Hello Favre1fan93: Did you know ... that back in 1885, Wikipedia editors wrote Good Articles with axes, hammers and chisels? Thank you for your contributions to this encyclopedia using 21st century technology. I hope you don't get any unnecessary blisters. |

Shang-Chi DYK
Hey, do you plan to do a DYK nomination? I think I remember when we were working on ideas for Black Widow's DYK, Adam said that he used leave the DYKs up to you. I know not every movie ended up with a DYK, but I've been trying to help stay on top of it for the recent MCU GAs. -- ZooBlazer 22:25, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- Yes. Just didn't get a chance to get around to nominating it yet with all the Echo interviews coming out today. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:27, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- No rush since we have a week to get it done. Just mostly bringing it up since I think I ended up doing the Black Widow one in the final hours and wanted to make sure we avoided that situation. -- ZooBlazer 23:53, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Assemble scene
Hey, if you have the time in the near future, would you be willing to do a general c/e of Avengers assemble scene? Trailblazer did one yesterday, but I think it's always beneficial to have multiple sets of eyes have a look when possible. -- ZooBlazer 00:01, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
On 4 February 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a bus-chase sequence in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings took more than a year to plan and was revised more than twenty times? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Seeing how you were able to rename Deadpool & Wolverine's poster without leaving a redirect, I ask if you could please do the same if I list a few files? I've repeatedly applied for this privilege and was rejected every time. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:26, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
TFL submission for List of Marvel Cinematic Universe film actors (The Infinity Saga)
Hi, Favre1fan93. File Rename Request
Hello, Favre! I was wondering if you could move File:Agatha (miniseries) logo.jpg to File:Agatha (miniseries) logo.jpg given the series' D+ webpage recently listed the simplified title and new logo for it. Thank you in advance! Trailblazer101 (talk) 16:46, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Just a reminder, as is done when one moves articles, there are 50+ other articles that the Shōgun TV series links to. It would be helpful, in the future, for you to fix the related pages. Thank you. Wyliepedia @ 03:41, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

Penguin
Hello there, Favre. I wish this didn't come under less than fruitful circumstances, although the editor edit warring over The Penguin directors has (finally) started a discussion at Talk:The Penguin (TV series)#Illogical and inconsistent arguments, after they directed accusations and presumptions of my intentions on my talk (in which it seems they confused me with you, as well), and does not appear to believe anything contrary to their belief is correct, despite our points. Funnily enough, this is second time in a span of a few days where an editor has accused me of "bullying" and edit warring, so I'm trying not to lean as much into their attacks. A query I am unable to find answer to
I have learned that when a TV Show or Movie moves in Filming phase, then its Wikipedia article is made, correct? Then when is the article made for Animated movie or show?
Example being Creature Commandos from DCU has article, but Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man from MCU has no article.
Sorry if this does not belong here. Syed Ahmed Qasim (talk) 17:12, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One
On 24 April 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The New York Times Games
What's the point of this revert? Why not just add the logo (which, if I had those skills, I would've done) rather than deleting a perfectly useful piece of information (as our objective is to build this encyclopaedia, not erase it)? -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 16:39, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Cl3phact0 and Cl3phact0: The caption is explaining all of the logos of the image. If Strands isn't in it, how is it of any help to note that it isn't there? That's more confusing to a reader. Strands is mentioned elsewhere in the article as appropriate. If and when Strands is ever added to that image, then we should update the caption. Not before hand. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:41, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Do you know how to add the logo to the image? -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 16:42, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- No. It is one single image and since Strands is still in Beta, NYTimes is not "advertising" the logo as part of its games suite currently. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:44, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Fair enough. It's actually dull as dull can be (Strands), perhaps it'll end up in the "Former" category. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 16:49, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

