Image copyright problem with Image:Kiss2004.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Kiss2004.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. BRossow 19:17, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- This image has been replaced with an identical one, Image:Kiss-2004.jpg, with appropriate copyright information. Ferdinand Cesarano 19:34, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Info on image, please
editPlease go to Image:Kiss-1976.jpg and edit that image description page to give the source (URL, if online; ISBN, if scanned from a book; and if you've taken the image yourself, just say so) and the licensing status (the list of image copyright tags might be useful) of this image. All our images should have this information; images without source or license info will be deleted after seven days. Thank you. Lupo 18:47, 29 March 2006 (UTC) (The same applies to all your other image uploads.)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Kiss-logo.gif)
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Kiss-logo.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 14:07, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Ferdinand Cesarano's response to all image-related problems
editI contributed several images to a Wikipedia page, all of which were deleted for violation of the copyright policy.
When I read the Wikipedia policies on images, I thought that I understood that it was allowed to use a picture that had been released by a celebrity for self-promotion purposes, so long as it was stated that the photo was a publicity shot.
Likewise, I believed that one could use a logo, so long as the person uploading it stated that the image was of the identifying mark of the subject of the article.
If further specific sourcing is necessary (as it would seem to be, given the content of the notices I received), then I confess that I am quite at a loss as to how I could go about obtaining this sourcing -- and, indeed, as to what sort of sourcing is even required.
So, then, when uploading a publicity shot, it is not enough to simply state that "Celebrity X released this publicity shot in the year XXXX"? Hmm. What else could possibly be required? The name and phone number of the photographer, perhaps?
Anyway, I tried. The world will just have to struggle by somehow, bereft of the images which I tried to share with it. I have given up on this issue.
(Just as I previously gave up on the issue of preserving my edifying and clearly-written contributions to the article itself from the deformation and destruction wrought by the semiliterate and the ignorant.)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Kiss-solo-albums.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Kiss-solo-albums.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kiss-solo-albums.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Kiss-solo-albums.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:11, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Invitation to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Arena Football League
editBecause of word that the new league formerly called "Arena Football 1" has decided to take on the new Arena Football League moniker, I thought it would be a good time to revive Wikipedia:WikiProject Arena Football League. The team I adopt for this project is the Milwaukee Iron (my home team), and I am leaving this message on your talk page to (hopefully) get you interested. I notice that you're a fan of the Cleveland Gladiators, so if you're interested, please sign up on the members list and we'll get things going again. Rejoice, for ARENA FOOTBALL IS BACK! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Appealing a block
editFerdinand Cesarano (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Today I found out that I have been blocked by the administrator El C. This comes as a shock to me, because I have not made any controversial edits, nor have I engaged in any prohibited behaviour. I have sent an e-mail to the administrator to ask to be unblocked. But so far I have received no answer. This is rather baffling; and I would hope to get an explanation soon.
Decline reason:
Procedural decline only; this account is not blocked directly. If you are unable to edit, please follow the instructions that appear when you do. You might be affected by an IP block or by an 'auto' block targeting another user. :( Yamla (talk) 17:35, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
Response by Ferdinand: OK, I see that it is an IP block. But I don't know what I am meant to do now. Please pardon my ignorance; I have not experienced this before. Ferdinand Cesarano (talk) 17:59, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Ah ha. Let us know your IP address. You can find that using WhatIsMyIP. If you don't wish to provide this publicly, you may use WP:UTRS. Now, depending on your IP address, we may point out you are using a VPN or an open proxy or a weird browser like Puffin (which, in my opinion, you really really shouldn't). But anyway, it should give us enough information to investigate. You are welcome to make a new unblock request with this info in case I'm not online when you respond, but I am watching your page. --Yamla (talk) 18:16, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
According to the block message that comes up when I try to edit a page, the IP address being blocked is 208.87.236.180. And the block ID is 7502038. Thank you for your patience in helping me deal with this. Ferdinand Cesarano (talk) 18:38, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
@El C: El C, you are the blocking admin here. It looks like you meant to block that IP address anon-only, but... also blocked people who are signed in. Deliberate? --Yamla (talk) 18:41, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- Not intentional. It's a new one for me, and I have 3,000+ blocks under my belt. El_C 18:53, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- That's my bad. Try it now—let me know if it worked. El_C 18:55, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
OK! Things seem to be back to normal now. Thank you both for your help. Ferdinand Cesarano (talk) 18:57, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- Good. Sorry, again. El_C 19:59, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Aqueduct Racetrack, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Old-time radio
editThanks for the message that you left on my talk page. It's good to meet another Wikipedia editor who is interested in old-time radio. Most of the articles that I have created have been about old-time radio programs (listed here) or people who worked in old-time radio (listed here), but I have broadened my interests to include old-time TV and actors and actresses of the past beyond radio.
