Socks and banned User

Good morning,

I have some socks and banned-User here around you have to care of. Please have a look on PakistaniNisar, KoonWoz, Bootcamps, 142.204.235.180, 99.245.115.47, 67.208.6.95 and Alexanderofaryana. They are all vandalizing on nearly every article and paste POVs, but not only that. Penn/Hughes image

Hey, I saw you changing the image on B.J. Penn (good find btw) and was thinking that the outcropped version of the old one would be a good addition to a few articles (mainly Hughes' and Penn's, but also maybe a weight in section of mixed martial arts or something similar). Thing is, the original image's link gives the HTML of a 404-page so I was wondering if you perhaps had it saved somewhere, or knew where to find it? Deleted Images

You deleted images that I created and uploaded (on the behalf of the Wellcom consortium): Image:WellCom Architecture.jpg and "Image:WellCom Partners.jpg. Please restore these two images. The image was deleted because another user uploaded a superior version at Image:Compass Bus logo.png; since the copy you uploaded was unused, it was deleted (unfree images that are not being utilized in articles are removed for legal reasons). That's what Vintagekits is claiming, and now, since his account has been unblocked, he goes full steam ahead... puts the canadian flag for Lennox Lewis on the list of IBO world champions (Lennox was born in England), and also on the Ring's Top 10 pound-for-pound list... I'm soon going to throw everything away from me... I think I do a good job on the lists, and then, such a person drives you crazy... Didn't Lewis only reside in Canada during his late childhood and amateur career? Despite whatever failings VK might have, it's not appropriate to refer to him as "a plague." I know first-hand that he's a very conscientious editor who's really improved the project's coverage of boxing, especially Olympic boxing. Claude, please try to tone down the personal commentary and start a discussion somewhere. This isnt the first time this editor has thrown around personal abise at me - and thank you for highlighting here. Lennox was born in London to Jamacian immigrants who again emmigrated to Canada when Lennox was a child and he grew up there and went to school, he learned to box there and he represented Canada at the Olympics and won a medal for them - the whole British thing was a marketing stunt and Lewis never even held a passport or lived in Britain. All the same, I don't want to take any chances. And I don't think Wikipedia should either. I can handle sarcasm quite well, but there is something more there this time. I am perceiving this as a very real threat. SA has made personal attack after personal attack on me and countless others and has been warned endlessly. This is more that a personal attack. If the admission was on an external site, how do you know it was really this user, for example? What site was it? Details like that matter. Using an automated tool to drop {{uw-npa4im}} directly after a more measured comment from FT2 seems pretty patronizing to me. I just call them like I see them. neuro, I'm sorry if you felt my comments towards you were harsh; they were not a critique of you or your editing, but the generic template which was inappropriate in this situation. Just remember that leaving impersonal commentary through templates has traditionally been frowned upon by the community. There are a lot of things that need hashing out. MOS:FLAG is unclear, our tables of fighter records seem to run afoul of the "Wikipedia is not a directory" sentiment which has historically been supported by the community, and our notability guidelines for athletes are very lax when applied to combat sports. It wasnt me who uploaded the images initially, I just remembered there was one on the page that was no longer there, so I figured it was easier to get this reinstaed and put in the rationale myself, as the original uploaders of these images didnt do so when the were given the warnings. Preliminary Step to Article for Deletion

When I discovered my biography April 19 after it was online for over two years, I started developing it as an autobiography. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ray_Joseph_Cormier&oldid=220975243

All of this was done under the radar, until I realized myself, how I was writing it was not appropriate, so I reached out to more experienced Administrators for help to make it conform to Wikipedia requirements for a BLP.