X-Men '97
I was behind on the show for a couple weeks. When I caught up the other day I sorted out the cast section and tidied-up the plot summaries. I have been making my way through the rest of the article, cleaning-up what has been added since the series premiered and expanding with extra info. I've done development, casting, and music, plan to get to the other sections soon. - adamstom97 (talk) 17:55, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Awesome!! Appreciate that! I'm caught up on the series (save for this week's episode), but I just saw how unwieldy the article got post release and since I've been on here less frequently, didn't want to take the time to sort through it all as I was catching up on all my other watchlist items. I do have thoughts on reformatting the breakdown you started, but that's not a rush. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:58, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- I did just peek quickly at the cast section and we can utilize level 3 headings of "Main", "Recurring", and "Guest" if we want. The MCU series didn't do this because of the nature of those miniseries and the general lack of consistent characters appearing, but X-Men '97 should follow a "regular" formatting I think. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:06, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- I thought our reasoning for not using those headings on the other series was because there is no differentiation between starring and guest roles in the credits, so we decided to use the film formatting of bullets for the main credits and paragraphs for anyone else in the full end credits list. This series has the same credit formatting as the other ones. - adamstom97 (talk) 18:17, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Ah yes, that was part of it too come to think of it. I think I remembered more so those early ones were like "mini movies" so it actually felt better to format like the film casts rather than "traditional" TV series casts, rather than the fact we didn't get "traditional" guest starring credits per episode. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:21, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- I just double-checked WP:MCUTVCAST and the lack of traditional starring/guest roles is the main thing we talk about there. I have a few thoughts about this, we may want to continue this discussion at the article's talk page. For Loki we kept using the MCUTVCAST format even though there are multiple seasons, since each of those seasons is kind of like a "mini movie" still. The same could be true for this show, it is too early to tell. If we did want to go with a more traditional format then maybe it is worth explaining what the exceptions are at MCUTVCAST? And if we are going to formalise a different approach for this show, we may want to include how the "main" cast is being determined since this is the first MCU show to not actually have main cast credits. - adamstom97 (talk) 18:36, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Got it. Possibly something we can keep on the back burner. I know I won't probably look at the article until the season has ended. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:39, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- We can discuss more over at the article talk page once we know more. - adamstom97 (talk) 18:41, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds good! - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:42, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

Star Wars
Have you happened to have noticed the recent drastic edits to SW character articles by Wafflewombat? I commented with some detail at Talk:Princess Leia#What has happened here?? and restored that article, but they have done similar slashing at other articles I was not following, like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca and Yoda. Appreciate your input.— TAnthonyTalk 21:03, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't follow or watch any Star Wars character articles, sorry. I tend to not edit character articles, regardless of Star Wars or not. Star Wars: Tales
Hello again. I hope that my comments on Talk:Tales of the Jedi (TV series) do not come across negative or rude. Apologies if that is the case. I can completely understand your perspective and I appreciate your responses. I do not want to come across as disruptive or repetitive or taking up too much space or anything like that in the discussion. I always appreciate discussions on Wikipedia, and I think it is a great platform for people to work together. I just wanted to clarify that and also say that I really enjoy your work on here in general. Aoba47 (talk) 19:06, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't feel that at all, and I hope I didn't present my response that I did. Appreciate you chiming in on the discussion because there weren't many voices so having more is always helpful. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:12, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. I did not feel that from your comments either. I just wanted to make sure. I was probably just over-thinking things. I am glad that I could participate in the discussion and hopefully help with it. Aoba47 (talk) 02:53, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
So-called "consensus"
Will you actually link this "consensus" that you are talking about? ภץאคгöร 20:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- It is WP:IMPLICIT. Look at any MCU film article. None have aggregator prose templates. Editors upon release of a new film always add it because they probably see it used elsewhere, but that doesn't mean it should be used. Templates shouldn't lock article text behind them that can't be edited. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:57, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- This is disputed and reverted though. That's why you don't come to your own conclusions or write unreasonable/inconsistent edit summaries. If there was a consensus that templates were "locking" the texts, they wouldn't be created in the first place. Tomatometer is not an "approval rating", and the template at least sets an example for correct usage and better understanding. What is written in any other article does not determine the content of any other article. (PS. You really should avoid contradicting yourself. Your thinking is that we shouldn't use templates because other MCU articles don't use them [probably because a couple of editors including you remove them for such "reasons"] but also write that
"Editors upon release of a new film always add it because they probably see it used elsewhere, but that doesn't mean it should be used."
This means we should also not follow other MCU articles because"that doesn't mean it shouldn't be used"
.) ภץאคгöร 21:19, 30 July 2024 (UTC)- In their current states as of this edit, no MCU film article uses any aggregate prose template. So the use of it on DP&W goes against that. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:27, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- I already wrote why this opinion is invalid. Have you read my comments or will you repeat it again? ภץאคгöร 21:37, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- There is no requirement for articles to use this prose template, and it has been frowned upon for its use in these MCU articles. There is nothing gained by it and nothing lost without it. It is rather easier to just write up the text ourselves and to avoid needles verbiage from the prose template. This is a standard consensus for the MCU articles, so please don't revert back to it as the temp is unnecessary. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:02, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Where is this "consensus" you keep talking about? There's nothing gained by copy-pasting the same thing literally over and over again too, just like what a template like this does. It is not different. "Needless verbiage"? "Approval rating" is needless verbiage. ภץאคгöร 07:18, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- The consensus is WP:IMPLICIT as previously stated. Not every single thing needs to have a previous discussion; most consensus is just formed through continual editing and establishing it with no dispute. This is one of those instances where there the non-template use works just as well, so there is no issue. Adding it to DP&W goes against that. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:46, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- This looks like an automated bot response again. As I've mentioned above, the issue is disputed and reverted, and I already removed the incorrect "approval rating" text that you insistently copy and paste like this template. Choose one thing to be consistent. If you don't want to use the template, you shouldn't copy and paste the same sentence in every MCU article, because then it's no different than using the template. ภץאคгöร 18:08, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- That text is featured on WP:AGG, I see no issue with it. If that wording needs to be updated to alter or remove parts of what's listed there, that a larger discussion for not my talk, nor its use on Deadpool & Wolverine. My main concern is the text and reference not being editable behind the template. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:16, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- AGG may be showing an outdated, inaccurate and nonrequired example, but that doesn't mean you should copy and paste the same sentence for every article. Then it's kind of like using the template while trying to enforce specific wording (i.e.
locking
). ภץאคгöร 20:56, 31 July 2024 (UTC)- It's not the same, because the template wording cannot be changed on a page-by-page basis. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:09, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

