Venezuelan Politics case

Hi! At Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Venezuelan politics there is a typo in the involved parties section – it should be "WMrapids" with a lowercase r (it currently shows "WMRapids" so it appears the user does not exist). Not sure if I can fix it or if it should be left to the clerks :) –FlyingAce✈hello 23:24, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

IP block exemption

Hi! I have came here in a good faith for a little help that I need. I have been blocked for past 2-3 through my IP address of my router, and I am unable to edit English Wikipedia.

I did try the UTRS, but the admins there declined my request without a proper reason, even though I had multiple appeals. I don't know how would I fix it but I ensure that not even by mistake I will edit Wikipedia with my VPN on.

Oversight

Hi again, @Dreamy Jazz. I guess you don't remember me anymore, but that's the least of it. I come here to ask you for oversight of an edit on my user page that I just reverted. I don't know if you could, the sooner the better, or else it will be archived and my goal with the reverted edit would be in vain for archiving in Wayback Machine. I'm sorry for making you waste your time on stupid things. Santi (talk) 17:00, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, ignore this message. I realized that some twerking archived my page with the obsolete information, it was of no use. Santi (talk) 17:03, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I wasn't sure where to post this and figured user talk is a good first stop.

I keep getting spammed with notifications, a few a week, from every user talk page I've ever posted to that the topic "arbcom elections now open blah blah" was archived. I never subscribed to those threads, obviously.

What's going on? Please don't tell me I have to set up a Phabricator account and report it or something.

Confused, RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 22:38, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

I think that is related to the DiscussionTools extension. I cannot really debug this issue so you would need to create a Phabricator account and report it. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 10:19, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:

sockpuppet template

Hi Dreamy Jazz, Hope you're well,

I've added the sock template to the userpages of New yorker jounlaist ‎, Wikipedianjo, Skymansky3 as these have been globally-locked for being علي أبو عمر socks but I don't know if these would still be under proven or suspected?,

Thought I should ask incase I've tagged these under the wrong one (proven/suspected), Many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 09:13, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

In general, sock tags are added after cases at WP:SPI so sometimes tagging socks that have been globally locked but then not reported at enwiki may not be necessary (especially for cases where the user creates accounts frequently). In this case, as they are globally locked for socking you might as well add the tags. I would suggest that in general if you are unsure you tag as suspected (absent a WP:SPI case or a CU giving some kind of result). Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 16:10, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Okie dokie I'll remember that going forward, Many thanks. –Davey2010Talk 18:02, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Deleted Content Needs Restoring

Good morning - I recently updated the Sun Capital Partners page (it took me hours, because I'm brand new) and I was flagged by an editor who expressed I might have a conflict of interest, and the page was deleted. I would love to have that page or that content restored somewhere. Like I mentioned, I'm more or less new to longer edits, and I also spent several hours reading through the edit guides. After so much effort, simply to fix some issues, I'm crushed that I would be deleted. My edits came about because the original was sloppy, and I could not get information. It kills me when wiki sites are not "clean" and updated. Anyway, can you help? Bradrhoads (talk) 01:03, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

  • "Sun Capital is an experienced private equity firm driven by operational expertise....It partners with small and medium-sized enterprise founders and management teams to provide the resources and support needed to optimize operations for enhanced efficiency and sustainable growth....By supporting innovative non-profit organizations, the Foundation aims to fulfill its mission of promoting sustainable, positive change" followed by a list of inline URLs to the company web pages. Bradrhoads, you really need to come clean about that COI in regards to Marc Leder. Drmies (talk) 01:07, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Wow. This is profoundly disheartening. Is this normal? Guys - I'm BRAND NEW. I read through the material offered up and I tried to help. I came to the Leder page because I'm a fan of the Washington Commanders, who was acquired by a group including Leder, and it was just a hit job, top to bottom, talking about sex parties, mistresses, details of his divorce - read it if it still exists. I feel like my edits neutralized it and corrected and obvious attack on the page. But now I'M being called out? @Drmies I think your tone is personal. This is just someone bigfooting who gets to play in the sandbox. Can anyone at all help me? Please read the orignal and my edits, and tell me which is better, and mentor me on how to fix it. Bradrhoads (talk) 01:45, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

