GIVE IT A REST AND STOP PUTTING FALSE INFO ABPUT HIS AGE JESUS ARE YOU DELUSIONAL

Thanks to the previous Editor who gave me guidance, below, on how to update the birth year of Billy Morrison. I apologize for not having done so in the proper fashion; I respect that Wikipedia has rules for good reason, to protect the integrity of the platform.

I had tried to be transparent about my affiliation, as a digital strategist for Coalition Technologies (https://coalitiontechnologies.com), doing this work for Billy (actually in return for some reviews, not money, but I realize that is valuable consideration). I'm sorry I did not make this declaration properly. I have followed the links provided by the previous editor, but I have to admit I'm a bit confused. I just want to make sure that I do the declaration properly next time (and thank you for telling me to not post my email address publicly, which I had done trying to be transparent).

As for the date, I told Billy that it needed to be published online in a verifiable source, such as a verified social media account, as the previous editor suggested. So Billy added the birth year to his official Facebook account, and set the privacy settings so that the year is visible to the public, not just friends. Here is that page: https://www.facebook.com/BillyMorrison/about_contact_and_basic_info

Would you please update the birth year? Or tell me exactly how I should do it properly?

Finally, I understand why you don't think this page should be protected: Looking back at the edits, fortunately there doesn't seem to be any pattern of malicious intent to change or remove the date.

Again, thank you for having responded so quickly in the first place. I apologize for not knowing the right way to go about updating the year, and declaring my doing so on his behalf as part of an agency. I would sincerely appreciate any help in doing this update and my declaration with as little additional trouble for you or me.

Thank you for any help,

Doug Drenkow Digital Strategist Coalition Technologies

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. I am a digital strategist at CoalitionTechnologies.com -- we have been approached by the guitarist Billy Morrison, because his year of birth is reported incorrectly, as 1955, in the Wikipedia summary of his bio that appears atop search results pages; it was also quoted on TV incorrectly because of the search result. He attempted to simply remove the year in the Wikipedia entry, leaving the month and day; but that seemed to have no effect. I have just added the correct date, 1969, which he told me was OK to post; you may confirm this with him directly, [email protected]. I am hoping that this correct year will displace the incorrect year, after Google next crawls that page. Any help on your part, as in your Google Search Console, to expedite that would be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe that Billy is the victim of any malicious "vandalism" -- going through the edit history since 8 March 2015, I find only these edits for the year of his DOB:

5 Nov 2020 - adding 1969 (my edit, with notes verifying the authenticity of the source, you, having come to us, Coalition, with email addresses to verify)

27 Oct 2020 - removing 1955

2 Sep 2020 - adding 1955

14 Aug 2016 - removing 1959

10 Aug 2016 - adding 1959

9 Apr 2016 - removing 1959

21 Mar 2016 - adding 1959

24 Aug 2015 - removing 1968

24 Aug 2015 - changing 1965 to 1968

13 Aug 2015 - adding 1965

However, it would give Billy peace of mind, and set the record straight, if that year of birth could be somehow protected from any further edits. Again, please contact Billy to verify.

Thank you for any help!

First, you will need to review the paid editing policy and make the required paid editing declaration(a Terms of Use requirement). You should also review conflict of interest. Regarding the birth year, I don't think this is a serious enough issue to warrant page protection(the entire page would need to be protected, we can't protect just a portion); a few edits a year like that is not unusual for a Wikipedia article. It would need to be a few edits a day or a week. You are welcome to monitor the article to correct the incorrect birth year should it recur.
Note that the birth date will need a reliable source in order to be included; preferably an independent one, but something like a verified social media account or official website would also suffice for a birth date. I've removed the year until a source can be provided. You may make a formal edit request(click for instructions) on Talk:Billy Morrison to readd the date with the source. 331dot (talk) 10:03, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would also strongly advise you to not post your email address in this public forum, for your own protection. You may add it to your account Preferences and enable the "allow other users to email me" also in the Preference, to allow users to email you without revealing your address here(though if you reply to other users that would reveal it). Most Wikipedia related business should occur on Wikipedia, for openness and transparency, when possible. 331dot (talk) 10:04, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Help me!

edit

Thanks in advance for your help.

As I've openly noted before, I am with an agency, Coalition Technologies, that Billy Morrison has reached out to; our only interest in this is some nice reviews he has already written us, without any payment -- I am following through now without commercial interest, only personal concern for Billy, now my friend.

The issue is, his birthdate is continually being reported incorrectly -- many years too old.

Currently, his birthdate is being reported in Wikipedia (and thus in Google searches) as 1955, which would make him 65 years old.

That was due to a recent edit:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Billy_Morrison&action=history

curprev 18:16, 9 February 2021‎ 2601:19d:303:7a20:f177:2066:3a1d:9128 talk‎ 15,118 bytes 0‎ Billy Morrison is 65 1955 not 51 lol undo Tags: Mobile edit Mobile web edit

This is NOT an "lol" laughing matter to Billy.

If you go to the Cycle World article that was cited in the edit you see the following:

https://www.cycleworld.com/billy-morrison-rock-guitarist-artist-and-motorcycle-rider-cycle-world-interview/ August 25, 2016 "The 49-year-old was raised on two wheels."

That would mean that Billy is now about 55, not 65, in 2021.

However, the fact is that Billy's birthdate is 9th February 1969 -- to verify that, he followed a Wikipedia admin's advice an posted that birthdate in his official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BillyMorrison/about_contact_and_basic_info

Because his birthdate has been changed so often, Billy is afraid that he is a victim of a troll (the "lol" in that last edit suggests that); but even if these are innocent mistakes, he wants the record set straight once and for all.

Is there a way, please, for his birthdate to not be editable? Again, please check his official Facebook page, which only he controls, to get the factual date, which of course will never change.

Thank you very much for any help. Again, Billy has already written nice reviews of our agency; we have charged him no money and are charging him no money -- at this point I just personally want him to get the correct info online about him.

(Non-administrator comment) Hello! I've reverted the edit in question. Going forward, you can use this link to make your request. As for making DOBs not editable, 331dot, an admin, has already given you a pretty complete answer above. I wish I tell you otherwise. Of course, if you have questions about a specific part of their previous answer, please feel free to ask for clarification. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 22:06, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
