Thank you for suppressing my material on Beaumont College and the Bells of Ouseley on grounds of copyright infringement. I drafted as I did because I do not think there is any copyright infringement here, as although I have used the website you refer to as a source for some of the material, I believe that this constitutes fair dealing under English law, since only a small part of the source article was used, significant drafting changes were made (and copyright protection applies only to how information is presented, not the information itself), and there are no commercial interests involved (the source website is non-commercial). I have consulted " Wikipedia:Five Pillars" as you suggest, but find little to explain your actions.

I think it especially unfortunate that you have suppressed the whole of these articles, not simply the parts you suppose are offensive. I have no time to pursue this matter further, but think it would be a kindness to those interested in Beaumont College if you were at least to remove the material you suppose offensive and allow the rest to stand.

that "blanking" was a software malfunction

The version the page I was editing had two copies of my insertion. When I edited one of them to remove it, evidently something happened in the collision with Lulu's own editing ahead of me. The sofware has been flakey, I am getting logged out all the time this morning too. Has there been a software upgrade? Thanx for correcting it.--Silverback 17:22, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Silverback, I have reinserted my comments, and I certainly don't approve of you removing them in the first place, even though they were struck. DO NOT remove them again. They were neither "Illegal" or "vandalism" - editors "certifying" the Rfc were people who tried to mediate a solution before the Rfc, there is nothing "certified" about the text of the Rfc per se. The only thing innappropriate going on there is the subject of an Rfc removing comments from the Rfc page. THAT is vandalism, and if you keep it up, I'll block you myself. New Users

How do you find new users and welcome them so fast? Just the normal Recent Changes page and look through it until you find one? Also, why dosen't wikipedia automaticly send out a welcome message, do you think that's a good idea?

I do think the project of Wikipedia is beautiful and also something of new in the history of human civilisation, a kind of self-developing and auto-correcting knowledge system.

Well, I hope to give my little contribute to this project...

By the way, I have a question: I was working at the english article about the italian movie "I'm Not Scared" and I was trying to upload the orginal poster movie, but I did a mistake. I uploaded the image not directly in the article, but in the commons, where fair use is not possible. A message told me that the image will be delete, but it's still there. And now I can't upload the same image (with the same title) in the article because that image is already in the commons. So, if I don't to change the name, what shall I do? I have simply to wait or can I cancel the image in the commons myself?

Hi again,

the name of the file in the commons is "io non ho paura.jpg". It's still there, but don't worry, I solved the problem at the end of the day, I just uploaded the same image with a different name ("I'm not scared original.jpg") directly in the article as movie poster (fair use).

Thank you for welcoming me. I am very new to Wikipedia and didn't know that the contents are all editable. I think this is an awesome idea because you get the opportunity to correct any errors you see without creating too many misunderstanding with the original writer. Furthermore, all contributions will be monitored by administrators such as yourself and this ensures that only useful information goes in and the trash goes out. Besides, this is also an enormous pool of information contributed from all walks of life from all over the world. Point of curiousity though, as administrator, do you have to verify the truth of the information given? What if the contributor (such as myself) contributes something I thought was correct but infact wasn't? - ok, someone else can correct my error - but what if I corrected someone else's error which was infact not an error?

Also, I'm wondering if you have any write-ups about Anne of Green Gables, like photos of the island, perhaps?

One more question, please. While you are at it, why not start up something like this to pool all the folk legends and old wives tale from all over the world? It is through these local legends that you get to know the different people of the world and their wide and varied beliefs.

I'm not even sure if this is the correct way to write to you but if this goes where it shouldn't, please redirect it back to Fawcett5.