- I already wrote why this opinion is invalid. Have you read my comments or will you repeat it again? ภץאคгöร 21:37, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- In their current states as of this edit, no MCU film article uses any aggregate prose template. So the use of it on DP&W goes against that. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:27, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for putting together that article so quickly! After last week's developments, I too was wondering whether it was time to finally turn the redirect into an article. I had actually been thinking about doing so for some time, but just never got to it. InfiniteNexus (talk) 04:09, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah for sure! When there were a few sites talking about the acquisition, I knew at that point there were at least a few outside refs mentioning the site, so it seemed like a good time to get it together. Did just see yesterday that Brandon Davis wasn't able to come to terms on a new contract with them and left, so who knows what will happen with the site and Phase Zero which is a bummer. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 13:05, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I saw that too. We knew something like this could happen, but it's still a shame. Hopefully they can work something out with the Phase Zero podcast. InfiniteNexus (talk) 16:59, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Hey, I'm not certain about the wording you used for Winderbaum's recent comments. He said it does feel like it fits into The Multiverse Saga
but then he said I want to go down this road with you, you know I do, but we're just gonna take a deep breath for a second.
That to me is him saying 'yeah, it does seem like it could connect through the multiverse but I'm actually not going to get into that right now', possibly because Marvel hasn't settled on an official position like they have with the Netflix shows. So I think we could say he "felt like it fit within the Multiverse Saga but was unwilling to confirm any details about that at the time". I'm not sure where this bit comes from in the article: "He cautioned though that Marvel Studios was not planning to integrate the series to their Sacred Timeline at that time." - adamstom97 (talk) 18:42, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Adamstom.97:
He cautioned though that Marvel Studios was not planning to integrate the series to their Sacred Timeline at that time.
was me trying to interpret this bit:I want to go down this road with you, you know I do, but we're just gonna take a deep breath for a second.
I knew we needed some additional statement afterit does feel like it fits into The Multiverse Saga
and that's what I felt worked, but I'm happy if you want to adjust it. We both agree that it's not confirming it like the Netflix series, so that just needs to be made clear. He had an awkward quote so I tried my best with reworking it into our own words. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:43, 19 August 2024 (UTC)- All good, I just wanted to be on the same page before attempting a c/e. - adamstom97 (talk) 20:07, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
Template:Infobox media franchise
Hi @Favre1fan93,
How about adding an optional custom header like this {{{otherheader|Miscellaneous}}}. Anoop Bhatia (talk) 01:04, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- The infobox already supports
|otherlabel[1-9]=
and|otherdata[1-9]=
under a Miscellaneous heading. If you want broader support for dedicated box office and budget parameters, you should start a talk page discussion at the infobox talk page here and get consensus. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 01:41, 20 August 2024 (UTC)- Well i asked your opinion about providing an option to change "Miscellaneous" to the required heading for such cases. Anoop Bhatia (talk) 02:20, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- The heading wouldn't need to change. The info you are looking for could currently be placed under said "Micellaneous" heading, or a discussion should be had to create new parameters and heading. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:37, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

