Coronets

edit

Been looking through some of the British Royals pages and have to say, Great Job on the coronet images. Very well done!   Prsgoddess187 20:42, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hiya Mr Pankonin! I happened to have a wondrance, with which you might be able to help me — its occurs to me that Prince Andrew bears a Royal Ducal coronet, Edward a Son coronet, and William a Wales-son coronet. So what would William's be if he were made a duke in his father's lifetime? Would it become a Royal Ducal? Like for example Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence? Cheers DBD 23:27, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
So you consider that a dukedom would not alter William's coronet? DBD 23:59, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Indonesian COA

edit

The first image, the one from vector images.com is obviously a derivation of the gov't COA. At some point derivations can become different enough to allow their own copyright. I don't know how that is defined. Quite probably it depends on how good a lawyer you hire. We should avoid redrawing (in vector) close copies of images from VI as there is a possibility that the image has been changed sufficiently to qualify for its own copyright. Which would be a Russian copyright, because VI is, as you know, in Russia. There's another real world factor. It would take a hell of a lot of rubles to hire a decent attorney in the U. S. or U. K. or wherever they would have to sue Wiki. My thought is to quietly move away from using their images. I put this on your talk page, as I don't want educate certain deletionist parties who frequent the graphics lab, please consider deleting it. Sagredo⊙☿♀♁♂♃♄ 20:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ZESA logo.svg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:ZESA logo.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Lozenge in Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom

edit

Hi Ipankonin, your images are brilliant, and a great addition to articles! Just to let you know that a user (anonymous) claims that the lozenge in the arms of Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom is wrong. I've no knowledge of coats of arms, so I have no idea about it, but the user states:

"On the ascent of her father Edward VII to the throne in 1901 Princess Victoria of Wales became daughter of the Monarch and her title changes to "The Princesss Victoria" and her differencing would have reduced to only three points."

If you could help with this I'd greatly appreciate it :) Thanks, PeterSymonds | talk 20:38, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Missing image Image:Soccer goalkeeper.jpg

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Soccer goalkeeper.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Soccer goalkeeper.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Soccer goalkeeper.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. {{ribbon devices}} bug

edit

Hi, I tried a couple of ways to fix the bug where ribbons with devices start a new line. As I stated on that talk page, it can be fixed by adding display:inline-block; to the outer two divs in each subtemplate, but this won't be well supported until FF3 and IE8 are out. (Actually these two divs could be pulled into the main template since they aren't specific to the number of devices on a ribbon.) – flamurai (t) 21:30, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Armorial for the Earl of Warwick

edit

I believe there is an error with the Armorial of the Earl of Warwick - the "Kingmaker".

The first Grand Quarter, quarters 2 and 3 are depicted as Warwick, but should be Clare. The fourth Grand Quarter, quarters 1 and 4 are depicted as Clare, but should be Warwick.

The Arms of Clare "Or three chevronelles Gules" can be referenced in Burke's General Armory, page 198. The ancient Arms of Warwick "Chequy or and azure, a chevron ermine" are in A Familiar Introduction to Heraldry (Barrington, 1848) page 160. The Arms of Neville detailing the Grand Quarters is in the first reference on page 727. There are many other references - I will get them for you if you wish.

Ribbon Devices Template

edit

I see that you are inactive but did want to mention something relative to the excellent template you made. I just added some text to the talk page for the template -- specifically, that apparently the Navy and Marine Corps do things differently from how the Army and Air Force do them for multiple awards. I will try to get some better documentation and then figure out some way to change the script. The good news is I think that oak leaves all work one way and award stars the other...
