Heathrow Plans

Hello There Dream Out Loud. I am extremely unhappy at the fact that you have gone and deleted the plans that I took about a whole hour of my life to do. Therefore, you have officially just wasted my life. Fair enough I did not put the source - I'll tell you now. I don't actually know some of the coding, so I'll have to have a look at some other company logos, and go from there. I made it by first looking on Google Earth. I print screened it and then traced over it. How can I represent THIS information in my actual image?

Thank you, and no thank you for that message. So bu-bye now. Get back to me ASAP please.

AMistry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Amistry.mistry (talkcontribs) 19:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

First, don't accuse me of something that I didn't do. I'm just a regular user and I don't have the ability to delete images. I can only tag them for administrators to review them, and then they are the ones who delete them. Second, you need to always state the source of your images, or they'll eventually get deleted. If you created it yourself, then say that you created it yourself, and you can be your own source. This is important because images taken from other websites are not allowed on Wikipedia. Third, I tagged that image almost two months ago, which is a long time ago, and I'm really not concerned about an edit made in February during April, especially since I make many edits here everyday. –Dream out loud (talk) 01:46, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Well sorry. We're only human after all. I'll make those edits and see what I can do. Amistry.mistry (talk) 18:40, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Re-releasing of U2 albums

Hi Dream out loud, there is a discussion on Talk:War (album) about whether to include information on the possible re-releasing of War, October, and Boy that you might be interested in. MelicansMatkin (talk) 18:44, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

You tagged it for deletion. The source used to be here and then http://news.yahoo.com/photo/071022/photos_en/2007_10_21t233915_398x450_us_kidrock;_ylt=A9G_Rnj5OCNHHgoBNiHK.nQA well eventually web pages go.

But it is a mugshot so it qualifies as legit. William Ortiz (talk) 20:07, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I didn't tag the image for being illegitimate. I tagged it because it doesn't have a license. Is it copyrighted or in public domain? If it is in public domain, how do you know it is? Images are typically not in the public domain unless their sources specifically says so. This is why having an image license is important. –Dream out loud (talk) 03:08, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
When I uploaded it, the yahoo news article had not been deleted. The image's license is a mugshot. Mugshots are supposed to be public domain or something. I think mugshot is it's own license, but I am not sure. William Ortiz (talk) 13:20, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
An image cannot be its own license because the image itself does not state whether or not it is free. Not all mugshots are in public domain. If it was released prior to 1923, or if it was published by a U.S. federal government source, then it is in public domain. If it comes from a state or local government, or from somewhere else, then it may not be in public domain, so it must be copyrighted, unless the source states otherwise. –Dream out loud (talk) 15:13, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Image:Facebook Logo.svg

While the image of the Facebook logo is indeed a vector file composed of geometric shapes, the logo as a whole is definitely copyrighted. Just as the Google logo is formed of simple colored text, and the Microsoft logo is simply black letters, the logo is still fair use, not free use. CaseyPenk (talk) 23:09, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

The Facebook logo is not copyrighted because, as stated in the template {{PD-textlogo}}, typefaces and words CANNOT be copyrighted. Same goes for Google's and Microsoft's logo. In fact, they are both uploaded to Commons, along with tons of other company logos which are also in public domain. Facebook's logo has been uploaded to Commons as well, and I don't see any reason why it would be deleted. See Commons:Category:Company logos. –Dream out loud (talk) 00:55, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:PATH.svg

I'm concerned about the license you selected on this image because the website that the pdf that was extracted the logo from is copyrighted. (http://www.panynj.gov/disclaimerframe.htm) If anything this looks more like a Fair-use issue.  — master sonT - C 04:28, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

A recent nomination for deletion at AfD

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust - Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust is very much a notable organisation in the region and the article itself asserts notability, is proportionally sourced, not promotional etcetera. Due to these factors, I've closed the AfD early and consensus was at AfD to keep it. Regards, Rudget. 12:46, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tube map thumbnail.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tube map thumbnail.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:33, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't know the template for this offhand, but I removed the Family Guy logo from Family Guy. It has been deleted from FG articles before. See Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, particularly policy #8, for reasons why. Essentially, "decorative" images are not allowed. Most infobox images probably will be deleted sooner or later. Part of Wikipedia's mission is to develop the entire encyclopedia using free content, so the requirements are fairly strict. / edg 18:17, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I didn't mean to revert your edit, that was a horrible accident, I misheard the data in the Anti-vandal tool and I though I was reverting the vandals edit. I'm sorry about this. MalwareSmarts (talk) 21:15, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

