If you check out WP:CITE, it will show you how to properly cite material, including books. If the sources is locked up in government archives like you are stating, and there is no way to get the citation information, then it might not be possible to use it as a source. hi,firstly the nadar article has been tagged too because the source is a problem.second this pandyan claim thing should be precise book citations by scholars where it is clearly mentioned.i think the problem arises because there hasn't been any serious research done by genuine scholars on who the descendants of the pandyans actually are.also the parava article needs lot of cleaning see the wiki format on writing good articles especially the tone and style.happy editing.LinguisticGeek 04:17, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

hi between i came across this page [1] .They also claim to be be pandyans.sources are pretty precise if you observe.LinguisticGeek 04:22, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

see no original research on wikipedia.also the article has a lot of other problems other the pandyan claim.tone and style.you can solve that problem than being stuck on the pandyan claim.also if you are a reasearcher than get your thesis(abt paravs being pandyas) published by some university and then you can use that as a legitimate source on wikipedia.you can't draw conclusion just like that history is dynamic .happy editing.LinguisticGeek 14:41, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

don't remove the tags put it back.make the corrections with citations now and i will check tomorrow if tags need to removed.i don't have time today.LinguisticGeek 15:39, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am able to give many references concerning the low caste status of the Paravar; here is one: [2], "Many of the Paravar are today tappers.". Stop your POV, vandalism, falsifications else i will provide more & more refs to show the low caste status of the Paravar.83.202.182.67 (talk) 10:41, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

look this pandyan claim by most tamil castes including paravar ,shanar(nadar) and others is original research and synthesis and a complete mess concerning tone and style.there isn't solid proof or evidence regarding most of these theories.wikipedia clearly needs scholarly citations. both the Nadar (caste) and Paravas article has been tagged problematic because of this concern. i might no longer be able to guide you because of time constraints and other editing which i have to do.you can ask your queries to some editors or use the help me tag.thank you LinguisticGeek 12:15, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Paravar

edit

Thanks for you help on Paravar. A few things.

  1. Please try to use full reference formats for the references you add. Some samples include {{Cite news}}, {{Cite web}}, and {{Cite book}}, as these enable other readers to look up the information you provide in detail. There's even an easy way to do that--if you go to "My preferences" in the upper right, then go to the tab marked "Editing", near the bottom, click on "Enable enhanced editing toolbar". This will add some functionality to your edit box, include a way to get pop up boxes that give you the most commonly needed fields for references.
  2. Please read through our policy requiring the use of a neutral point of view, which you can find at WP:NPOV. Much of what you just added was highly non-neutral; for example, the use of terms like "excellent" and "highly learned" are not neutral, and thus can't be in WP articles.
  3. Please be careful to provide extremely high quality sources for highly questionable claims, like the idea that the catamaran come specifically from the Paravar. We'll need a very strong source that explains that in detail to make such a claim. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:01, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ya warriors of a tribal(kattuvasi) community.Tax collector is another way of saying chieftian(they had complete civil authority). 10% of a very huge nadar population(the nadars constitute 80 to 90% of the population of southern tirunelveli and around Korkai!) is actually large. We lived in a real society. Not alone near the stinking sea. The paravars are a schedule caste near Kanniyakumari because dey are tribal illiterates.Sellin anythin dead or dealin with dead things is a extremely polluting occupation(the parayars made leather out the skin of dead animals and the paravars sold dead fish) and the paravars had to stay very far away from a brahmin territory unlike Nadars. The Nadar climbers or Shanars climbed trees and produced jaggery primarily. Toddy was only sold by some nadars. Thevars and nadars live in the same region(like in sivakasi and kamudi) not near the kuppam. Thevars will never consider a bunch of fisherman as their kin and the two races HAVE NOTHING in common.Manymembers of the Mukkulathore community are classed as backward caste(like kallars and agamudayars). Even the Ambattans(barber caste) come under the MBC category.Morever I have posted a link clearly provin that you were below the assaris and nadars.what is even more important is our current position in the society 'TODAY'. i am very well aware of the status of your caste(very poor!I ve seen many tamil movies like citizen)i am through arguing here and i am goin to mind my work from now on.so please.or do you want more.and watch your mouth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.96.136.80 (talk) 17:53, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Chevalier I.X.Pereira

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chevalier I.X.Pereira requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Music1201 talk 19:08, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Chevalier I.X.Pereira

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chevalier I.X.Pereira requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://archives.dailynews.lk/2002/04/11/bus11.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

—SpacemanSpiff 09:27, 16 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
