Speedy deletion nomination of Defence Blog
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Defence Blog, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://defence-blog.com/about-us. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. editPlease stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to remove speedy deletion notices from pages you created yourself, as you did at Defence Blog, you may be blocked from editing. Your position within the blog is irrelevant - do not remove tags from articles you have created. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 13:58, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

editContested deletion
This page should not be speedily deleted because this is a brief summary of the draft military news site, written by the editor-in-chief of the portal itself. --Dylan Malyasov (talk) 13:53, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Which means you have a conflict of interest. But can I propose that this page instead of deleted is moved to a draft? @Chrissymad: how do I propose that? Or have I already done that by stating it here? Alexis Jazz (talk) 15:13, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Moving it to draft still doesn't address the copyright violation, promotional material, lack of notability and conflict of itnerest. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 15:22, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Chrissymad: Right, things here seem to have been copied from http://defence-blog.com/about-us. Promotional tone could be reduced, conflict of interest doesn't have to be an issue (but does require monitoring) and as for notability: if the claims made are true (and sourceable) this would certainly seem like a notable website.
- @Dylan Malyasov: if the claims (being cited by CNN, BBC, etc) are true and you can give sources for that I suggest you create Draft:Defence blog. Don't copy text from the blog and don't write it like promotional material. Alexis Jazz (talk) 15:38, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Alexis Jazz Someone as involved as this user should definitely not be writing about this and should be requesting it's creation, not writing it themselves. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 15:41, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- If they can provide a draft that passes NPOV I really don't see the problem. I agree however they should not write the article directly, instead create it first on a user page (like User:Dylan Malyasov/Defence blog) or as a draft. (or request it, also possible)
- Dylan: if you write something neutral with proper sources on why it's notable etc. I'll be happy to comment on it. Just ping me using {{ping|Alexis Jazz}} when you're done. Alexis Jazz (talk) 15:49, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Defence Blog
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Defence Blog requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Pi (Talk to me!) 19:59, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
I very strongly urge you to take notice of the advice offered above. If you don't, then not only is anything you post here likely to be deleted, but you are also likely to be blocked from editing, so your best chance of achieving anything is to take the advice of experienced editors who know what is likely to work and what isn't. Editing with a possible conflict of interest
editHello, Dylan Malyasov. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.--SamHolt6 (talk) 15:59, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
