Not sure if this interests you, but a 'legacy' section has been added consisting of 2 long quotes from 19th century authors (Rawlinson being one). Besides being far too long, these don't seem appropriate and certainly don't reflect the modern view. For instance, no mention of the alphabet. Dougweller (talk) 10:26, 7 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

recent edits on syria

edit

Hello, thanks for your contributions but your recent edits in the page syria/Eblaites and Amorites+Arameans and Phoenicians sections has been reverted for the next reasons :

1- the Tudiya has been refused, its an old reading , all the new readings of the ebla tablets record abarsal not Tudiya, please have a look at Paolo Matthiae the discoverer of ebla book Paolo Matthiae,Abarsal

2- back in ebla time, Mari wasnt an amorite state, that happened long after the akkadian empire

3-the conquest of shamshi adad didnt end the prosperity of Mari, on the contrary it continued the prosperity during the reign of zimri-lim

4- during the middle assyrian empire only eastern syria became part of assyria, they didnt control areas west of the euphrates which mean that most of syria wasnt part of asyria back then, only Ashur-resh-ishi I and Tiglath-Pileser I penetrated the west starting from 1130 bc and by 1073 bc Ashur-bel-kala had to fight the arameans in syria and immediately after his death Assyria started to loose most of its conquests, so for less than a 100 year Middle assyria controled much of syria and this isnt enough to say that Between 1365 and 1020 BC assyria controlled syria, i fixed that by writing that during the reign of Tiglath-Pileser I most of syria became under the rule of assyria

5-you added Lebanese phoenician cities, its true that those cities were part of historical syria but this article is about modern syria

please if you have any notes share them in the talk page--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 10:44, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your edit to the Lead in ISIS

edit

You will need to provide citations for the new countries you have added to the list! In section 12 there is a list of countries which designate ISIS as a terrorist organization, with footnotes to prove it. You will need to add your new countries there along with footnotes to back up in the same way. You need to cite a source for Amnesty International as well. Your entry, "widely regarded as a terrorist organization" is already covered in the next sentence, so is not necessary. There was a long discussion on the Talk page about the use of the word "terrorist" in the Lead; I recommend you read it. Also, the countries do not need wikilinks! --P123ct1 (talk) 07:49, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Can you provide these citations, please? (You can now put them beside the countries in the Lead, not in the box in section 12.) I may remove the countries you added if you do not, as this uncertainty in the Lead is making Wikipedia look unprofessional to the outside world. --P123ct1 (talk) 10:17, 15 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Syria

edit

Hello Eddie, I noticed that you are interested in the history of syria however this section is becoming too big when its suppose to be a summary, you might consider writing in the History of Syria article as the main article of syria is turning into a history article which is against the rules of the encyclopedia. and also it seem that your edits focus more on Assyria instead of Syria ! but Assyria have its own article. Greetings .--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 15:22, 22 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for disruptive editing at Talk:Assyrians and likely block evasion. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Fut.Perf. 08:19, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

{unblock|Are you SERIOUS?? Why is this allowed carte blanche to summarily block people. I have noted that NUMEROUS people are commenting on the Assyrian People Talk Page, is everybody blocked?. In addition, the Talk Page is not locked, which means people are presumably FREE to contribute, nowhere does it say you cannot do so. If you cannot contribute to a talk page then how on earth are you supposed to edit the article, abject nonsense. If editors are not allowed to contribute, then block the Talk Page, if not, then dont block editors. In addition, WHERE is there evidence of block evasion, whatever that is?}}

Actually NO, I am NOT ‎86.7.230.41 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) or 81.111.12.105 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). I have also provided references to edits I make on pages. The only misbehaviour here sonny boy, is you accusing people of using multiple accounts, unless you have absolute PROOF that that is what I am doing, and unless MY ACCOUNT has a recent history of disruptive editing (which it does NOT), this block should be removed. In addition, why would I bother using anonymous accounts when I have my own? Utterly illogical.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I have been blocked for disruptive editing on a talk page, no warning was given, and the block is a long one. I was not edit warring, vandalising articles, nor posting unreferenced material. I made a 3 line comment, which was not referenced true, but it was on a talk page and not a Wiki article. My recent history of editing articles has been constructive and referenced. I have been accused of having a POV, however on the Assyrian continuity Talk page I recently appealed for more referenced material Opposing continuity!, I have also been accused of likely using multiple unsigned accounts, which I actually am not. I had no warning before being blocked which is not Wiki normal practice, nor do I actually comment much on Assyrian people Talk Page. Those amendments I did make on Assyrian People were referenced, and I used the talk page prior to making some of those to gain concensus. I believe I behave properly on Wiki, and do not deserve to be blocked. If Wiki feel I am out of line, a warning together with an explanation is sufficient

Decline reason:

Telling lies that can be contradicted by any checkuser is not a good way to get unblocked. --jpgordon::==( o ) 15:32, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

--jpgordon...And exactly what lies am I telling?

Any checkuser can verify the falsity of your claims of innocence. I'm sure if you request unblock again, another checkuser will come by to reassure you of your mendacity. --jpgordon::==( o ) 03:27, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I am being picked on here, wholly unreasonably. has also unfairly reverted my restructuring Assyrian continuity, which was Fully referenced, made the article read better, and was in response on the Talk Page to a request to restructure, and included opposing views which were not even in the original article. On the Assyrian continuity Talk page I even asked for MORE opposing views. So, how on earth was that Disruptive Editing??? As for using multiple accounts, --jpgordon I am not personally doing that at all. I know at least 5 people in my close community, including my partner, who are interested in this particular subject, and have discussed Assyrian related issues with them, I know at least three have contributed to Wiki, but they are not actually me.
