15 April
Hi! I noticed that you accepted an edit to 15 April however days of the year pages now require citations as per WP:DOYCITE so I've reverted it. The guidelines were changed due to the high number of errors and the number of links to articles with no or little reliable sources. Any names or events added before these guidelines were implemented are currently in the process of being referenced or removed. If you'd like to find it more, please see WP:DAYS. Thanks, Suonii180 (talk) 14:48, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, @Suonii180 I was not aware of that. I will keep an eye on it in the future. Greetings from Drummingman Talk 14:59, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Your talk archiving
Hi, I'm IAmChaos, and I just edited the archiving template on your userpage. The maxarchsize
paramater was duplicated, throwing an error. It was the same value in both, so I just removed one duplicate. I wanted to jump in and let you know I made that change anyway, so you don't think random people are messing with your talk page. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 03:25, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Cheers. Lotje (talk) 11:42, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Beste @Lotje. Is mijn UP zo beter? Met vriendelijke groeten van Drummingman (talk) 11:53, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- I see :-) en ja hoor, nu staan je boxen er weer helemaal netjes bij. Lotje (talk) 11:55, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Translation to English, so that anyone can understand it:
Hi Drummingman, just noticed that the babel boxes on your UP are not really centered nicely above the other boxes. You might want to adjust it and by the way, what was wrong with your signature that you were requested to adjust it? Pros. Lotje (talk) 11:42, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Dear @Lotje. If I understood correctly, it has to do with the policy on enwiki. Vandalism susceptibility etc. See also the links above to WP:SIGNT. I have modified that and am using the Standard signature again on this wiki. Is my UP better this way? Best regards from Drummingman (talk) 11:53, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Hi. You may not be familiar with this person, but it's a long-term vandal. There's no point in reverting since that just means more cleanup. Report immediately; we'll clean up afterwards. The IPs typically come from Kentucky or Ohio; it usually involves well-known Americans, and contains the BS that you saw. Oh, and a Level 1 warning for that kind of shit is giving a vandal too much credit. For that kind of material, start at 3, or report immediately. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 16:16, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Dear, @Drmies, in retrospect you are absolutely right, this is indeed serious vandalism, with level 1 being far too weak. However, this was posted automatically because I was using SWViewer, I will use standard rollback more often for this kind of abuse, and issue warnings via Twinkle. Then I can immediately give warning level 4im, which would have been more appropriate here. Kind regards, Drummingman (talk) 16:37, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, you are using a tool I am not familiar with. When the levels were redone, a couple years ago, editors like me and Mandarax did not like the phrasing at all for level 1 and maybe level 2--they were way too weak. For vandalism, I usually start with level 2. For this--well, even if this weren't an LTA, an immediate block is called for. But yeah, your judgment is actually appreciated: see what you think, and warn accordingly. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 22:40, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Well, for me, the problem wasn't that the new warnings were too weak. It was mostly the moronic "Hello, I'm Mandarax". I still use customized level 1 warnings for minor infractions by users without previous warnings, but if it's clearly intentional vandalism, I usually jump to a higher level, and if they've already got lots of warnings, I never start over with a level 1. When I do issue a level 1, I don't use the new, standard warnings; I use the pre-moronified versions preserved at User:Double sharp/uw/. Fortunately, Twinkle makes it easy to issue custom warnings. MANdARAX XAЯAbИAM 01:02, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Dear, @Drmies and @Mandarax, thanks for the information. Kind regards, Drummingman (talk) 12:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Incidentally, editing a name as you did here does not generate a ping. To do so, you would have to create a new comment with a mention of the user, and include a new signature. For more info, see WP:MENTION. What I recommend in such a case is that you edit the text just as you did here, so it displays as desired (but doesn't ping), plus link to the user in your edit summary, which will generate a ping. Nederlandstalige
Thanks for this edit at Template:Welcome-foreign/Dutch. It's a subtle but accurate point. The German and Swedish ones already do it that way, and the snippets in many other languages express it differently, such as "Wikipedia en español", "Wikipédia en français". I wonder if "Wikipedia in het Nederlands" would've been better, or is Nederlandstalige more colloquial? The irony of the situation, is that I don't even know why we bother with Dutch in this template: in my year of living in Holland, I met only two people who couldn't speak English (even the drunks and panhandlers were bi- or trilingual), and I think it would be extremely difficult to find a native Dutch speaking Wikipedia editor whose English was so poor that this template would be appropriate. The only scenario I can imagine, is an immigrant who learned Dutch but not English (I did meet a handful of those), but then, we could just use the correct language in those cases. Anyway, thanks for the fix to the template. Mvg, Mathglot (talk) 22:03, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- Dear, @Mathglot, thank you,
:)
. By the way; the Dutch wiki also calls itself the Nederlandstalige Wikipedia. That was the reason I change it. It is after all not only for the Dutch and Belgians, but for Dutch-speaking worldwide. Subtle but important difference. Best regards from, Drummingman (talk) 22:21, 16 July 2022 (UTC)- Agreed. So, Ron Bushy, Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Art Blakey, or Karen Carpenter? Hello!
Hi Drummingman! I'm sorry if that edit summary I put when I reverted your edit sounded snarky, I didn't intend it that way. I almost reverted the same edit before I saw that misleading username. I reported that person to UAA, it looks pretty obviously misleading. Just wanted to let you know, thanks! SPF121188 (talk this way) (contribs) 15:42, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- Indeed, dear @Spf121188, I also thought it was ClueBot therefore the errors I guess, but thanks for the recovery. Drummingman (talk) 15:48, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
Why rolling back my edit on "Double dispatch"
Hi Drummingman, I see that you reverted my edit within one minute and the reason you gave was "unexplained content removal". However, I clearly gave my explanation in the [edit summary](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Double_dispatch&diff=1103211310&oldid=1103211200):
Remove the "Double Dispatch in Effiel" section because Effiel is not a widely used language, and therefore it does not serve as an good example of double dispatch but takes up ~50% of the content of this page
Can you pleaes explain why you rolled back my edit? 2601:647:4600:C170:C09B:48BF:83B1:F1FC (talk) 20:41, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- Dear anonymous, I think you are right. After all, but given how much you have removed, it would be helpful to get consensus on the article's talk page. Yours sincerely, Drummingman (talk) 20:50, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

- Following an RfC, consensus was found that if the rationale for a block depends on information that is not available to all administrators, that information should be sent to the Arbitration Committee, a checkuser or an oversighter for action (as applicable, per ArbCom's recent updated guidance) instead of the administrator making the block.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
