March 2023
Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! –DMartin 23:28, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- I reverted your edit becuase it was unexplained and seemed non-constructive. –DMartin 23:29, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Not to be rude, but how is "Changing short description from "Wikipedia list article" to one that is intentionally blank" an empty edit summary!? It even links to the designated guideline, WP:SDNONE, which describes when short descriptions should be "none". ~ Eejit43 (talk) 00:33, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- "Wikipedia list article" is a short description that should never be used, and if you do a quick search, you can see it isn't found on any other pages. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 00:33, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Question regarding Paul, Crown Prince of Greece
Hi, I saw that you reverted my change in that wiki page. It is the first time I try to submit a change and would appreciate some help. I have 2 sources that prove that the title "Crown Prince of Greece" doesnt stand. 1) Constitution of Greece, Article 1 of the Constitution of Greece states that "Greece is a parliamentary republic," while Article 2 specifies that "The form of government is a democratic republic." and 2) "Constitutional Monarchy: An Outdated Form of Government?" by Kevin J. Connolly, which states that "when a monarchy is abolished, the office of Crown Prince ceases to exist". Since those are concrete data that prove that title "Crown Prince of Greece does not exist, how can I add them? Gtx30bp (talk) 21:24, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Gtx30bp while I'm not familiar with the subject area, such major changes to an article, especially a biography of a living person, needs reliable sources (see this guide to referencing). If the changes could potentially controversial (I'm not saying this necessarily is), they should be discussed on the article's talk page first. Additionally, a few sentences (or more) should probably be added to the article to note such a major change. If you have further questions, feel free to ask them at the Teahouse. Welcome to Wikipedia! ~ Eejit43 (talk) 01:53, 18 March 2023 (UTC)

Can collecting edit
Hi Eejit! Just one word of advice: I saw you edited the page of can collecting which I am working on. I will ask you that when you see the {{inuse}} tag, to please refrain from making any edits yourself. I was making an edit at that time and when you put the tag in there, it caused an edit conflict, which in turn caused me to lose all the info I had written and made me have to write it again. That is the reason the inuse tag itself says to please not make any edits yourself while it is there. I'm ok with it because I myself have done things that I later reverted on these pages, but many other editors might find this annoying and maybe even get angry at you next time you do that. Once "inuse" is gone you can and are, of course, welcome to edit the page. Thanks and God bless you! Sincerely yours, Antonio Life is like a pop soda Martin (wassap) 13:28, March 22, 2023 (UTC)
- @AntonioMartin I did refrain from making edits to content you had written, and simply removed an invalid DEFAULTSORT (I do realize now I also tagged an empty section). If you do encounter an edit conflict, you can scroll down and find the content you had written, it has not disappeared. {{inuse}} is generally intended for making general changes to an article's content, not the simple changes I made. I'm sorry I caused you to lose your work. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 14:43, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
Declined Pages - not enough sources
Hi Eejit43 - our page was declined after submission for not having enough sources. I have cited and referenced throughout the page using true and official media coverage. Can you specify how many sources are needed for a page to be accepted and different types of sources required please? Thank you! Z4r4$m1th123 (talk) 16:53, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Z4r4$m1th123 sorry but I'm not currently in a state to be able to respond to this appropriately. Please ask any questions you have at the Teahouse. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 17:58, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