It's ok, I figured it was an accident. I just requested U2 for semi-protection so hopefully we won't need to be reverting vandalism anymore. –Dream out loud (talk) 21:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Achtung Baby.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Juno GA nom

Hey, I see you just nominated Juno for GA status -- and as one of the main contributors to the article I'd really appreciate it if you withdrew the nom, considering that you haven't really contributed to the article in the past, and considering that it just isn't up to scratch for GA yet. There are heaps of prose issues, lots of refs missing, the whole critical reception needs to be re-written, the lead needs a re-write and the plot needs polishing (well, all of the prose in fact). I was eventually hoping to get the article to GA but it really just isn't ready yet. Thanks :) —97198 talk 16:02, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that :D —97198 talk 16:06, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

U2

Hello there. I just got your message. I will answer properly later tonight re collabs, etc, except to say that the U23D article is looking excellent. I’m now in deep mourning having just found out that U23D’s run at my “local IMAX” finished just last night – I thought it was next week. Well, I got to see it twice last month, and meant to see it again – it will never be on again. I’ve been to 7 U2 concerts since 1989, and the film was just as good – different to live, but just as good. The sound quality was brilliant. --Merbabu (talk) 04:16, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

What a difference 24 hours makes - the local IMAX have just decided to run it late on Fri, Sat, Sun nights for the next few weeks. Woo hoo - at least one more time for me then.
As for wikipedia, I haven't yet had a chance to review U2 3D in detail, but it as a look of quality about it. But, in the meantime try looking at this. I recommend spending some time on it. It was very helpful for me getting Indonesia and U2 to FA. I'd say work on U2 3D for the time being, then head to Popmart (I can probably assist on that one). Ie, work on what interests you, but don't get too close to it as it blinds one to the value in the criticisms/reviews of others. Ie, during FAs, recommendations that I initially hated within a day or two seemed excellent! Ie, sleep on criticisms. As for U2 articles, if I could spend time on them, my priorities would be Zoo TV, The Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby (in that order but reversed!) But, there is a pile of Indonesian history articles I want to sort out too (see History of Indonesia - the 20th century stuff mainly), and also I started this and want to see it go to FA.
Anyway, the main point of my ramble is to recommend you work on that Guide (not that I'm commenting in anyway on your writing - I'd recommend it to anyone). It is by no means gospel - for example, sometimes the word "also" is actually helpful.--Merbabu (talk) 00:06, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey – why not send it to peer review now? Input from other non U2 editors would be good – although often peer review gets a limited response. But just try. In fact, why not even put it up for GA as well - now? Although I think it actually has a good chance of getting GA straight away, don’t be afraid of it being rejected - this might be your best result as the editor should provide good and workable improvement recommendations. If not, you can ask. That’s what the article needs. And, both peer review and GA often have time lags, so get it up soon is my suggestion, but up to you. --Merbabu (talk) 00:21, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Another review from the Sydney Morning Herald for your response section. This is the more serious of the two main local papers in Sydney. Goes over two pages - it's a strong review. --Merbabu (talk) 03:47, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Breezeway.jpg

PopMart for GA

I think it would be a good idea to mention the costumes that the band wore. The bodybuilder spandex shirts, Bono's introduction in a boxing robe, the Edge dressing like a Village People biker, etc. I think this is a key part of understanding the pop culture element of the tour that the band was trying to explore. Speedy deletion of Image:Continuum.png

A tag has been placed on Image:Continuum.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Continuum.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notability of The Lovely Ladies

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The Lovely Ladies, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The Lovely Ladies seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting The Lovely Ladies, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. pluto cutaway diagram