Contentious topic/question

Hello Dreamy Jazz,

You created the page Wikipedia:Contentious_topics/India,_Pakistan,_and_Afghanistan and I thought I could ask you to clarify something. What is the scope of this topic: every topic related to any of the 3 countries (be it about food, entertainment and so on) or just the topics relating to the relations between them ("+/and" being a key component of the definition of the topic)? Asking this because I don't agree with the the interpretation of the page made by User:Saqib here. Thank you in advance. If you think I should ask elsewhere, please let me know. Best, -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 17:41, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

The interpretation by Saqib is correct. It applies to any page related to any of these countries whether or not the topic is related to more than one of these countries. For example, Talk:India and Talk:20 October 2017 Afghanistan attacks are tagged as being covered by this contentious topic designation, but are only related to one of the countries. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:52, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
Not related to India/Pakistan but Hummus is protected is due to Israel/Palestine for example. S0091 (talk) 17:57, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
Thanks both! I stand corrected. My apologies for the trouble. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 18:18, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
In my opinion your concern/question is a valid one. Had it not been for Hummus being on my watchlist because of vandalism along with other experience I have gained either directly or reading discussions, I would have thought like you. S0091 (talk) 18:38, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Always indefinite editnotices?

Hi Dreamy Jazz. What did you mean to fix in in this edit? Its effect is that contentious topic editnotices cannot be set to expire. See, for example, Template:Editnotices/Page/List of ongoing armed conflicts. Is this something that should be undone/modified? SilverLocust 💬 07:14, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

In this case, the Template:Contentious topics/Arab-Israeli editnotice did not accept {{{expiry}}}. I've fixed that as well as the base template. That should have fixed this. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:21, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

IP block evading

Hi Dreamy, you recently blocked NoteBooks77D and Delta65Boy as part of WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Aamilkeeyankhan. There's an IP editor, 103.195.251.138, whose edit history is so obviously related to these that I'm sure it's them editing logged-out. Would you be okay to block them? Or if you think I ought to reopen that SPI and add this there, let me know. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:11, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

@DoubleGrazing, I would file a new SPI report as the current one is closed and I will avoid blocking IPs in a case that I've run CU on (to avoid the appearance that I've blocked the IP based on CU evidence, even if this was not the case). Editnotices for Template:Contentious topics/*

Hello, Dreamy Jazz. Thank you for creating Template:Editnotices/Group/Template:Contentious topics. The individual page edit notice Template:Editnotices/Page/Template:Contentious topics/talk notice has the same content, and it causes duplicate banner to appear when editing Template:Contentious topics/talk notice. On the other hand, Template:Editnotices/Page/Template:Contentious topics/alert, as an example, has completely different content to the group notice.

Do you think the individual page edit notices, which just duplicate the group notice, should be deleted? —andrybak (talk) 14:24, 4 August 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sepaher zandi‎‎

While the Master is old, there are prior socks to CU against, as well as to the two current ones. Wouldn't it be helpful to CU the group of recent socks so that tagging as CU confirmed can be done? - UtherSRG (talk) 13:29, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

@UtherSRG, hi. I did run a check on both, but there was no CU data that linked them together (nor did it appear that any other accounts were using the IPs that they were using). As such, CU data for these accounts isn't helpful in determining whether the accounts are socks. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 21:28, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

Imzadi1979 a sock?

Hi Dreamy Jazz! I was surprised to see that Imzadi1979 was blocked as a sock, looking at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/That guy who plays games I'm not entirely sure how that conclusion is drawn so just thought I should pop in for a bit of clarification. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 16:56, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for raising this. Obviously in error. I've unblocked. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:00, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
The reason this happened is that the user was mentioned in the reasoning for the report using the {{noping}} template and so appears as a user in the list of users to block. I've left an apology on the user talk page of Imzadi1979. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:05, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
That was my first guess as to what had happened, the second guess was some sort of privately submitted evidence unreferenced to avoid outing but that seemed unlikely in context. Thank you for clearing it up! All the best Horse Eye's Back (talk) 18:26, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
According to the unblock log, you said "the SPI helper tool pre-selected users for a block"...
