Clemence Poesy

Is this how you reply? I'm not sure, so please bare with me. I'm sure your French is very good, and you are right, the accent mark over the e would make an "ay" sound. There have been many arguements at many forums over how you pronounce Clemence's name. I choose to go with Poe-zee because when she was asked her name at the Goblet of Fire press junket Clemence says Poe-zee, not Poe-ay-zee. Since Clemence is French, and it is her name I will continue to say Poe-zee, untill informed otherwise.

Euro coins from pdf, take two

Hi! Today, the National Bank of Slovakia decided on the motifs to be used on Slovak euro coins. I haven't been able to find information about it on the internet, however upon emailing the NBS directly, I quickly received a detailed answer, including a pdf file containing all eight euro coin designs. Could you extract the images from this file, just like you did for the new designs on euro coins? I'd need to email the pdf to you, naturally, since it's not available on the internet AFAIK. Oh ok. I am working on extracting them, but unlike the others, these are on a blue background, AND have been antialiased to it, so I'll either have to remove the antialiasing (which is why I said I'm working on them) or leave it as blue. Which do you think is better? Personally I think white, since it would match the rest. - ^R_H^e_o^d_t 08:03, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Someday but certainly within our lifetime having different currencies will be a thing of the past. We will have a global currency that is redeemable for sustainable levels of access of individuals to potable water, nutrition, living space, medical services and transportation. Harry Potter

For the Half Blood Prince film page she deserves to be in Preimlary. In fact I haven't been very happy with the page since Zetawoof, made some serious trimmings. He says everything needs a source on this page and surely it doesn't. I'm going to move Emma Watson to Cast (Preimlary). In fact I'm thinking of redesigning the whole page. ForestH2

Did you actually use the old PNG to create a vector file? I still have the original vector file (I think it's an EPS/AI) which I used to create a PNG, so it might be better to convert that to SVG. - LeonWhite 22:26, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

EU HDI

The HDI value that I used for the EU as a whole was 0.922. If you look up the list, the place EU would be in, is 9th because you must remove all the EU Member States from the list to prevent double counting. Page Up 12:17, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

You're right, yours is a better trace. "NBC_logo.svg" seems like a better name, though (the format is used in a lot of places, plus the page title is more readable) -- would you consider uploading yours over mine instead?

I've added the template {{Insignia}} to show that the actual use of the image is restricted since it is an official symbol, but {{Symbol}} is not a real license and should be replaced with one. I'm glad it is ok to upload it to Commons, but please specify which license your image falls under. The tag you've chosen does not specify the copyright situation. Thanks for your message. The tag I needed concerned the work you'd done on the image. Since you normally release images to PD, I have tagged this image as {{PD-user}} (= a PD image drawn by you). If a user creates his own drawing of a coat of arms, the copyright status can be different from the original image. As I understand the situation, you've created a new image but used an old one as inspiration / for tracing purposes, this means that this image is independent of the first one, and that the copyright of the image belongs to you. If an image is simply converted through an automatic image converter program (e.g. from .jpg -> .png) the copyright situations remains the same as on the original image. (This is extremely longhaired, I know.)

The status as an official symbol has no relevancy for the image's copyright status, and is covered by the {{insignia}} template. Please take a look at the image's page and see if the tagging is ok with you. Regards. Valentinian ^(talk) 12:00, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Irish TV channel licences

I'm sorry to say that not only is it extremely common for Irish owned channels, or non-Irish, operating to Ireland channels; it is effectively the norm for them to have UK licences, not Irish. With UK licences we have: Setanta's massive group:

1. Setanta Sports 1
2. Setanta Sports 2
3. NASN
4. Rangers TV
5. Celtic TV
6. Setanta Sports 3 (the PPV service)

We then have the Maxtron channels:

1. TWC
2. ActionMax
3. Movies4Men

Then theres Bubble Hits and formerly Channel 6 too. There are also the Irish services of the Viacom channels:

1. MTV Ireland
2. Nickelodeon Eire
3. Nick Jr. Eire
4. Paramount Comedy Ireland

And Sky's:

1. Sky One
2. Sky Sports One
3. Sky News Ireland

With commercial Irish licences, we have:

1. TV3
2. City Channel
3. Setanta Ireland
4. Channel 6

And lots of cable company channels like Chorus Sports and Waterford Cabletext - although most of these don't even have licences. I think that shows that it -is- "Extremely common". Its the entire BCI regulatory package - Irish content, the advertising code, the news requirements, the Irish language requirements that they don't want, and it effectively matches the situation in Sweden - where all their commercial channels bar a very few are UK licenced too. --Kiand 15:53, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

I still see an Irish TV channel as one that is Irish owned or targetted, not nessacerily both at the same time. As goes Nick Jr Ireland - on satellite. NTL haven't picked up the Irish feed yet I believe. Of that, TWC/ActionMax/Movies4Men are all Irish - channels are based in Howth. Sky News Ireland, Sky One Ireland, etc, etc, etc are Irish as they solely target Ireland. By your reasoning, Bubble Hits isn't Irish as it targets a UK audience. Should the Viacom channels be called Canadian, as thats where they're from? And so on. "Not unheard of" is fine, thats not what I was complaining about - what I was complaining about is that it is extremely common, despite what you said in your edit summary. --Kiand 16:37, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Nick Jr. for Ireland has a seperate UK licence and a satellite feed all of its own IIRC, but due to editor amount disparity and a general lack of interest in Ireland by most UK editors, I wouldn't expect it to be mentioned. --Kiand 18:12, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

1. I feel my link from "Patent" towards "European patent law" is not quite appropriate. A separate article entitled "European Union patent law" should probably be created for the sake of consistency. What do you think?
2. There is an article called Intellectual property in Romania. I am considering creating redirects in the template towards this article like this: Romanian copyright law, Romanian trademark law, Romanian patent law, until Romanian copyright law, Romanian trademark law, Romanian patent law are created. What do you think?

Hello,

I see that you have spent a lot of effort to {{Infobox central bank}}. I have some thoughts and would like to discuss with you. The printers and mints are already included on the currency page. Having the same data over multiple places should be kept minimal because any update on those must be global. So only the most vital information should be duplicated. IMHO, printers and mints aren't the most important on the subject of central bank. ISO code is debatable. Thanks for cleaning this up. It turns out that the problem was that I signed inside the template parameters (adding ~~~~ before the closing braces:}}). I obviously didn't preview this correctly or something. The other issue I've been having with this template of late is the picture showing up in the middle of it and disrupting the text. Any ideas? Scientology

Hi. Thanks for your addition to the Scientology article. Please realize that that is a "hot" area and all edits must strictly conform to WP:V and WP:NOR. Your "presumption" is completely OR and has no support from the available information so I editted it out. Not only that but it is likely not even the case as Scientology probably registered as many scientology.xx domain names internationally as possible starting at least 10 years ago to protect their copyrights and it had nothing to do with the presence of an org or mission in the country. --Justanother 20:00, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