A small group of Editors decimated it to just a shell of what it was, and while I was disappointed, I accept and understand why it had to be done. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Joseph_Cormier

Yesterday, one of those Editors placed a new tag on the article which I view as the preliminary step to deleting the article, notwithstanding the many valid references which have not been reflected in the biography and can be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2003596&l=16beb&id=1294974109

Hi, Ray. The general notability guideline says that an article's subject merits inclusion if it's received "significant coverage" in third-party sources. There's no question that you've received voluminous coverage, but I am not so sure about significant - are any of the news stories about you a biography-type piece? • by the Dictionary definition of ¨significant¨ it would meet the criteria for inclusion, but it´s my biography and no matter what I think, it would be interpreted as a COI. Perhaps you will read my reply to the Editor who placed the tag here User_talk:Kingturtle and offer an opinion. Newspaper reports are one thing, reporting on unusual events, and feature stories are in a different category. The FOCUS Magazine article in the Facebook link above goes one further. • East, you know more about me than any other Editor or viewer on this site. In my estimation, I think you are the prime example of a fair minded Editor-Administrator of this site.

If you go through every biography on Wikipedia I don´t think anyone else will have accumulated so many independent from the subject, reliable sources over a period of many years in many different newspapers in many different cities where the Editors choose the header ´Prophet´ to describe anyone. I did not choose those headers. Is that stand alone significance, irrespective of whether any POV is secular, atheist, agnostic or whatever?

I have expressed to you and many others in discussions here I consider the inclusion of the Declaration on Remembrance Day 1985 to be very significant for inclusion in my biography as in the old version:

On Remembrance Day 1985, in the presence of the Governor-General of Canada, Government Leaders, the Military, Ambassadors of the Nations and 25,000 people he publicly declared,

"Hear O people and Nations, even to the ends of the Earth, the Word of the Lord God who is, and was, and is to come, The Almighty. The Lord has a controversy with the people. Do you do well to honour the dead, and yet, deny the God of the Living? Why do you follow the vain traditions of men, and make of no effect, the principles of God? You come here for one hour one day a year in a great show of public patriotism, and then forgetting, go back to work and make the same careless mistakes made by the generations prior to the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Hitler was killed, but it's his legacy that remains. A Soviet-American military-industrial complex consuming $trillions of dollars every year, holding the entire World hostage............"

"Hostage" was the last word he said perched on a bus shelter roof, as police got up and grabbed his megaphone. He was arrested for shouting, causing a disturbance, convicted and fined $250. He appealed without a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Canada. [16] [17] [18]

It seems to me an encyclopedia exists to inform, and this just doesn´t do it as it is current in my biography:

In 1985, in the presence of government leaders and a large crowd commemorating Remembrance Day, Cormier climbed onto a bus shelter and shouted a religiously-themed anti-war speech through a megaphone until he was arrested and fined $250 for causing a disturbance. He appealed without a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Canada, but the Court would not hear the case.[9] [10] [11]

I understand the requirement for independent, reliable sources. I e-mailed you the Government of Canada Department of Justice legal brief, as they opposed my appeal of the conviction for the action to the Supreme Court of Canada. The Government of Canada confirms the exact words and environment as I wrote them in the old version. I do not understand how this site will not recognize an Official Document of the Government of Canada as being reliable and obviously, unquestionably, independent of the subject? Those words are not under any copyright. What could move an individual to stand up and make such a Declaration on Remembrance Day? Perhaps the site should modify the rules.

Humanly speaking, I had a hard sell on this site and I´ve been disappointed many times in the discussions. Humanly speaking, I´m disappointed not one religious leader or organization will acknowledge my letters with the link to the old version. Pat Robertson, Jeremiah Wright, all the TV Evangelists, the Oldsteens. I can understand lack of response on this predominately secular site. Actually I´m surprised the religious have no questions. I read over all the articles you've emailed me so far and think that there's a few that establish that an article on you can be reconciled with the inclusion guidlines: the Guardian article from 8/20/1986, the undated Herald article, the Weekend article from 8/30/1986, and the Kansas City Times (which was a major newspaper during its life). Local news such as Focus and the Citizen probably doesn't have enough prominence though. The info that RedPenOfDoom removed can't really stand; most of it is not cited, and our standards for sourcing are especially stringent on articles for living persons. I think your article could use some help, mainly folding the "arrests" section into the main narrative, perhaps into "politics" if you were the victim of political persecution. I didn´t realize Wikipedia has an hierarchical system for the value of different City Daily Newspapers. A reliable, independent source should be just that. Reference # 16, MacLean´s Magazine is Canada´a National Magazine. Armageddon is mentioned in that report before CNN and other mainline News media were using it along with doomsday and the abyss to describe the current financial meltdown which I discussed July 3rd in the talk of Ground Zero by the writing: The global system is just entering the time when this line from Rev.18 will be seen and believed: And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buys their merchandise any more.

