How to redirect

edit

Hello,

I noticed that you made a page for 'Chips' Channon, telling people to look under Henry Channon. The page can automatically redirect to the correct page with the line: #REDIRECT [[Henry Channon]]

Pancreatic cancer

edit

You reinserted the long list of "victims" on pancreatic cancer without replying to my points on talk:Pancreatic cancer. It is my view that these lists are unsourcable, cluttersome and add little of encyclopedic value to the article. JFW | T@lk 23:36, 18 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree that famous patients do make the article more interesting from a "human interest" point-of-view, but the big problem lies in determining notability. People whose diagnosis with a condition leads to newspaper headlines and science editors writing up the condition and state of the art - that is more notable than random minor celebrities getting ill long after they have disappeared from the public spotlight.
I'm interested in working with others on a guideline for inclusion. JFW | T@lk 20:43, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

List of songs in English labeled the worst ever

edit

You added a POV tag to this article and marked it as a minor edit. Minor edits are those which other editors don't need to look at because they are non-controversial, e.g. a spelling mistake, or some punctuation correction. A POV tag is something that other editors might not agree with, and furthermore it's something that needs to be drawn to their attention as they would need to edit the article for POV. Tyrenius 19:58, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I don't want to be nit-picky, but as the article is up for AfD it makes it even more significant. Tyrenius 20:44, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I reverted your changes to Soy sauce and Soya sauce...

edit

Its bad to basically do a cut and paste move, because it tosses all of the history at the previous article name. I reverted it. If you wish to bring up possibly moving Soy sauce to Soya sauce, please do so at the Talk:Soy sauce page. Cheers! Syrthiss 19:23, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Patrick O’Brian (Economic Historian)

edit

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Patrick O’Brian (Economic Historian), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Patrick O’Brian (Economic Historian). You may remove the {{dated prod}} template, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

Moving Liverpool F.C. to Liverpool Football Club

edit

Hi there, I notice you wished to move Liverpool F.C. to Liverpool Football Club. Just so you know, the current position agreed by consensus is that all articles of clubs called xxxx Football Club are named xxxx F.C. for sake of consistency. If this is to be changed it would have to be changed for all of the clubs. The best thing for you to do would be to take it up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football and make the case for a new consensus. Moving pages

edit

Are you aware of how to move articles in Wikipedia? If not, please read WP:MOVE and WP:RM. I was on WP:RM and there is a move discussion for Honour killing where you performed a copy paste move from Honor killing to Honour killing on November 2, 2006. In reviewing your edit history I noticed a number of other copy paste moves and several other questionable moves on your part. Here are two examples of your improper moves:

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me on my talk page. --Bobblehead 01:02, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I've just been looking at the Prezza move, and I'm not certain whether that title should belong to the article about the town, or redirect to Mr. Prescott. I've started a move-request discussion at Talk:Prezza (Italian town) to see what others think. I'd also like to let you know, if you do a page move like that, please be sure you don't leave loose ends undone. In this case, I added a "dablink" to the top of John Prescott, to help people who end up at that page when looking for the town in Italy — the state you left it in would be confusing to someone looking for the town and suddenly seeing an article about an English politician.
If you look at the list of articles linking to Prezza, you'll note that there are over 100 pages that previously linked to Prezza that are now linking to John Prescott, and need to be fixed if Prezza is to remain a redirect. Unless you're prepared to clean up after yourself in such situations, it's better to leave page moves to those who understand the ramifications.
Please do read WP:MOVE and WP:RM, as Bobblehead suggested above. If you wish to change the title of a page, and you think it might not be uncontroversial, then please use the procedure at WP:RM for requesting a move and allowing for discussion before completing it. Thank you. -GTBacchus(talk) 02:18, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have copy-paste moved an article again. Please use WP:RM in the future. dab (𒁳) 17:59, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. As a member of the Wikipedia community, I would like to remind you of Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy for editors, which you appear to have violated at Max Clifford. My edit to the Max Clifford was ***not** meant to be vandalism, I was just trying to put up a defense for him which is surely what all good articles should do.

Hello, I am not sure why you removed the templates I had placed on Image:Dscf0861a.jpg and Image:Pond04.jpg with "Pond one" and "Pond two". This is neither a source nor is it copyright information. Please let me know what your reasoning for this was. I've retagged the images. --Strangerer (Talk) 15:43, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Little context in Anthony Wilson (guitarist)

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Anthony Wilson (guitarist), by Closedmouth (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Anthony Wilson (guitarist) is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Anthony Wilson (guitarist), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 02:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Valrhona

edit

Just placing a POV-tag on top of the article will lead nowhere. If you have complaints about lack of neutrality in the article about Valrhona, please motivate yourself.

Peter Isotalo 19:25, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I removed the POV-tag for now since the offending statement is covered by a citation and an argument for keeping the statement has been presented on the talkpage. If you still believe the article is in need of improvement, I'm happy to continue the discussion.

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Franz-kafka! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 46 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Corby (UK Parliament Constituency)

edit

The official name of the constituency since its creation has been 'Corby', and that won't change until Parliament says so. Some of the local parties have 'Corby and East Northamptonshire' in their names, but this is because they cover those two local government areas that approximate to the parliamentary constituency. The habit of the local MP referring to herself as 'the MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire' may be politically convenient, but is not accurate.
