Notability of HighWon

edit

A tag has been placed on HighWon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. MBisanz talk 07:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tyresö FF

edit

Hi Divine time, I was looking at the two Tyresö FF articles and think it might be better if the women's was at Tyresö FF and we moved the men's team to Tyresö FF (men) or suchlike. As far as I can see, everything points to the women's team being the "primary topic". The women's team gets ten times as many page views, they're the champions of the country and pay six-figure salaries to players like Marta. Without being disrespectful to the male team, they appear to play in a lower division in front of relatively tiny crowds. In fact the male team might even be better covered as a paragraph in the main article about the women's team? I'd be interested to see what you think? Clavdia chauchat (talk) 12:21, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I understand your point but I have to say that I don’t agree with you. Naming articles has nothing to do with popularity or how successful the team is. I agree with you that the ladies team are much better, popular and has a greater value as an article here on WP but that’s not enough sorry. Let me give you a quick briefing in how Tyresö FF works:
Tyresö FF is the name for the main organization. All the teams in Tyresö use this name, more than 100 teams. Even the senior mens team use this name as an official name. The ladies recently formed a company, a joint-stock company to separate their economy and bring in some investors. Due to Swedish rules you have to own atleast 51% of the stocks, which main organization (Tyresö FF) do. The official name of the company/team(ladies) is…… Tyresö Fotboll AB. They just use Tyresö or Tyresö Fotboll as a name officially. So, I think that naming the ladies team to Tyresö FF is wrong. If something it should be Tyresö Fotboll but that is also something I don’t really think is right due to WP:COMMONNAME. I think the name should just stay. --Divine time (talk) 18:59, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi Divine time, thanks for the reply. I meant naming in terms of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC; we should, I think, be looking at things like incoming wikilinks, article traffic and g hits to establish what the main topic at "Tyresö FF" should be. UEFA and SvFF use Tyresö FF for the women's team — what part of WP:COMMONNAME in particular do you think makes it wrong for us to follow this lead? Certainly the "prevalence in reliable English-language sources" points towards Tyresö FF being the common name of the women's team.
I was considering taking this to WP:RM, but just wanted to get a handle on why you'd moved it first. Clavdia chauchat (talk) 20:48, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Something certainly needs to be done there - you would never know from the main "club"/mens article that the women's team are actually the more significant. But that is perhaps best done by adding text rather than just shunting the womens' content off that article. Johnbod (talk) 14:28, 18 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

HONOURS

edit

Hi there DT, AL from Portugal "speaking",

please, i'm trying to keep coherence in contents of the footballers' articles. Thus, please leave Bruno Alves' honours where they were. My suggestion of approach is the following: CLUB CAREER (or a section of EARLY YEARS before that if worth inserting), with all the due club sub-sections, INTERNATIONAL CAREER, with the INT.GOALS chart sub-section, HONOURS, STATISTICS and PERSONAL, with REFERENCES and EXTERNAL LINKS closing the "parade".

Attentively --AL (talk) 15:21, 10 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sure, no problem. I just thought that the article didn't have an active editor and just left the layout of the section to be. --Divine time (talk) 09:20, 11 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sasa Sjanic / Saša Sjanić

edit

Hello!

I have seen that you have changed the spelling "Saša Sjanić" to "Sasa Sjanic". I am a little curious why you did it. He is of Bosnian descent and Sasa in Bosnian is spelled "Saša" and Sjanic is spelled "Sjanić". Here is also a source that confirms his name. // Mattias321 (talk) 08:44, 7 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I guess you have read my comment on the move, in the "history log". I know how the Bosnian spelling is done but however Sasa doesn't use the true bosnian spelling. On official sources (not fotbollskanalen who just copy/pastes whatever they can find on google), such as Gefle IF's official page, or SvFF uses the current spelling. And besides that this is the most common name(spelling) however. So I think the article should stay this way. This is accully very normal in Sweden. Alot of Bosnian players use a more "simplified version" in Sweden, even turks.

This name agrees with both: WP:COMMONNAME WP:NAMINGCRITERIA

I think the best solution to "solve" these kinds of problems is to approch it as they done in Kennedy Bakircioglü article: Kennedy Bakircioglü (Turkish: Bakırcıoğlu; born 2 November 1980) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a right midfielder for Hammarby.

Question regarding revert on article "eRepublik"

edit

Hello! Just a short question regarding the revert: So I am not allowed to publish a link even if I am the biggest tool provider? Should I ask someone else to do it so it is no "advertisement for own purpose"? The external link is directly connected to eRepublik, in case you want to do a small research regarding this topic, you may want to take a look at the wiki of eRepublik.

Furthermore you may also take a look at the other languages, where most of the external links are directly connected to community activities as these give a better insight into the game - and it is the same with my website. (Master rg (talk) 15:52, 16 November 2015 (UTC))Reply