Vandals: Dmhw, Ylogm
Hi, I noticed that recently User:Dmhw and User:Freeman6000 have vandalized and blanked several pages regarding the Ming dynasty of China. They have been warned numerous times to stop blanking and removing content from pages, yet they continue to do so.
Also, their editing habits appear similar to User:Ylogm who was blocked here: [3]. For example, Ylogm and Dmhw have similar usernames (string of random letters). They also edit similar articles within a close time interval that few other users edit such as [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], any many other articles.
These similar editing habits suggest that Ylogm, Dmhw are the same user. After Ylogm was blocked on March 3, 2023, the account Dmhw was created on March 8 to evade the block [12].
Do you know how Dmhw can be stopped?
Thank you very much. EchoAyatoZhao53 (talk) 01:02, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- @EchoAyatoZhao53 thanks for letting me know, I'll reopen the SPI case for the main user! ~ Eejit43 (talk) 01:06, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I would put both users User:Dmhw and User:Freeman6000 as they both display these similarities in destructive editing behavior to User:Ylogm. EchoAyatoZhao53 (talk) 01:07, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- I see that you've already contacted The Blade of the Northern Lights, and Drmies handled it. Thanks! ~ Eejit43 (talk) 01:09, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I would put both users User:Dmhw and User:Freeman6000 as they both display these similarities in destructive editing behavior to User:Ylogm. EchoAyatoZhao53 (talk) 01:07, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi, Dmhw / Ylogm is back again under the new account User:Victor Huang Ming, blanking contents from the same pages: [13], [14], [15]. Could this account be stopped as well? Thank you. EchoAyatoZhao53 (talk) 04:41, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
- Seems to already have been handled. In the future, please note I'm not an administrator so I cannot directly handle an issue, I have to contact someone separately. Thanks for noticing this! ~ Eejit43 (talk) 12:39, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Nabab Nandini (disambiguation)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Nabab Nandini (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Gemma Collis
Hi Eejit43,
I'm happy to accept I didn't make my edits the right way - I jumped into this after a conversation with Gemma herself, who is no longer married and desperately wants her ex-husband's name removed from the title of the page. I've never edited on wikipedia before. I'll try and find a reference for the separation, but I don't think I have edit permissions for the title of a page without being an admin. Musashi1286 (talk) 16:25, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- If you have a reliable source for this, I'd be happy to make that move for you! :)
- In the future you can also make requests through WP:RM/TR before you gain the autoconfirmed right. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 16:27, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The system for automatically creating categories for the Babel extension has had several important changes and fixes. One of them allows you to insert templates for automatic category descriptions on creation, allowing you to categorize the new categories. [21][22][23][24][25]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 4 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 5 April. It will be on all wikis from 6 April (calendar).
- Some older Web browsers will stop being able to use JavaScript on Wikimedia wikis from this week. This mainly affects users of Internet Explorer 11. If you have an old web browser on your computer you can try to upgrade to a newer version. [26]
- The deprecated
jquery.hoverIntent
module has been removed. This module could be used by gadgets and user scripts, to create an artificial delay in how JavaScript responds to a hover event. Gadgets and user scripts should now use jQueryhover()
oron()
instead. Examples can be found in the migration guide. [27] - Some of the links in Special:SpecialPages will be re-arranged. There will be a clearer separation between links that relate to all users, and links related to your own user account. [28]
- You will be able to hide the Reply button in archived discussion pages with a new
__ARCHIVEDTALK__
magic word. There will also be a new.mw-archivedtalk
CSS class for hiding the Reply button in individual sections on a page. [29][30][31]
Future changes
- The Vega software that creates data visualizations in pages, such as graphs, will be upgraded to the newest version in the future. Graphs that still use the very old version 1.5 syntax may stop working properly. Most existing uses have been found and updated, but you can help to check, and to update any local documentation. Examples of how to find and fix these graphs are available.

A request on rmtr-helper script
Hi there! Thanks for writing the userscript. It has been helpful. A minor request: when there's no more request left after processing (i.e. Special:Diff/1148206293), indicate in the edit summary as so (i.e. Special:Diff/1148179135). It would be helpful for those who are looking through their Watchlist for new requests to be processed. – robertsky (talk) 18:37, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- That is a great idea, I'll add that later today. :) ~ Eejit43 (talk) 19:06, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Robertsky done! It will look like "Handled 2 requests: Removed Main Page, Test as completed (no requests remain) (via script)" now. Sorry that took a whole day, I was working on some other things :) ~ Eejit43 (talk) 01:28, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- No worries! I expect delays anyway, as part and parcel of software development. :3 Thanks for working on this. :) Cheers! – robertsky (talk) 02:17, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

He shot a couple of documentaries, short and fiction movies, like: Alan, Iron Curtain, Henry, 48 Days of May and The Other Me which executive producer is David Lynch, also I can show you all sources and I can add lot of information about his works: commercials, music videos and etc. he is from Georgian and his DOB I took from National Filmography of Georgia's website http://geocinema.ge//en/persons/5563 and from Nation Library of Georgiahttp://www.nplg.gov.ge/bios/ka/00018322/ One of his best Georgian song "Beautiful day" (ლამაზი დღე) was best song year and the last information that I have, he has the new position from the Georgian government, he is culture ambassador in USA, its very strange that this is not enough info for wikipedia, thank you for your attention Ggrusin (talk) 22:32, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for your review of my draft. I signed on Wikipedia a long time ago but am new to actually editing and submitting. If this message is in the wrong place please delete. I am still getting used to the format of this site and will be working on making my draft publishable.