Is Pluto's core hot or cold. Because the blue part of structure made of water and ice possibly is pluto's mantle. Gray part of Pluto's interior diagram is Pluto's core this covers lke 80% of planet's volume. Isn't it made of ice and water, or silicate? Gnerally how hot or cold is pluto's core? And when interior meant by ice does it neccessairly mean its cold?--Freewayguy Call? Fish 00:11, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm really not sure about that since I didn't make the diagram. I only edited the image to change the copyrighted photo to a plain colored circle to make it a free image. The image was created by RP88, so contact that user with any questions you may have. –Dream out loud (talk) 04:51, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

That user is not been on since March 2008, and he won't be able to answer. Do you think Pluto's core is hot or cold?--Freewayguy Call? Fish 14:57, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I have no idea whether it is hot or cold. Not to sound rude, but I don't see how my opinion of Pluto's core is relevant since that would constitute as original research and doesn't belong anywhere on the encyclopedia anyway. –Dream out loud (talk) 19:16, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Serendi told me this earlier, I think its safe not to write on Wiki whether Pluto's core is hot or cold becasue we have no definite answer. The reason is Pluto is not yet visited by spacecraft, but its sky must be black because of the thin atmosphere. The simple answer is nobody knows. The guess is possibly not over 1000 C, because no convections, one speculation is it may be warm enough to possibly water vaporizes.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 22:48, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Days Inn logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

IMAX Corporation

If you're going to add the "merge to" tag on this article, you need to also add the "merge from" tag on the accompanying article. Also, on whichever talk page you decide is the best forum for the discussion (currently set up for Talk:IMAX), you should provide a rationale for why you feel this merge is appropriate.

Personally, I'd argue against the merger — one article is about the company, while the other is about the film format itself and its history. But that's just my two cents. Mlaffs (talk) 18:01, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Use of Twinkle

Please be more careful. If something needs to be done (speedy tagging), but Twinkle requires you to do something you should not do (adding the template to an admin's talk page), then please don't use Twinkle for that edit. Daniel (talk) 02:57, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Remington College

I am trying to create a page dedicated to a vocational college that is in reference to Colorado Springs,Colorado. This institution is a very large for profit school system. I would appreciate it if you would stop requesting speedy deletion of my work. There is no reason why this cannot work, maybe with your help this could be a better page. I have already read the requirements for a wiki page and referenced material fits the criteria. If you could help make this page better I would appreciated it. Thanks! administrative vandalism

I asked for your help and you persistantly ignore it and choose to delete pages that you do not want to see. The article I wroteRemington College is referenced in many cities. Stop using your administrative rights to vandalize other people's work.Consider yourself warned   Please stop. If you continue to blank out or delete portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to Remington College, you will be blocked from editing. New Page Patrolling

Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 02:39, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Just to let you know that I've nominated Image:Coldplay_Viva_la_Vida.jpg for deletion at commons as I don't believe it can be considered a faithful reproduction. The discussion page is here. --JD554 (talk) 07:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Use this instead?

User:J.reed/Sandbox/PATCO

Do you think we can use this for PATCO? It needs some improvement and possibly new icons. Let me know. j.reed (talk) 23:29, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:The Girls Next Door.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Another SEPTA problem

I noticed that you created the Template:S-line/SEPTA left/Subway-Surface. Why can't I get that one to stop hiding the termini for Routes 13 and 36? I just recently found out about another stop(Elmwood Carhouse) along Route 36 in between Eastwick Loop and the 40th Street Portal, and when I tried to make it the previous stop I suddenly realized Eastwick was lost as the terminal, and so was Darby for Route 13. ----DanTD (talk) 20:53, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Problem has been fixed. I see that you were trying to make the branch parameters into piped links. Since the s-line template uses syntax from other rail templates, the {{SEPTA lines/branches}} template had to be edited to create the piped links. That template has been updated, and the 40th Street station article has been changed back to its original template parameters. –Dream out loud (talk) 23:39, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Image deletion warning for Commons

Hi Dream out loud, since you are asking for a notification on your English Wikipedia talk page: I have put Image:U2 3D Santiago.jpg, which you transferred to Commons, up for deletion. Please see its entry at Commons:Deletion requests/U2 concert images. Best regards, --ChrisiPK (talk) 21:36, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Fixing redirects which aren't broken

Hi,

Regarding this edit: it's not necessary to avoid redirects, especially in the case of shortcuts which may change in future if a policy page is split up, for instance. For that reason I have reverted this edit. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 19:34, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
