Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:DR Gaming Technology
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:DR Gaming Technology, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Welcome!
editHello, Dgpollock, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

You have an obvious conflict of interest and you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Dgpollock. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Dgpollock|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message. In reply to your query, also read the following regarding writing an article:
- you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. Your draft had no references of any kind.
- The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
- significant coverage in
- independent,
- multiple,
- reliable,
- secondary sources.
- Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.
- You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
- There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
- You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:24, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Hello Jimfbleak, My apologies for deleting a previous message from an alternate user, but I am new to Wikipedia and could not find where to open a new chat at all, hence my use of an existing one. I am also not sure whether this is the correct place to 'talk' to you either.
None the less, please can you let me know what I need to do to declare my conflict of interest, and/or how to get the most appropriate and relevant information on to Wikipedia without infringing on any of the relevant wiki Ts and Cs. I'd also appreciate some guidance as to how to ensure the draft I have (now re-done) remains in tact ahead of finalisng the above, and also whether their is an easier way to chat - I really find this current interface very challenging. Good afternoon Praxidicae
Please can you assist in guiding me how to make this content less promotional, and more encyclopedic.
Your assistance would be much appreciated, as I'd be happy to update and amend wherever required and then re-publish the updated content. please can you also let me know where I can save the article in it's existing guise so that I have a base off of which to do my edits.
I look forward to your assistance Dgpollock (talk) 14:45, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
- You can't save a promotional article on Wikipedia as we don't allow advertising. I would recommend you read the guidelines on editing that you were referred to above. Alternatively, try Wikipedia:Teahouse. Deb (talk) 15:26, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks Deb,
I am still trying to find my way around Wikipedia and how it works, I'll do my best to get some external assistance.
Regards Dgpollock (talk) 15:28, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Deb, hello again.
I see the page has now been deleted, can you offer any advice other than what is available via Wikipedia as to how to proceed. As I said I do not want to flaunt any rules, hence my request for some guidance.
Please let me know if you have some.
Thanks Dgpollock (talk) 15:42, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

Sandbox Access
Decline reason:
I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
- the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
- the block is no longer necessary because you
- understand what you have been blocked for,
- will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
- will make useful contributions instead.
Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 13:09, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Please could you assist in the above regard? I would like to proceed with publishing an article, but would greatly appreciate the assistance of some seasoned editors in the Sandbox, ahead of me doing so in order to ensure that the mistakes made initially and referred to above are not made again.
I look forward to receiving your assistance. Regards Dgpollock (talk) 12:40, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
- You need to address the concerns that lead to your block, including violating WP:COI and WP:PROMO. For example, demonstrate you understand why it was inappropriate for you to write about DR Gaming Technology and commit to not writing about that, or any other subject area for which you have a conflict of interest, going forward. --Yamla (talk) 13:09, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Hello Yamla and thanks for your reply,
I fully understand why my initial article was blocked, it was written with a promotional bias, and was not nearly as encyclopaedic as it should have been.
My intention was solely to add DR Gaming Technology to Wikipedia as a topic of interest, not for promotional purposes at all. Although I am an employee of the Company I am most definitely not an '....undisclosed paid editor spamming after multiple COI warnings.' as referred to at the end of September. At the time I had asked for guidance, and then when re-drafting my content inadvertently submitted the article for publication, and not to my Sandbox for review. What then happened was the immediate deletion of the article, and this user block, ahead of me being able to 'takedown', edit, and have reviewed and re-read any proposed edits.
Then, in specific respect of my COI: I am happy to disclose that I am an employee of the Company (as noted above), and commit to not proposing the publication of anything more than limited relevant information that is of interest to all users, unfortunately, I am presently unable to access my User Page in order to do so.
It is to the above end that I please request that my block be removed. Regards Dgpollock (talk) 13:38, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
- I would oppose unblocking you on that basis. --Yamla (talk) 14:39, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Is my understanding then correct that notwithstanding my being open and honest, and the fact that at any time you or any other contributor can edit and/or propose the deletion of an article or my contributor access, as is presently the case, the request to unblock me remains opposed?
I was really hoping to be afforded a 2nd opportunity, and to be able to prove my value as a contributor.
I'd would truly appreciate it if yo could review your opposition of my unblocking request. Regards Dgpollock (talk) 15:05, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
