Thanks! I'm still sort of figuring things out here, but I think I've mastered the basics at least.

My background is horticulture, specifically fruit breeding, and I've worked with lots of different species, so I know a bit about quite a few of them. Some of them I'd really like to sit down and work out a major revamp of a few of them (the grape and strawberry pages in particular), but I never seem to have the time to really devote a long while to it. My experience with grapes and wine comes from the breeding standpoint. I've tasted so much bad wine that almost all of itl tastes pretty okay to me at this point. strawberries

Strawberries are indeed made of flesh, however the passage as written refers to how they are consumed, such fresh or frozen. Changing the term to "flesh" makes it an awkward and nonsensical sentence. I stand by the edit. Elakazal (talk) 07:44, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Onaka (grape)

The article Onaka (grape) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I may be wrong about this, but it looks a little promotional for Nels Hansen. No links, and few refs. Once mirrors of wiki are taken out, I guess around 100 google hits remain, not all for this grape.See discussion on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Onaka (grape)

Infidel newspapers?

In the original text of the T. V. Munson article that you apparently wrote, there is the sentence "Munson also subscribed to infidel newspapers such as the Blue-grass Blade and occasionally lectured at Freethinker meetings." The phrase "infidel newspapers" has survived unchanged until this very day.

Could you tell me (a native Texan) what you meant by an "infidel newspaper"? There are other adjectives that may be more appropriate for "non-mainstream" newspapers, if that's what you mean.

The edit was made by another user, ColonelDavy, and was not present in anything I wrote. I believe the term was used to describe atheist/agnostic publications at the time, and the italics used by ColonelDavy suggest that it is not being used in the standard sense of the word, but, but I don't actually know.

Hello, Elakazal. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