Improvements and Maintenance
- Editors interested in templates can help by reading the latest Wishlist focus area, Template recall and discovery, and share your feedback on the talkpage. This input helps the Community Tech team to decide the right technical approach to build. Everyone is also encouraged to continue adding new wishes.
- The new automated Special:NamespaceInfo page helps editors understand which namespaces exist on each wiki, and some details about how they are configured. Thanks to DannyS712 for these improvements. [1]
- References Check is a feature that encourages editors to add a citation when they add a new paragraph to a Wikipedia article. For a short time, the corresponding tag "Edit Check (references) activated" was erroneously being applied to some edits outside of the main namespace. This has been fixed. [2]
- It is now possible for a wiki community to change the order in which a page’s categories are displayed on their wiki. By default, categories are displayed in the order they appear in the wikitext. Now, wikis with a consensus to do so can request a configuration change to display them in alphabetical order. [3]
- Tool authors can now access ToolsDB's public databases from both Quarry and Superset. Those databases have always been accessible to every Toolforge user, but they are now more broadly accessible, as Quarry can be accessed by anyone with a Wikimedia account. In addition, Quarry's internal database can now be queried from Quarry itself. This database contains information about all queries that are being run and starred by users in Quarry. This information was already public through the web interface, but you can now query it using SQL. You can read more about that, and 20 other community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week.
- Any pages or tools that still use the very old CSS classes
mw-message-box
need to be updated. These old classes will be removed next week or soon afterwards. Editors can use a global-search to determine what needs to be changed. It is possible to use the newercdx-message
group of classes as a replacement (see the relevant Codex documentation, and an example update), but using locally defined onwiki classes would be best. [4]
Technical project updates
- Next week, all Wikimedia wikis will be read-only for a few minutes. This will start on September 25 at 15:00 UTC. This is a planned datacenter switchover for maintenance purposes. This maintenance process also targets other services. The previous switchover took 3 minutes, and the Site Reliability Engineering teams use many tools to make sure that this essential maintenance work happens as quickly as possible. [5]
Tech in depth
- The latest monthly MediaWiki Product Insights newsletter is available. This edition includes details about: research about hook handlers to help simplify development, research about performance improvements, work to improve the REST API for end-users, and more.
- To learn more about the technology behind the Wikimedia projects, you can now watch sessions from the technology track at Wikimania 2024 on Commons. This week, check out:
- Hackathon Showcase (45 mins) - 19 short presentations by some of the Hackathon participants, describing some of the projects they worked on, such as automated testing of maintenance scripts, a video-cutting command line tool, and interface improvements for various tools. There are more details and links available in the Phabricator task.
- Co-Creating a Sustainable Future for the Toolforge Ecosystem (40 mins) - a roundtable discussion for tool-maintainers, users, and supporters of Toolforge about how to make the platform sustainable and how to evaluate the tools available there.

First instance of female nudity in MCU

Weekly highlight
- All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on Wednesday September 25 at 15:00 UTC. Reading the wikis will not be interrupted, but editing will be paused. These twice-yearly processes allow WMF's site reliability engineering teams to remain prepared to keep the wikis functioning even in the event of a major interruption to one of our data centers.
Updates for editors
- Editors who use the iOS Wikipedia app in Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Chinese, may see the Alt Text suggested-edit experiment after editing an article, or completing a suggested edit using "Add an image". Alt-text helps people with visual impairments to read Wikipedia articles. The team aims to learn if adding alt-text to images is a task that editors can be successful with. Please share any feedback on the discussion page.
- The Codex color palette has been updated with new and revised colors for the MediaWiki user interfaces. The most noticeable changes for editors include updates for: dark mode colors for Links and for quiet Buttons (progressive and destructive), visited Link colors for both light and dark modes, and background colors for system-messages in both light and dark modes.
- It is now possible to include clickable wikilinks and external links inside code blocks. This includes links that are used within
<syntaxhighlight>
tags and on code pages (JavaScript, CSS, Scribunto and Sanitized CSS). Uses of template syntax{{…}}
are also linked to the template page. Thanks to SD0001 for these improvements. [6] - Two bugs were fixed in the GlobalVanishRequest system by improving the logging and by removing an incorrect placeholder message. [7][8]
- View all 25 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week.
Updates for technical contributors
- From Wikimedia Enterprise:
- The API now enables 5,000 on-demand API requests per month and twice-monthly HTML snapshots freely (gratis and libre). More information on the updates and also improvements to the software development kits (SDK) are explained on the project's blog post. While Wikimedia Enterprise APIs are designed for high-volume commercial reusers, this change enables many more community use-cases to be built on the service too.
- The Snapshot API (html dumps) have added beta Structured Contents endpoints (blog post on that) as well as released two beta datasets (English and French Wikipedia) from that endpoint to Hugging Face for public use and feedback (blog post on that). These pre-parsed data sets enable new options for researchers, developers, and data scientists to use and study the content.
In depth
- The Wikidata Query Service (WDQS) is used to get answers to questions using the Wikidata data set. As Wikidata grows, we had to make a major architectural change so that WDQS could remain performant. As part of the WDQS Graph Split project, we have new SPARQL endpoints available for serving the "scholarly" and "main" subgraphs of Wikidata. The query.wikidata.org endpoint will continue to serve the full Wikidata graph until March 2025. After this date, it will only serve the main graph. For more information, please see the announcement on Wikidata.
