Ways to improve James Dring

edit

Hello, Elizzzzz,

Thank you for creating James Dring.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hi Elizzz, well done on your new article. In my opinion, it would benefit from inclusion in additional appropriate categories and by being added to appropriate Wikiprojects. Good job!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Bastun}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Martin Woodall - Headshot.jpeg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Martin Woodall - Headshot.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://www.linkedin.com/in/martinwoodall/ and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Possible Conflict of Interest

edit

Hello, Elizzzzz. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Martin Woodall, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Josey Wales Parley 20:07, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jacob Bradshaw

edit

The article Jacob Bradshaw has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable tennis player who fails to meet WP:GNG and WP:NTENNIS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Edit summaries

edit

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! 82.13.47.210 (talk) 22:00, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the explanation. Got it, I will make sure to include a summary for each edit. Elizzzzz (talk) 22:13, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks; this is to aid the patrollers. It can also help in recalling one's own contributions. I am gnoming around presently, and can't remember edits without a prompt, often  .--82.13.47.210 (talk) 13:09, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your thoughtful explanation. I appreciate your willingness to assist the patrollers and highlight the benefits of the proposed solution. Your proactive approach is commendable, and I am grateful for your offer to help. Let's proceed with addressing the issue together. Elizzzzz (talk) 13:13, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:ChargeFinder Logo.png

Refbombing

edit

Please read WP:THREE and WP:CITEKILL which both, although essays, have relevance to what your inexperience is generating at ChargeFinder; in particular, this from Lonely Planet is only what Wikipedia refers to as a trivial passing mention, being merely five words. If you mouse-hover over the template/blue active text appended after the ref number, it will reveal the reason, (known as a tooltip).

Wikipedia sources need to reflect substantial and ongoing coverage in reliable publications to comply with the basic, but essential, notability requirement.

You should also avoid stacking inline citation boxes like that, and particularly in the lede, as it signifies inexperience and/or desperation/argumentation. Lede refs are optional, but not essential, depending on length of article - some editors will move out to section, leaving 'clean', unbroken prose.-- 82.13.47.210 (talk) 18:23, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on my editing. I appreciate your insights and will take your suggestions into account as I continue to work on the article. Elizzzzz (talk) 19:01, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hope it helps. There is much to learn. Over the years, Wikipedia has become highly-structured and complicated, even for me with 11 years I have to think hard and sometimes get things wrong. No-one said it would be easy, or could be achieved quickly  . rgds,--82.13.47.210 (talk) 00:51, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