That is a chronological fact. It is also a chronological fact that six weeks later, the global system just began to see it.

The Information RedPenOfDoom removed was my attempt to correct a simple typo error in the old version in the history. In the section Power, Politics, Religion: Late at night on August 23rd 1978, he happened to be near the Langevin Block as Pierre Trudeau's limousine and RCMP Security detail pulled up. As Trudeau got out of the car, Cormier said, "Peter, feed the sheep." Passing by, he shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Alright! Alright! I'll feed the sheep" and rushed up the stairs to his Office. Three days later Pope Paul VI, successor to the Apostle Peter, to whom Jesus first spoke those words in John 21:15 [5], died. The actual date was August 3, not 23 as typed.I also sent you the Official RCMP reports that documents and confirms the essence of what I wrote concerning these incidents.

Reference #24, ´Prophet chooses Park for Vigil' is dated September 13, 1976 and from my POV is an historical record and sign of things to come. You may recognize these thoughts from the Writing on the Wall from Daniel V in the captivity of Babylon. The statement combines the first two parts of the writing in one sentence. The third part says, ¨Your Kingdom is divided, and delivered into the hands of the Medes and Persians.¨ Babylon is the ancient name for the land of Iraq and Persia is the ancient name for the land of Iran.

This was two years before the Americans were held hostage in the hands of the Iranians. Who could have seen 32 years ago the United States, Iraq and Iran would become so entwined, repeating that 3600 year old Biblical Babylonian history? This can only be recognized with the benefit of hindsight. Either that is a lot of random co-incidence or part of a longer term Divine Plan. Subsequent events will reveal that. There is much more sign and wonder in Ref: 24. If the 1st part described above does not fit in, it´s pointless at this time to expand on the rest.

At this point I don´t know if or how any of that could be incorporated into the article. It will take an Editor more clever and experienced than I to find the way. The article is relatively new and raw and the guidelines say that is acceptable for a time. The only consensus I can reach with you and others is that the Article as it is needs to be improved.

To be personal and honest, until I discovered my Biography April 19, I was in a deep rut. I was in a long period like Jonah in the Whale, trying to escape from doing what I had to do. Wikipedia has re-activated me, and that is good.

From the significant response to my writing and Wikipedia links mentioned above, just be patient. The references clearly show a record of going Public and withdrawing for a period of time over the last 32 years. This is just the last phase. Be assured there will be many more independent and reliable sources that meet Wikipedia´s requirements. Many thanks for your help.

Advice needed

Hi East718, I was wondering if you could help me with something? I notice that you often delete talkpages of indef-blocked users. Do you have any tips on how to find the "old" pages? I took a look at Category:Temporary Wikipedian userpages, but most of the ones that I spot-checked seemed to be recently blocked. How do you find the delete-able ones? The CAT:TEMP deletions are actually done by a robot... manually going through each page and seeing if it's old enough would be pretty detrimental for my mental health after some time. :-) If you want, I can list all the old pages that aren't being deleted by me somewhere; they'll need human review sometime anyway (or, source code for the bot, if that's your cup of tea). east718 // talk // email // 00:13, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

One, it leaves two identical fair use images. Second, it makes the source incorrect, as the source is a GIF image and the one on-wiki is now a PNG (with the original deleted). I'm not sure doing that is a good thing... Calvin 1998 ^(t·c) 01:01, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

