Re-submitting a page
Hello! This is about the Eugen Rochko page, which was rejected. Because of my user rights, I could have started a fresh page, but instead, I addressed the issues that were holding this page up - and then re-submitted it. Was that the right thing to do? However, I didn't deal with the issue about the original having been a translation from the German page - I speak German, and can verify the translation, but it wasn't clear to me what to do about noting the translation. Hope you can help! Hildabast (talk) 00:48, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Hildabast,
- Thanks for reaching out. The German Wikipedia may have different notability guidelines, so thats why you found it there.
- To be honest, the article is probably pretty close to being accepted. Maybe if you could find 1 or 2 more independent sources, it should be good. If you find these, feel free to let me know and I can get it accepted quickly.
- Also, some small suggestions: Maybe add some more info to the lead and infobox? And possibly move the stuff about Mastodon to a seperate section like "career".
- If you have any further questions, feel free to reply. Thanks, echidnaLives - talk - edits 01:16, 1 November 2022 (UTC).
- Thanks! Will do!
- Hildabast (talk) 01:37, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- I've done that now - added a couple of extra independent sources, and some more info. There's a full birthdate on the Finnish WP, but I can't see where it comes from. Given how often his age is mentioned in interviews, the year seems right. I checked some additional details, and corrected/tweaked a couple of details - all noted. Fingers crossed we're there! Thank you so much!

- @Hildabast As you have probably noticed, I have accepted the article. Thanks for creating and expanding it! echidnaLives - talk - edits 03:07, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Hello, EchidnaLives,
I just thought I'd tell you that this article, which you approved for AFC review, has been tagged for speedy deletion. You might want to check out the deletion rationale or, if you strongly disagree with the tagging, you could discuss it with the editor who tagged the article. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 06:51, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- And an IP editor just removed the tagging but I think they'll be reverted and the article will be re-tagged. Liz Read! Talk! 06:52, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hey @Liz.
- Thanks a lot for telling me. I only just became an AfC reviewer, and I'm still learning the notability guidelines and other policies associated with the role.
- I'll try and work on the guidelines associated with the speedy deletion rationale more tonight. Thanks, echidnaLives - talk - edits 07:50, 1 November 2022 (UTC).
Africa's first humanoid
Hello EchidnaLives, I have updated my article on Africa's first Humanoid. I think you should take a look. Victorh7 (talk) 10:08, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
Hi EchidnaLives. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. ~Swarm~ {sting} 19:36, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
I've nominated this at AfD and courtesy pinged you. That does not mean I expect you to contribute. Mhy won stance at AfDF with my own acceptances is as follows:
- I have a firm personal policy of steadfast neutrality at articles I accepted at AFC. I follow the guidance that a draft must, in my view, have a better than 50% chance of surviving an immediate deletion process. This is an immediate deletion process and I await the community's view. If kept, I will be pleased. If deleted, I will correct anything I feel needs to be corrected in my reviewing. Reviewers get better when their work is sent to AfD, which allows the community to decide as opposed to a single reviewer.
You may choose a different approach. I am not criticising your acceptance, just disagreeing with it. There is a difference. Now, the community may decide. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:18, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Timtrent, and thanks a lot for letting me know. I have no objection to it being submitted for AfD, and would just like to let you know there has been a discussion about it here as well. Thanks, echidnaLives - talk - edits 23:07, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm in full agreement about accepting borderline drafts. It gets them into mainstream community action, and out of the Draft pseudo-queue. I think this the outcome will be either a HEY or draftification. Wikipedia is improved by any of the outcomes available to the community. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 05:19, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
DYK for G-class Melbourne tram
On 13 November 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article G-class Melbourne tram, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Victoria State Government has ordered 100 G-class trams, which is the largest domestic order in Australian history? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/G-Class Melbourne tram. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, G-class Melbourne tram), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Cbeebies 2022 logo showing the 2002 logo?
This file that you upload was named as File:CBeebies 2022 logo.svg, but the image that shown is in fact the 2002 logo, raising the risk of confusion with already existing file that use the 2002 logo File:CBeebies.svg. Could someone replacing the file with the correct 2022 logo according to the source (https://logos.fandom.com/wiki/File:Cbeebies2022.svg), because the 2022 logo included the new BBC logo in Reith font in the top centre, while the 2002 logo includes Gill Sans BBC logo below CBeebies font. 180.254.165.42 (talk) 08:14, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello,
- Sorry, I didn't notice there were 2 logos on the logopedia page. I will work on it now, but I may need to upload it under a different file name.
- I'll let you know when it's done. Thanks, echidnaLives - talk - edits 08:25, 15 November 2022 (UTC).
- Please see my reply at your talk page. Thanks, echidnaLives - talk - edits 08:39, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
Hello,
Thanks for chipping in at WP:AFC/R. I do have a couple things I wanted to mention though. Please make sure that the target the user is requesting is a valid target. You created The Jaws of Life (Pierce the Veil album) and it's pointed to a subsection that does not exist. Please also try to add an appropriate redirect category when applicable. I've fixed it in this case, but please try to keep these things in my moving forward. Thanks again for helping out =) Hey man im josh (talk) 12:14, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'd also recommend utilizing this script to process requests: User:Enterprisey/AFCRHS.js Hey man im josh (talk) 12:17, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks Hey man im josh for letting me know and telling me about the script, I really appreciate it! echidnaLives - talk - edits 12:20, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'd like to join @Hey man im josh in thanking you for your help at AFCRC.
I've changed the formatting of your mass closure (here), to keep things standardised, given that both the script and the archiving bot have to parse the page. — Qwerfjkltalk 21:41, 15 November 2022 (UTC)- Thanks @Qwerfjkl, with so many requested redirects I wanted to make it more simple, but now that I'm also using the script I see that it wasn't the best way. Have a good day! echidnaLives - talk - edits 21:45, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
