Recent changes

  •   CSS in templates can now be stored in a separate page on all wikis. This is called TemplateStyles. This is to make it easier to edit how templates look. [1]

@AdamPrideTN: Well, if a link to other languages is all you need then Wikidata is the place to be, otherwise you could insert [[:w:vi:NAME OF THE ARTICLE IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE]] and a bot will migrate it automatically to Wikidata, I would love to help but I have trouble understanding your request, should I add it to Wikidata? --Donald Trung (talk) 06:54, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

Concerning categories

I have 2 questions please First Sophus Thalbitzer is about a straight ally doctor who like Evelyn Hooker helped to decriminalise homosexuality in Denmark His categories are only LGBT history in Denmark But i added the categories of sexual orientation and psychology and the one of sexual orientatiin and science just like those of Evelyn Hooker ones. So should Evelyn Hooker be added to LGBT history in the US category Should Evelyn hooker and dophus trablitzer both be added to the category of LGBT activists in the us and in denmark resoectively Since that category contains a lot of LGBT allies and friends and scientists or what?

Second the page Lesbian Movement (Denmark) is in the category of LGBt history in denmark It is an lgbt assiciation that is defunct now Should it be put in LGBt assiciatii's in denmark category or what Or be created in a new categor of defunct lgbt association in the denmark as i qaw this category with many associatiins Or what what do u think Sorry for the bother again This may sound stupid and unnecessary for some But it is so important and improving believe me And thx AdamPrideTN (talk) 01:54, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

The Growth Team, formed in July 2018, supports some former Collaboration projects. The Growth Team's main objective is to ease new editors' first steps on wikis, through software changes. You can discover all objectives and missions of the Growth team on its page.

If you wish to be informed about Growth team's updates about easing new users first steps, you can subscribe to the new list to get updates. The first message from Growth –with a call for feedback on a new project– will be posted in a few days!

Hello Sorry to bother u but u are only one of the few who i know who can help and did respond to me An update Concerning Tommy Ahlers He is a danish politician and cabinet minister who just came out as bisexual madame, I'm still new here and still learning little by little I want to translate his page into Arabic but i cant till this important update So can u please create a personal life subtitle in his page or just add it as an info that after reading the resources he came out as bisexual after reading some of the references And if u cant or dont have time Just say it ots ok sorry to bother with that so i can maybe ask an other editor bcos if i post in its discussion space or discussion on lgbtstudies nobody will answer or look fir it as it happened before These are english references https://www.gaytimes.co.uk/news/111812/danish-politician-tommy-ahlers-comes-out-as-bisexual/

@AdamPrideTN: shouldn't this best be placed under a section called "sexuality"? But "Personal life" is fine too, I don't really write much about biographies of living persons, and if you need to translate something into the Arabic language you could best write it at the Arabic Wikipedia. --Donald Trung (talk) 20:19, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments: photo and writing contests
During September, the annual international photo contest on cultural heritage, Wiki Loves Monuments, will be held. There will also be a 2-week long Wikipedia writing contest about cultural heritage.
Meet-up at Litteraturhuset, September 4th
For this meet-up, Anine Kierulf has been invited to talk about Wikipedia and the Constitution of Norway – about article 100. "Wikipedia is decidedly the largest and most used encyclopedia in Norway, while it also has many shortcomnigs. Article 100 of the Constitution says The authorities of the state shall create conditions that facilitate open

and enlightened public discourse, so is this a challenge for the authorities?" The event is free and open to everyone. You can register on-wiki or in the Facebook event.

Wikigrants, deadline September 15th
All contributors to the various Wikimedia projects can apply for our wikigrants. The maximum amount is 8 000 NOK. The wikigrant must be used for activities that support one or more Wikimedia projects.
Researchers' Days, September 26th
During this year's Researchers' Days, we will discuss what can be done to make women's contributions to culture and the arts as publicly visible as men's contributions. We are inviting organizations and people who have worked on the subject to talk about why it is important to do something about this, to share the good methods and not least to inspire to action. See the Facebook event.
#wikinobel, September 27th
A #wikinobel event will be held at the Nobel Peace Center on this date. More information is coming on wikimedia.no.
Workshop: Wikidata, November 10th
A new workshop on Wikidata! There will be merch from Wikimedia Deutschland to celebrate that Wikidata is turning 6. Feel free to suggest topics on the registration page.

Here's your quick overview of what has been happening around Wikidata over the last week.
  • Other Noteworthy Stuff
    • Structured Data on Commons: A draft specification for using Depicts statements on Commons is up for community feedback.
    • It's possible to add somevalue and novalue using QuickStatements, and to use the tool on test.wikidata.org as well.
    • More properties can be searched using haswbstatement. This includes all properties with "external identifier", "string", "item", "property", "lexeme", "form" and "sense" datatypes, except published in (P1433) and cites (P2860). In addition you may make queries without a specified value.
    • The page creation and edit rate limit imposed in April will be removed in the next days. However, users who are not bots or administrators are throttled to 90 edits per minute (which was set up on all Wikimedia wikis in May).
    • These new languages are now supported for monolingual text strings: mid, mnw, gmy, rar, haz, uga. The language doesn't show up in the suggester, but you can save the statement and it will be stored properly.
    • Reminder: Wikidata's sixth birthday happens in two months. It's time to think about organizing a meetup with your local community, or preparing a gift (see the list of presents last year).
    • Lexicographical data: you can now try Senses on beta
    • 25% of the labeling campaign to improve the vandalism detection on Wikidata has been done. Please help by reviewing a few edits!

    • More work on merging Lexemes
    • More work on data types and edit summary for Senses
    • Improve qualifier suggestions using constraint definition (phab:T201288)
    • Improve constraint property item suggestions for property constraint values (phab:T199672)
    • Remove ratelimit from Wikidata for some groups again (phab:T198396)
