January 2020
editHello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Eurovision Song Contest 1957: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. I don’t like templating the regulars, so I apologise. ~ Chip🐺 09:50, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- @ChipWolf: Thank you, I'll be sure to use them in future. dummelaksen (talk) 10:00, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi! Please don't do this. It was done for a reason. Your version, with 100 references in a row, looked terrible. --Moscow Connection (talk) 07:24, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Moscow Connection: In that case, is it really necessary to have dozens of references for one piece of information? dummelaksen (talk) 17:36, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- In the first case, some sources mention the first song (some mention only its title and some simply say it was a song by Stromae), some the second one (some mention the title and some just say it was her audition song), some say she won. In the second case, some sources say it was their first concert, some say it was their only concert, some say when it was recorded, some say it was recorded at Zénith d'Aix, some say at Arena d'Aix-en-Provence, same say at Zénith d'Aix-en-Provence, and some say when it was / to be broadcast. Yes, some sources can be removed, but who cares? It is not forbidden to do it this way. --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:04, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Category:Countries in the ABU Song Contest 2020 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Withdrawn/cancelled
editHey, I appreciate you updating the pages, but would you consider having a discussion about widespread changes before you make them? I find that you typically decide to change something then immediately update every page without giving anyone a chance for feedback. Then when an issue arises, it's a real pain to have to correct it. The project talk page would be a great place to start a discussion about changing page formatting, colors, headings, etc. Grk1011 (talk) 14:48, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Grk1011: My apologies. That's something I've been guilty of in the past, and I'll be sure to bring these things up on the talk page first in future. dummelaksen (talk) 16:08, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
Table formatting
editRegarding this diff I'm not tied to any particular formatting code, but we need to make the years not bold and I could only figure that out by copying Romania's code. Grk1011 (talk) 16:54, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Grk1011: No worries, I wasn't sure on what the consensus was. I was just changing the existing code, which had the years in bold, to make it simpler without actually changing the format. dummelaksen (talk) 16:56, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

I hereby award Dummelaksen the Tireless Contributor Barnstar for his efforts to improve page consistency within Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision! It is not easy (or fun) to make formatting changes on dozens of articles, but someone has got to get the work done. It is much appreciated! Grk1011 (talk) 16:26, 15 April 2020 (UTC) |

Italy in Eurovision Song Contest
editHi, Italy didn't have to go through semi-final Kvalifikacija za MIllstreet which can be verified on that wiki-page.
- @Ingvar 30: The page doesn't claim that Italy participated in Kvalifikacija za Millstreet – it is listed there because KzM was used as the effective semi-final of 1993, regardless of whether Italy participated in KzM. If the original format of the information was confusing, I'm more than happy to discuss better ways of conveying it on the WikiProject Eurovision talk page. But removing it and replacing it with a "no semi-finals" cell isn't right because there was a semi-final in 1993. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 19:04, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- @dummelaksen: I agree with you that there was a semi-final in 1993, but it was done only for ex-communist countries which were either a part of Yugoslavia or Soviet Union and which wanted to participate in Eurovision.Italy didn't have to qualify to ESC at all.
- @Ingvar 30: I know. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 19:16, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
August 2020
editPlease check the JUNIOR EUROVVISION 2020 IN WIKIPEDIA AND CHECK IF THE INFORMATION ABOUT ALBANIA IS TRUE
Icelandic minotaur (talk) 20:51, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Icelandic minotaur: I have removed the information about Albania as it was unsourced and mostly irrelevant, but why is this my responsibility? I didn't add the information. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 21:28, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
Eurovision 2021 moldova
editHi there, The page of Eurovision 2021 has moldova in it well, on Eurovision.tv is not announced that moldova is bringing Natalia back in eurovision so I'm asking you that you can change that — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.37.13.35 (talk) 14:27, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- eurovision.tv is not the only reliable source for Eurovision news, and it may not be complete or updated regularly. If Natalia Gordienko's participation is given in other reliable sources then it's OK to include in the article. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 14:29, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Belarusian flag in Junior Eurovision Song Contest pages
editHi Dummelaksen,
You reverted my change on Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 regarding the Belarusian hyperlink / flag. I was not aware that the 1995 there was meant to include that specific version of the Belarusian flag, so that's on me. However, my comment when changing it was "fixed hyperlink". The hyperlink before my edit referred to the Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest page, rather than the Belarus in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 page. This is caused by the 1995 being included in the command. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 page circumvents this problem – and I have adjusted the 2005 page (and some other pages where the same problem persists) too. This is just a head's up that the previous way of formatting, so before my change, makes the hyperlink link to the wrong page.