Recent changes
- Last week, Community Tech released the first update for providing better diffs, the #1 request in the 2022 Community Wishlist Survey. This update adds legends and tooltips to inline diffs so that users unfamiliar with the blue and yellow highlights can better understand the type of edits made.
- When you close an image that is displayed via MediaViewer, it will now return to the wiki page instead of going back in your browser history. This feature request was voted #65 in the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey. [54]
- The SyntaxHighlight extension now supports
wikitext
as a selected language. Old alternatives that were used to highlight wikitext, such ashtml5
,moin
, andhtml+handlebars
, can now be replaced. [55] - Preloading text to new pages/sections now supports preloading from localized MediaWiki interface messages. Here is an example at the Czech Wikipedia that uses
preload=MediaWiki:July
. [56]
Problems
- Graph Extension update: Foundation developers have completed upgrading the visualization software to Vega5. Existing community graphs based on Vega2 are no longer compatible. Communities need to update local graphs and templates, and shared lua modules like de:Modul:Graph. The Vega Porting guide provides the most comprehensive detail on migration from Vega2 and here is an example migration. Vega5 has currently just been enabled on mediawiki.org to provide a test environment for communities. [57]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 9 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 10 May. It will be on all wikis from 11 May (calendar).
- Until now, all new OAuth apps went through manual review. Starting this week, apps using identification-only or basic authorizations will not require review. [58]
Future changes
- During the next year, MediaWiki will stop using IP addresses to identify logged-out users, and will start automatically assigning unique temporary usernames. Read more at IP Editing: Privacy Enhancement and Abuse Mitigation/Updates. You can join the discussion about the format of the temporary usernames. [59]
- There will be an A/B test on 10 Wikipedias where the Vector 2022 skin is the default skin. Half of logged-in desktop users will see an interface where the different parts of the page are more clearly separated. You can read more. [60][61]
-
jquery.tipsy
will be removed from the MediaWiki core. This will affect some user scripts. Many lines with.tipsy(
can be commented out.OO.ui.PopupWidget
can be used to keep things working like they are now. You can read more and read about how to find broken scripts. [62]

Singular error
On 13 May you changed a section heading of HMS Port Napier from "External link" to "External links", and you described your edit as "Fix improper section titles". Port Napier has only one external link, so the heading was not "improper", and you have not "fixed" it.
This is not the first time you have changed the heading of such a section from singular to plural, when there was only one item in the section. It is not correct grammar. If in future a contributor adds a second item to a section that has only one, that is the time to change the heading from singular to plural. Please trust other contributors to be literate enough to do so.
Thankyou. Motacilla (talk) 06:57, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Motacilla that is actually incorrect per MOS:LAYOUTEL. It states that "External links" should be plural, even if it lists only a single item. :) ~ Eejit43 (talk) 15:06, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Problems
- Citations that are automatically generated based on ISBN are currently broken. This affects citations made with the VisualEditor Automatic tab, and the use of the citoid API in gadgets and user scripts. Work is ongoing to restore this feature. [63]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 May. It will be on all wikis from 18 May (calendar).
- Starting on Wednesday, a new set of Wikipedias will get "Add a link" (Gorontalo Wikipedia, Hausa Wikipedia, Hakka Chinese Wikipedia, Hawaiian Wikipedia, Fiji Hindi Wikipedia, Croatian Wikipedia, Upper Sorbian Wikipedia, Haitian Creole Wikipedia, Interlingua Wikipedia, Interlingue Wikipedia, Igbo Wikipedia, Iloko Wikipedia, Ingush Wikipedia, Ido Wikipedia, Icelandic Wikipedia, Inuktitut Wikipedia, Jamaican Patois Wikipedia, Javanese Wikipedia). This is part of the progressive deployment of this tool to more Wikipedias. The communities can configure how this feature works locally. [64]
Future changes
- There is a recently formed team at the Wikimedia Foundation which will be focusing on experimenting with new tools. Currently they are building a prototype ChatGPT plugin that allows information generated by ChatGPT to be properly attributed to the Wikimedia projects.
- Gadget and userscript developers should replace
jquery.cookie
withmediawiki.cookie
. Thejquery.cookie
library will be removed in ~1 month, and staff developers will run a script to replace any remaining uses at that time. [65]