Kinda busy ATM, but I'll dig into it this weekend, see what my sources say about this University. Personally, I've never heard of it which usually means diploma mill. Queens

Fawcett, I am confused by your concern, there is a link to the Queens federal district on the disambig page as I created it: Queen's (electoral district)... the problem is that federal district was on a page called "Queens (Nova Scotia electoral district)" but there are two districts that could meet that criteria: "Queens (Nova Scotia federal electoral district)" and "Queens (Nova Scotia provincial electoral district)". I merely moved "Queens (Nova Scotia electoral district)" to "Queens (Nova Scotia federal electoral district)" to prevent confusion as one might expect just as well to find information on Queens (Nova Scotia provincial electoral district) at "Queens (Nova Scotia electoral district)". I am not sure what the problem is? Perhaps you mistook what I did or am I missing something here? - Jord 14:04, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

• Ok, I see that I was misreading something, but there were still some problems. I have tried to update the disambig page to fix things. Was there really a PEI provincial district at the same time as the PEI federal? Your page moves have had the effect though of making a lot of articles point to the wrong place. They also upset a long-standing convention for electoral district naming, I would check with User:Earl Andrew to see what he recommends as far as naming conventions and what the latest thinking on that is — he is our electoral district guru. I am not sure about PEI, if you look at the page history, you will see that there were several disambiguation pages for electoral districts named Queens/Queen's so I put all of the disambig data on one disambiguation page which, in my mind, should make things easier to navigate. I've gone through and disambiguated most of those pages pointing to the wrong spot and was surprised to discover about half of them were not a result of any moves I had made, so not only did I clean up my mess but some other messes as well. Yay for me ;) Also good job on the layout of the disambig page, it does make it a lot easier to follow. I've also apprised Earl of what is going on and will wait to see what he thinks but in my mind this is the only way to disambiguate pages in this unique situation. - Jord 16:50, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Jord, if my memory serves I many months ago suggested the same kind of thing that you are proposing now, except when the reality sunk in of what would be involved in actually fixing the many, many similar cases, I quickly came to the conclusion that it was better to stick with the status quo naming convention.... Well I don't think that there are many other cases where this is the case. You don't want to over disambiguate things. If there is an electoral disrtict named X and nothing else is named that then the article should be X (eg. Tobique-Mactaquac). If there is only one electoral district named X but there is some other thing by the same name it should be named X (electoral district) (eg. Halifax (electoral district)). If there are two electoral districts but both are in the same province, then they should be named X (federal electoral district) and X (provincial electoral district), etc, etc... in the unique case when you had districts at both provincial and federal levels and in different provinces would be the only time you would see X (Nova Scotia provincial electoral district) etc, the Queens example is the only one I have ever encountered that fits this criteria though I am sure there would be a handful of others. - Jord 18:09, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

CSD question

You put up ITC Solutions for {{speedy}} and I had two questions for you. Since you're an admin why did you just not delete it? (I suppose it would be bad if there was a rule that you couldn't speedy something you tagged, or you thought should be if there was no tag and I didn't know). Secondly, does it meet the CSD? C-uploaded

Yes, I just uploaded the image locally on top of the red image page that previously pointed to the Commons image. I did this just to protect it while it's being used on the main page. The way to revert to the previos status is to delete the image, but on something like an ITN image it's appropriate to wait a day or so because there are sometimes controversies over what should be up.--Pharos 14:38, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Mi-Ki copyvio again

That copyvio person is back at Toy Mi-Ki. They've ignored hidden comments that it've placed - maybe you could put in a block for a while? • I've put a 24 hr block on 209.225.96.122 for the moment. If it gets really bad, I'd consider a IP range block, but I'd normally do that only in extreme circumstances, as there is high potential for collateral damage. Thanks for your support during my time here, unfortunately it seems Tony is very well placed. Undoubtedly due to my support for his RfAr, I am now falsely accused of sockpuppetry. Radient was good enough to unblock me, but given the users participating it is clear Tony and his ilk run Wikipedia. Quite frankly, this sort of abuse of the system and blatent mob style tactics is the last straw. I am leaving for good here. • Huh what? Very strange. Either there was a database glitch comingling my edit with some vandals, or I inadvertently edited an out-of-date version of the article.
