Mary Datchelor School

Hi Dsp13, I've added an infobox and done some cleanup etc. for Mary Datchelor School. I just have a question regarding the founding year, the article says it opened in 1877 however the image of the sign at the front of the building says "founded 1726" — is this right or is the image wrong? Steven (Editor) (talk) 22:40, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

Yes, thanks very much for your cleanup! I think the image is wrong, or misleading. From what I can see, Mary Datchelor died in 1726 and a charitable bequest, with some ongoing management, dates from then. However, money from that bequest was only used for a girls school in the 1870s. (See e.g. the couple of relevant sentences in the County History here.Dsp13 (talk) 10:08, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