Recent changes
- Citations can once again be added automatically from ISBNs, thanks to Zotero's ISBN searches. The current data sources are the Library of Congress (United States), the Bibliothèque nationale de France (French National Library), and K10plus ISBN (German repository). Additional data source searches can be proposed to Zotero. The ISBN labels in the VisualEditor Automatic tab will reappear later this week. [68]

Oestrogen wikipedia page
You told me that "Estrogen" wasn't a spelling mistake, I'm 100% sure it is spelt Oestrogen, as is shown in the dictionary - the page you told me it wasn't spelt wrong was this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estrogen 14sirs (talk) 11:31, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- @14sirs per MOS:ENGVAR, The English Wikipedia prefers no national variety over others. "Oestrogen" is the British English spelling, whereas "estrogen" is the American English spelling, as seen here and here. Editors should not change between there variations, at least without general consensus, especially seeing as "estrogen" has been the spelling that has existed for the entire page history. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 11:44, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't realise that Estrogen was the American english version, I thought it was a typo 14sirs (talk) 10:35, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- No worries! :) ~ Eejit43 (talk) 11:53, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

I've been absent from WP:AFCRC for a while, and I noticed this new script. Great work! If you ever have the time, here's a couple of feature requests:
- Allow addition of multiple rcats
- Allow adding parameters to rcats (the only rcat I can think of for this is
{{R from alternative language|from|to}}
, but I'm sure there are more.
Hope everything's going well, and happy editing! — Qwerfjkltalk 21:44, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! Both of those are now on my todo list, I'll add them when I eventually migrate the script to OOUI! ~ Eejit43 (talk) 21:46, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
List of Goan Brahmin communities
Hello,
I reverted your AGF revision because of the issue where it is not clear and is not sufficiently detailed which allows for an exception under WP:SDNONE. 05:49, 6 May 2023 (UTC) ThatFungi (talk) 05:49, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- @ThatFungi There has been consensus that "none" is the appropriate description in these cases, if you do a quick search you will see that no other pages have that short description. Another edit has already reverted your revert. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 16:43, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- But again, it is an informational page, not a policy. Exceptions can be made and none is to be used if the title is a clear cut case of what it the article is about. I do not know anything about Goan Braham Communities (like where they are located or what they are and what they represent). If you look at WP:SDNONE it gives a clear cut example of one that would use none because the title explains exactly what it is about. ThatFungi (talk) 16:50, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- I never stated it was a policy. And to respond to the latter part of your statement, how on earth would "Wikimedia list article" help? It specifically says "List of" in the title. Out of the thousands of list articles on enwiki, all use "none", there isn't a single page using "Wikipedia/Wikimedia list article". That is only used on Wikidata, and they have different reasoning for doing so. I won't debate this further, I'm just saying that this is the longstanding precedent to have "none" in these places (there are event bot accounts that have been approved that go around fixing these). ~ Eejit43 (talk) 16:57, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- I’ll stay away from list articles then and let the bot fix it. Thanks. When you say consensus I take it as it became policy as that is usually what people are voting for. ThatFungi (talk) 17:02, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- My bot was approved for this; I only ever ran it once, on around 100,000 articles. I could run it again if there's a need. — Qwerfjkltalk 21:39, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Qwerfjkl shouldn't be any need, there are currently only 5 pages with that short description by my count, unless I'm missing any... thanks though! ~ Eejit43 (talk) 21:41, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- About 500 from
insource:"description|Wikimedia_list"
andinsource:"description|Wikipedia_list"
together. Still probably not worth running a bit on though (and I haven't restricted it to list articles). — Qwerfjkltalk 21:50, 3 June 2023 (UTC)- Ah... I was only checking for
/Wiki[pm]edia list article/i
, I didn't think of the possibility "article" wouldn't be included. Anyway, that short description shouldn't be present on any non-list pages, so I think it would be fine to run, if you want to of course :) ~ Eejit43 (talk) 21:54, 3 June 2023 (UTC)

