Hi,

I did rewrite the page significantly to make it sound less like an advertisement and use only neutral language throughout. There are also many links to media articles. Can you or someone please specifically tell me where exactly it is lacking?

Thank you,

File permission problem with File:Full body shot of Mr. Daniel Chavez Moran, founder of Mexican company Grupo Vidanta and the non-profit Fundacion Vidanta.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Full body shot of Mr. Daniel Chavez Moran, founder of Mexican company Grupo Vidanta and the non-profit Fundacion Vidanta.jpeg, which you've attributed to Grupo Vidanta. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:27, 4 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Edyang. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Daniel Chavez Moran, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. It appears that you are employed as a PR to the subject of this article. [1] Logical Cowboy (talk) 05:14, 9 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Daniel Chavez Moran, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. You should not remove the COI tag from an article about your client Logical Cowboy (talk) 16:39, 9 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

COI

edit

Hi Ed. While I'm not going to tell you that you can't participate at this AFD, I'd probably suggest you shouldn't, right now, for your own sake. You obviously have a conflict of interest about which you have been reasonably open about and for that you should commended. I still have concerns about some of it (as I noted at WP:COIN and elsewhere) but you should probably also know that an editor you collaborated with on another article (who had a paid editing conflict of interest, having also been paid by your client from the looks of it) was yesterday blocked indefinitely for sock-puppetry as the sock of one of Wikipedia's most prolific paid editing sock-puppeteers. From what I can tell, all of that has nothing to do with you except for the single common client. If you really don't have anything to do with any of that, I'd hate for your business to suffer from any blow-back, especially since you've been open and honest about who you are. You shouldn't feel any need to respond to this note, though I'm more than happy to chat about it if you wish. Stalwart111 00:47, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Stalwart111, thank you for the guidance. To be completely honest, I was not fully aware of the COI guidelines and did my best to follow the neutrality language etc. I just read this after responding to your last post on the AFD page, so my apologies. I will do my best to lay low and avoid any COI instances. I've been working on being a productive member of Wikipedia by shoring up other articles in areas that I'm interested. Please do let me know how I can continue to improve.Edyang (talk) 22:57, 31 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
No problem - I'll try to respond to that in a way that doesn't force you to respond. But I raised the concern here, so your continuing that conversation with me there is obviously all in good faith. I regularly work with conflicted editors to make amendments to articles where they have a declared interest. Happy to help you too. Other than that, pick an area of interest away from your work and get stuck in. Always good to have new editors with a PR/writing background. I'll also start your user page - User:Edyang - so you can tell people a bit about yourself. Stalwart111 00:05, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! The funny part is I'm finding editing Wikipedia sort of addicting. There's a certain sense of accomplishment in resolving "Citation Needed" and feeling like you're being a part of a greater community.Edyang (talk) 00:08, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
You can indent using colons - " : " - which helps to define different comments. Stalwart111 01:30, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
It certainly is! One of the best ways to get involved in interesting stuff is to join one of the many Wikiprojects - groups of editors interested in particular topics. There are Wikiprojects for almost everything from WP:Wikiproject Economics to WP:WikiProject Skateboarding (I'm a member) through to WP:WikiProject Chemistry. Most maintain "to do lists" of things they need members to work on. Happy hunting! Stalwart111 01:30, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