Kind regards, JKOkay (talk) 17:38, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
- @JKOkay: thank you for fixing the link, I wasn't aware about the link going to the wrong page. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 17:41, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
Please warn vandals
editHi.
Thanks for recently undoing vandalism on Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. In the future, when you undo vandalism, could you please use the appropriate template to warn the user (IP or registered) to stop their behaviour?
There are many different warning templates available to use. Here are some popular ones. Please see their documentation pages for instructions.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism1}} - For the first case of vandalism.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism2}} - For the second case.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism3}} - Third.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism4}} - Fourth or final warning.
- {{subst:Uw-vandalism4im}} - Last or only warning for severe situations.
Each time we use these warnings they should be placed under the title "==November 2024==" (updated to the current month and year), on the user's talk page. If previous warnings have been given under that title, add the next level warning beneath the others, within that section. Clearly, individual cases must be dealt with as seems fit. If the user has not been actively vandalizing for a few weeks or months, start a new section.
The value of warning is three fold.
- Firstly: it may be heeded.
- Secondly: it allows other editors to quickly see if that user has been vandalizing frequently or recently.
- Lastly: administrators require that warnings have been given before they can or will act against persistent vandals.
If a vandal is on a spree or has reached a level 4 vandalism warning and is currently active, waste no time in reporting them to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism.
Thanks again for helping to protect articles on Wikipedia. Happy editing! JochemvanHees (talk) 19:36, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
- @JochemvanHees: thanks for the reminder. I do use them frequently, but it seems like the vandalism has got more frequent recently so I just sort of stopped bothering for a while. I'll make sure I use them more consistently. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 22:47, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
Links in Eurovision tables
editHello!
I'm about this revision https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Belarus_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest&diff=975694125&oldid=975675730
Actually I agree. But for those who view only commentators column this link is invisible (I think that I'm not the only one).
So I think that extra link in this column will not be false. 109.252.68.89 (talk) 21:55, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
- That's a fair point. In that case, it might be a better idea to have one link per column, instead of one link per table. I think you should ask on the WikiProject Eurovision talk page since this affects lots of articles, and other editors might have different opinions. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 22:00, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
Serbo - Croatian language
editDo not exist
- @Agent: It does exist (see Serbo-Croatian). Please also see this discussion which is why the songs are referred to as being in Serbo-Croatian. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 20:59, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Yugoslavia on Eurovsion
editSerbian entry - 1961, 1962, 1974, 1982, 1991, 1992 Croatian entry - 1963, 1965, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 Bosnian entry - 1964, 1973, 1976, 1981 Slovenian entry - 1966, 1967, 1970, 1975 Montenegro entry: 1984 Macedonian entry: 0 Kosovo entry: 0 Vojvodina entry: 0
I am fan of Eurovision from Croatia
Eurovision 1989
editCroatian song won Eurovison 1989. That is reason why host city of Eurovision 1990 was Zagreb (Croatia), and not Beograd (Serbia)
- @Agent: I ask you again, please read the discussion. The constituent republic of Yugoslavia that the song came from is irrelevant. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 21:18, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
UK Language in Eurovision 2021
editI just thought that because the Uk had sent songs in English only it would be the exact same for next year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eurovision1323 (talk • contribs) 18:16, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Eurovision1323: Thank you for your contributions, but it's not certain that would be the case – there is a first time for everything, and the UK might not send a song in English next year. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 18:22, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
Georgia's JESC2020 song
editHi Dummelaksen! As you obviously know, Georgia will release their song on November 13th, when Ranina concludes. However, I already found Georgia's entry on Shazam (see: https://www.shazam.com/track/544286336/you-are-not-alone-junior-eurovision-2020-georgia). This is based on the JESC2020 album that's already up in Shazams database. However, I was wondering if this is a 'legit' enough source to change Georgia's "TBA 13 November" on the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 page, or if it's still 'unconfirmed' and it's better to leave the TBA? I'm asking you in advance before putting it up because I don't want to cause an unnecessary discussion, of course! Kind regards, JKOkay (talk) 10:15, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- @JKOkay: thanks for finding the source! I see JochemvanHees has added Georgia's entry using this source so if anyone else objects to this they will probably remove it or bring it up on the talk page themself. Also, don't worry about starting a discussion about something like this, everything is worth talking about if it could improve an article. dummelaksen (talk • contribs) 17:57, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- Alright, that's clear for me in the future then! I see other fansites have already adopted the Shazam source too. JKOkay (talk) 19:15, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