- Citation and footnote editing can now be started from the reference list when using the visual editor. This feature request was voted #2 in the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey. [72]
- Previously, clicking on someone else's link to Recent Changes with filters applied within the URL could unintentionally change your preference for "Group results by page". This has now been fixed. [73]
Problems

Recent changes
- The content attribution tools Who Wrote That?, XTools Authorship, and XTools Blame now support the Dutch, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Japanese, Polish and Portuguese Wikipedias. This was the #7 wish in the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey. [76]
- The Search Preview panel has been deployed on four Wikipedias (Catalan, Dutch, Hungarian and Norwegian). The panel will show an image related to the article (if existing), the top sections of the article, related images (coming from MediaSearch on Commons), and eventually the sister projects associated with the article. [77]
- The RealMe extension now allows administrators to verify URLs for any page, for Mastodon and similar software. [78]
- The default project license has been officially upgraded to CC BY-SA 4.0. The software interface messages have been updated. Communities should feel free to start updating any mentions of the old CC BY-SA 3.0 licensing within policies and related documentation pages. [79]
Problems
- For three days last month, some Wikipedia pages edited with VisualEditor or DiscussionTools had an unintended
__TOC__
(or its localized form) added during an edit. There is a listing of affected pages sorted by wiki, that may still need to be fixed. [80] - Currently, the "Sort this page by default as" feature in VisualEditor is broken. Existing
{{DEFAULTSORT:...}}
keywords incorrectly appear as missing templates in VisualEditor. Developers are exploring how to fix this. In the meantime, those wishing to edit the default sortkey of a page are advised to switch to source editing. [81] - Last week, an update to the delete form may have broken some gadgets or user scripts. If you need to manipulate (empty) the reason field, replace
#wpReason
with#wpReason > input
. See an example fix. [82]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 13 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 14 June. It will be on all wikis from 15 June (calendar).
- VisualEditor will be switched to a new backend on English Wikipedia on Monday, and all other large wikis on Thursday. The change should have no noticeable effect on users, but if you experience any slow loading or other strangeness when using VisualEditor, please report it on the phabricator ticket linked here. [83]
Future changes
- From 5 June to 17 July, the Foundation's Security team is holding a consultation with contributors regarding a draft policy to govern the use of third-party resources in volunteer-developed gadgets and scripts. Feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome at Third-party resources policy on meta-wiki.

Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 June. It will be on all wikis from 29 June (calendar).
- The Minerva skin now applies more predefined styles to the
.mbox-text
CSS class. This enables support for mbox templates that use divs instead of tables. Please make sure that the new styles won't affect other templates in your wiki. [91][92] - Gadgets will now load on both desktop and mobile by default. Previously, gadgets loaded only on desktop by default. Changing this default using the
|targets=
parameter is also deprecated and should not be used. You should make gadgets work on mobile or disable them based on the skin (with the|skins=
parameter in MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition) rather than whether the user uses the mobile or the desktop website. Popular gadgets that create errors on mobile will be disabled by developers on the Minerva skin as a temporary solution. [93] - All namespace tabs now have the same browser access key by default. Previously, custom and extension-defined namespaces would have to have their access keys set manually on-wiki, but that is no longer necessary. [94]
- The review form of the Flagged Revisions extension now uses the standardized user interface components. [95]
Future changes
- How media is structured in the parser's HTML output will change in the coming weeks at group2 wikis. This change improves the accessibility of content. You may need to update your site-CSS, or userscripts and gadgets. There are details on what code to check, how to update the code, and where to report any related problems. [96]
