Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MRX G.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:MRX G.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 13:06, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

What the robot is trying to say (as near as I can figure)
editI think the problems this robot is talking about have to do with missing info boxes on the Image:Pris.JPG and Image:MRX G.jpg pages.
Image:MRX G.jpg needs one of these:
{{Non-free image data |Description = Panel depicting {}. |Source = {} |Portion = Single panel only. |Low_resolution = Sufficient resolution for illustration, but considerably lower resolution than original. |other_information = Intellectual property owned by {{#if:{}|{}|{}}}. }}
Copy and paste the following into the image article, with info on where this image was originally published substituted in where it says {} and Mr.X's intellectual property owner (is that still Vortex, or did it revert? If Vortex is official owner, put Vortex even if there is some understanding that Dean Motter is allowed to use the character as he sees fit) instead of {{#if:{}|{}|{}}} :
{{Non-free image data |Description = Panel depicting Mister X (Vortex). |Source = {} |Portion = Single panel only. |Low_resolution = Sufficient resolution for illustration, but considerably lower resolution than original. |other_information = Intellectual property owned by {{#if:{}|{}|{}}}. }}
and both Image:Pris.JPG and Image:MRX G.jpg need one of these: {{Non-free image rationale |Article = {} |Purpose = Used for purposes of illustration in an educational article about the entity represented by the image.<br>The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of this article topic. |Replaceability = Protected by copyright, therefore a free use alternative won't exist. }}
Copy and paste the following into each image article, replacing {} with and as appropriate:
{{Non-free image rationale |Article = {} |Purpose = Used for purposes of illustration in an educational article about the entity represented by the image.<br>The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of this article topic. |Replaceability = Protected by copyright, therefore a free use alternative won't exist. }}
I think the rationale box for the Prisoner image is also supposed to identify the intellectual property owner of the TV show, too, and maybe also DC Comics, I'm not sure; usually the licensor owns the licenced comic book, but there have been exceptions and partial exceptions over the years. You may know better than I do about this.
Anyway, if you're still out there and interested in contributing, I hope this helps.

editWelcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Mister X (Vortex), you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. If you are, in fact, Dean Motter, it is inappropriate for you to edit articles about yourself, your creations, or subjects connected to yourself. It would be better to start a talk page discussion as to the changes you would like to see made and leave it to other editors to make said changes. This avoids the obvious conflict-of-interest. File permission problem with File:MrX B.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:MrX B.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as non-free fair use or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) 13:01, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