The old GIFs get deleted by me as part of my regular orphaned image sweeps, so that's not really worth worrying about. As for the source, that's required to show where the material hosted by us comes from, not the manner in which it's presented. It's like this

I saw a map image on the New Zealand article which had only partially named an island. So I grabbed the image, photoshopped in the full name, and uploaded it back to wiki. I obviously couldn't claim the work as my own, because it isn't. Instead, I stated something like I was simply amending an existing image. One of the bullshit bots reckoned that's not good enough, but of course didn't say how to fix the problem, or fix it itself. So now it's been axed from wikipedia, and also from the New Zealand article by you. Still, there might be someone out there who says it is an improvement. CSD I1: Redundant to another image

Hi, you deleted two images I had on my watchlist as "redundant to another image." They were File:Lehigh COE Logo.png and File:Lehigh COE Logo.jpg. File:Lehigh COE Logo.png is currently included in Lehigh University. At the moment you deleted the file, it was not linked because a vandal had wiped the page out. If you would restore this file, everything should be back to normal. –Sarregouset (talk) 17:28, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Bot Programming

Hello,

I saw that you added a .png for the File:WestLibertyFoods Logo.gif‎ image I uploaded to Wikipedia and switched the article that used the gif to the png. I wanted to suggest that if this is something your bot does regularly, you might want to add a feature that puts the now unusued gif images on track to be deleted. Good day Jimbo. That ip seems to be very likely a zombie proxy or in other words it's a compromised host. A port scan will give you more info, in that case one can use Nmap which will mostly give you more info. However it isn't really easy to find compromised hosts. One has to know quite a lot about this subject before trying, otherwise it might be too difficult. As a last note this might be helpful. Hope you don't mind if I replied, East. Hi, Jimbo. I used nmap to find the proxies... one worrying thing though is that I just rechecked it, and my current results don't match my old ones (but they do match Alison's). I'm now of the opinion that the person behind this address is going to great lengths to make it seem like it's either not a proxy or an infected computer through no fault of their own. The image marked as being from a "TV thumbnail" probably isn't free, which forbids any modifications to it. This means you won't be able to use the image in a collage like this, as it constitutes an alteration of the work. Since the Baldwin brothers are all alive, you'll be able to use only free images to illustrate them, so I'm sorry - the collage has to go. — east718 | talk | 12:23, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

  All of what you've described is certainly legal under US copyright law, but our guidelines on the usage of non-free content are intentionally more restrictive in order to further our mission of fostering free content. Sorry if this seems a bit nebulous, but the bottom line is that the usage of non-free images is tightly controlled, and collage use has traditionally been excluded from the permitted exceptions. — east718 | talk | 18:19, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

An image question

I was wondering if this might have come up before. Back in October, you deleted the placeholder image for the FA-quality 300 article. I understand that [someone else had replaced it with an image that turns out to be less than ideal.
I've since put the correct image back in, and added all the appropriate rationale, summary and licensing. If you could take a gander at it and make sure it is okay, I'd very much appreciate it.
Now, for the big question. Has it come up before about protecting those images in FA articles to keep them from being overwritten? The initial image was from a site closer to the WB source than the current one, and it seems like a pain in the ass to undo the mistakes/personal ennui of an editor not clear on how to upload a new image. Everything looks good with your image. As for protecting them all, I don't really think it's appropriate: just because they're images used on an FA doesn't mean that they can't be improved upon. Restore deleted image?

Would you please consider restoring Image:GraphiteReactor.jpg? You are the administrator who deleted it back in April after it was transwikied to Commons. It recently was deleted from Commons. I've posted about the situation at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions#Re: Image:GraphiteReactor.jpg. I still believe this is a free image and I would like it to be restored to the articles in EN in which it was used, but I don't think it is worth the trouble of proving that its license is sufficiently free to allow distribution on Commons. --Orlady (talk) 16:14, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I think the father and son tale may be true. I would like to reduce the block of Mdandrea (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) to two months, the same as his father Markdandrea (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log).
