well as adding new info on each election -making them worthy of a read- is no easy task, but you've done a great job on making these professional articles. As you may've seen, I've been doing some work on the elections after 1949 (Second Republic) regarding the results; I'd love to do the same things on the First Republic elections but as I'm sure you know, we know almost nothing when it comes to the results of these elections; the most I have is Eduardo Oconitrillo's book (you know, the one we all Costa Rican election geeks have hahaha). If you know any source where I can get the results, or any other help you may need, do not hesitate on letting me know. My semester starts until March so I have plenty of time to kill.
Yours truly, --Maho713 (talk) 04:10, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Maho713, well yes I was planning to do it long time ago but until now I had time thanks to the holidays, and yes I have Oconitrillo's book in physical is incredibly insightful, but for the pre-1913 I was using this source from TSE, althoug is lacking data is some years. And yes I also noticed your work regarding the graphics in the elections very good indeed. Thank you. --Dereck Camacho (talk) 04:29, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

Bundestag
editDear Dereck Camacho,
I have reverted your recent edit in the Bundestag article and wanted, to tell you the reasons: The diagram should do two things: It should show the political makeup of the parliament and the actual seating. The CDU and CSU are in fact two different parties, but in the Bundestag they join in one group (the CDU/CSU-group, often also called Union-group) and this is the only thing, which matters here. I think, the word "party" (Partei) does not appear once in the standing rules of the Bundestag, at least not with respect to the actual MPs and the session-procedures. The FDP-group is seated between the CDU/CSU-group and the AfD-group (although they are not happy with this), this is simply a fact. The four independent members should also not be shown seated together, partly because that would be misleading (three of them are fomer AfD-members -> right-wing/conservative and one is a former SPD-member -> rather left-wing) and because that's not the way, they are actually seated. The two AfD-members are seated behind the AfD-group and the former SPD-member is seated behind the SPD-group.Alektor89 (talk) 12:19, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

2020 elections looming closer
editHello Dereck, hope you've been having a good time. I'm sorry I've fallen silent in the last months regarding Wikipedia, university has been a major drain to my time, plus I got a new laptop because the other was so terrible I couldn't open more than a program at a time. Anyways, I'm here to remind you of the 2020 Costa Rican municipal election. We should start planning on how to write the article. Some issues (not necessarily bad ones) regarding this election, as you may know, is that there are over 100+ parties registered for this election, plus several coalitions and alliances; as well as the creation of Río Cuarto and several new districts (like Matambú, Reventazón), which help push forward the number of elected officials in 2020.
Election period officially starts on October, but almost all candidacies are ready, so we could start dealing with that as soon as possible. Thank you for being such a huge help on these articles regarding Costa Rica's election. Maho713 (talk) 21:16, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

editInput in discussion
editThank you for your confidence in asking me to comment on the discussion going on with regard to the edits at 14th Dalai Lama. I prefer to get involved once the discussion becomes more structured, for example, through a formal RFC. As the discussion is organized now, I don't see how it can come to a final conclusion. I should also like to remind you that many of these discussions could be prevented if the article is brought to GA level, and formally reviewed for that. I have found that this will attract many experienced editors, who are happy to help prevent the article from being vandalized by some 5G-country's political interests.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 09:29, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Infoboxes
editHello Dereck. Thanks for adding the legislative election results to the Costa Rican election infoboxes. Just a couple of things to note – when you add the legislative election infobox to the main infobox, you have to use the code:
| module = {{Infobox legislative election | embed = yes
Otherwise it ends up looking a bit of a mess. Also, as the date, flag, last/next elections are included in the infobox header, you don't need to repeat it. You can also add another infobox election module to the presidential section so you can add the 'Presidential election' heading, and you can remove the presidential candidates receiving less than 5% of the vote. I've cleaned up 1990 Costa Rican general election and the others. Cheers, Number 57 15:25, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. I was wondering precisely why it ended up twisted like that. --Dereck Camacho (talk) 15:58, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Bundestag diagram
editHey Dereck Camacho! Yes, we already had this discussion. The problem is, the diagram is not up to date anymore, some more MP's have left their groups and now sit as non-inscrits - and I admit that I was lazy and made an update with the diagram tool some months ago, which up to some days ago everyone seemed to be ok with. I was quite sure (but maybe I am mistaken!) that you yourself suggested at the time to make a diagram in the order of "government - opposition", because you didn't want it to follow the seating order - and that's exactly why I did it that way, because I still think it's better than an arbitrary right-left scheme, where we would first have to discuss endlessly which party in Germany is more right or more left than which other party...One could also express it differently: I am willing, simply out of convenience, to forego the reproduction of the exact seating arrangement and to go for the variant "diagram in the order government-opposition", in each case from the largest to the smallest faction (which I remember you advocating, or at least consider feasible). The fact that you, of all people, do not agree with this now comes as something of a surprise to me. Would you please let me do the edit or make a different proposal. The diagram, that is now in the article, is simply outdated an needs to be changed. Alektor89 (talk) 15:02, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Alektor89 I think you are missremembering something. If you re-read the discussion I wasn't oppose of a diagram showing the seating. I was oppose to an arch diagram showing the seating as it will be missleading. I was in favor of a diagram showing the seating with the shape of the hemicycle. Now, if you want to use a Westimister-style diagram showing "government - opposition" I will be ok with that (although Germany does not uses a Westmister system). But I don't see how an arch diagram can show what group is opposition and what group is government. --Dereck Camacho (talk) 15:23, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

The article Conservative wave has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:INDISCRIMINATE. It is just a random listing of centre and right-wing governments in Latin America, with no clear context of what would tie them all together as a unity. Governments change or stay in elections always because of local factors, people do not vote the left or the right according to what happens at some other country. The lack of clear temporal boundaries does not help either.
