Welcome, and thank you for your edits to Rags (dog). Unfortunately I have had to revert them to respect WP:Copyright as you had incorporated text from this source. Please take the time to read [[WP:5P]. You'll find it very helpful.LeadSongDog (talk) 03:42, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the reply. For topics pertinent to the article, the article's talk page is the best discussion venue, but because you are new here on WP I raised it here on your talk page as is the normal courtesy. I've copied it back to this page (above) from my talk for the sake of continuity of discussion.
On WP we are very big on citing sources to prevent this kind of problem from arising. My sympathies on the abuse of your work, but you should be aware of the fact that anything you post on WP without express attribution will be assumed to be your original contribution which "You irrevocable agree to release ... under the terms of the GFDL". If you are content to do so, simply provide a citation for where you published the original work and I'll be more than happy to undo my revert and add that citation to the article.
In general, WP avoids self published sources (such as your AOL page) but as you say this was simply a reissue of something you previously had published that principle may not apply in this case. Cheers,LeadSongDog (talk) 17:41, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've attempted to verify your publication, but as yet have been unsuccessful. It does not appear in major catalogues that I've checked, and (as you have said) AOL's hometown sites have been shut down. Perhaps correspondence with the First Infantry Division museum's librarian will be more fruitful. Hang in there.LeadSongDog (talk) 17:58, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:RagsFortHam.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 16:58, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Misapplication of capitals

edit

Once again, I've corrected the capitals you added in the section titles. This is as per Wikipedia's Manual of Style, see WP:MOS#HEAD. Please stop re-adding them, they are wrong. We only capitalize proper nouns and the first word of the title. Also, please be careful to log in when editing. Cheers, LeadSongDog come howl 19:21, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Rags2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 01:23, 7 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 01:23, 7 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please read and follow the above instructions. You'll need to add the license tag to the image file, not to the article using it. Thanks, LeadSongDog come howl 21:09, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
