Clean an image and convert it to SVG
edit- Just thought I'd copy this to your talk page too :).
Hello! I have discovered you are the guy who cleaned the Laos Coat of Arms. I actually live in Laos and I find your coat of arms is really nice and well done! Congratulations. I can speak, read, and write Lao language and I can tell you there are some spelling mistakes (if I look with my computer - but maybe I have problems). I would like to ask you if it was possible to clean an image pretty similar to the Laos Coat of Arms (the kind of leaves and the red part at the bottom are the same). It's the logo of the Minsitry of Agriculture and Forestry. You can answer me here and I'll send you the logo in very low definiton. I hope it's not too low... Thanks in advance and keep up the good work. Wikigraphists are really useful! Thanks again and Happy New Year. Emilaca
- I'm sorry if I made mistakes on the text, it was a bit of a hit-and-miss game for me (I can't read or write the script, I was guessing on the shape of each character). It was a while back, but if I remember it was made as an SVG file, so you can scale up the image a fair bit (see here).
- I'm a bit busy at the moment, so I don't think I'll be able to help much here (which is a shame, I enjoy stuff like this). I'd suggest placing a request at the images to improve page, or asking User:Rugby471, who's very good at pretty much anything to do with graphics. Failing that, then try asking someone at Wikipedia:Graphic_Lab/Wikigraphist_abilities. --Dave the Rave (DTR)talk 13:42, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Dave the Rave (DTR) and thank you for your answer! I'm a little bit sad you can't clean my image at the time, so I'll try first to place a request at the images to improve page. Then I'll ask User:Rugby471 or I'll go have a look at the Wikigraphist Abilities page (I've been there and I know the Wikigraphists who work SVG images - that's were I found you!). Thanks again and if ever you have some time, just come back here! Goodbye.
- By the way, I'll try to find a higher-resolution image. The one I actually have is pretty low-definition.
Re: Logo of the ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos
editHmm, that's definitely a tough one. The SVG file by User:DTR is a good start, but it's not the same dimensions and some colors are off. However, I'm not sure I'd be able to do a much better job, due to the low-quality of the original and some of it's features that give it a 'photographic' look. If I have some time I'll try. :D --SyntaxError55 talk 22:47, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and the copyright on Image:Maf laopdr.png is wrong. You said it has no copyright in Laos, but you release it under the GFDL. Please realize that you have no, for lack of a better word, power to license that image under the GFDL. --SyntaxError55 talk 22:51, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oooops! Thanks for telling me! It was far from being clear to me those licenses! I'm changing this right away. Please don't think I've done that by purpose. Emilaca (talk) 10:50, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I've done some work on your WP:GL/IMPROVE request. Please tell me what you think. -- I. Pankonin (t·c) 03:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
