- Zack, it takes time to do all that manually when there is a faster way to do it and I don't know how to do it manually without breaking the links. Please revert the information that I provided which is absolutely correct. Or should i send you the wordings and you will edit the page? Emmanuel Ubani (talk) 23:32, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, editing wikipedia does take time. It should take time, because when you trust an AI to insert things, you break the page. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:33, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have all the information reviewed and validated, please publish it. The current info is obselete and I'm trying to make sure that people receive the correct info from wikipedia. Hence, do the needful my friend. I Can't do it, as i don't have the technical knowhow. Help out Emmanuel Ubani (talk) 23:36, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- Nemiscau Airport
- Nemiscau Airport (IATA: YNS, ICAO: CYHH) is a privately owned aerodrome open to public use in the Eeyou Istchee region of northern Quebec, Canada. It is located approximately 4 nautical miles (7.4 km; 4.6 mi) southeast of the Cree community of Nemaska, along the Route du Nord near kilometre 294.
- The aerodrome is owned by Hydro-Québec and has a single 5,000-foot (1,524 m) gravel runway, designated 09/27, at an elevation of approximately 802 feet (244 m) above sea level. Hydro-Québec originally developed the airport primarily to support its hydroelectric and electrical infrastructure in the James Bay region, including the Nemiscau and Albanel facilities.
- Public opening and regional partnership
- On November 17, 2025, the Government of Quebec and Hydro-Québec formally announced the opening of the Nemiscau aerodrome to the public. The announcement described Nemiscau as the first Hydro-Québec aerodrome to be opened for public use, representing a significant change from its former role as an airport primarily serving Hydro-Québec's activities.
- The public opening formed part of a broader partnership involving Hydro-Québec, the Société de développement de la Baie-James (SDBJ) and the Cree Development Corporation (CDC/SDC). Hydro-Québec retained ownership of the aerodrome while management and development activities were reorganized through partnerships intended to increase Cree participation in the airport's operation and economic development.
- For Hydro-Québec's James Bay aerodromes, SDBJ and the Cree Development Corporation established Aakutaah Holding Corporation, a joint venture owned equally by the two organizations. For Nemiscau specifically, an additional partnership known as Nikaanch was created with the Cree Nation of Nemaska. The Government of Quebec stated that the structure was intended to enable the Nemaska community to increasingly participate in the development and operation of the aerodrome. Cree Nation of Nemaska annual reports also identify Nikaanch as the entity established to support management of Nemiscau Airport.
- The Government of Quebec estimated that the new operating arrangement would support approximately 32 jobs, while the agreement associated with the airport included close to $5 million in investment, primarily for equipment. The government described the public opening as supporting regional mobility, economic development, tourism, commercial activity and access to business opportunities in northern Quebec.
- Role in Eeyou Istchee
- Nemiscau Airport provides air access to Nemaska, a Cree community located on the shores of Lake Champion in Eeyou Istchee. The community is also accessible by the Route du Nord. The airport's location gives it a role in connecting the community and surrounding region with southern Quebec and other Cree communities.
- Following its opening to public traffic, Nemiscau was also included in Quebec's Regional Air Access Program (RAAP). Eligible travellers using Nemiscau Airport are currently listed by the Government of Quebec as qualifying for a 75% regional air travel discount, subject to the program's conditions.
- Airlines and destinations
- Air Creebec provides scheduled passenger service to Nemaska through Nemiscau Airport. Air Creebec's current schedule includes Nemaska/YNS on selected services connecting the airport with Chibougamau and Chisasibi, with connections through the carrier's wider Quebec network.
