Hello Patrick,
Your wiki article on Cognitive advantages of bilingualism was informative. However, when you discussed the crucial age for learning two languages, it made me think of how the cognitive processes would be for and individual who was learning a different language at an older age. For an improvement of the article, adding more research on that would be beneficial.

edit- I'm a bit busy with other stuff right now, but I will take a look soon. You might want to ask also at Wikipedia talk:German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board, where you'll find a larger audience of translators that might know more about the specific terms to use than me. Thanks for starting this project, and happy editing, Kusma (討論) 19:53, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Berliner Grenzübergänge
editHi, Patrick.
The source text was copied to the talk page for the English article. Only use that text to continue the translation to ensure consistency. Also, please review each other's translations and try to maintain a uniform style.
Is there some reason for not using the text directly from de:Berliner Grenzübergänge? E.g., has it been in flux? Anyway, I've pushed this along a bit. Chonak 07:13, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Chonak, thanks for pointing that out, as well as making those additions that were necessary. Technically, the translation can be done straight from the German article, but it could change at any time, which can make a good translation look like a complete mistranslation, that's why I brought that up, but it's not that crucial. Since you've brought this to my attention, though, I'm going to continue working on it. (Patrick 02:41, 2 June 2006 (UTC))
- Completed. Chonak 04:27, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Basic Law (Wikisource)
editGot any thoughts on the discussion at the Talk:Basic Law page? Chonak 07:22, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for reminding me, I actually have a few things to add, as well as expand the translation, check the talk page shortly, I will make updates. (Patrick 02:42, 2 June 2006 (UTC))
- Sorry, I'm bowing out on the Basic Law translation; the existing one really does look good enough to me. If you have any particular questions about some passage, I'd be willing to look it over and offer a second opinion. Anyway, there's plenty of other work to do. Chonak 05:50, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Sin taxes
edit- Generally speaking, most taxes on illicit drugs involve a stamp duty or something similar, where a stamp must be put on anything being transacted. In most jurisdictions, this is little more than an excuse to slap an additional penalty on persons who have been arrested - that is, someone caught can be charged for both possession and for failing to pay the duty on the transaction and punished for both. A few jurisdictions do allow for anonymous purchasing of the stamps, though. --DMG413 12:22, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

ADHD article
editHi Patrick, I have spent the last two nights re-writing and re-structuring the ADHD article. Please take a minute (or three) and read over it and tell me what you think. Please, post your response on the ADHD talk page. *Kat* 06:42, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll be happy to take care of this shortly. (Patrick 18:36, 31 May 2006 (UTC))

Germany announcement pages
editThank you for announcing your articles! I have just one minor thing to ask you: Could you use {{subst:date}} instead of {{date}}? The latter always displays the date at the time of viewing, not at the time you inserted the template. Thank you, Kusma (討論) 20:41, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, sure, sorry, I wasn't aware of that... I'd like to jump on board the GDR Project though, so let me know when everything's in place (Patrick 20:49, 13 June 2006 (UTC))
- Well, I could use some public support for that idea at the talk page of the WP:GSWN. I haven't started yet because nobody seemed to be interested. I'll think about it again, then, if I'm not the only one who thinks that might be a worthy project. I'll keep you informed of any progress I make. Kusma (討論) 21:31, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- Argh, {{subst:date}} has the same problems because we don't have recursive subst'ing :-( I think I'll change the format anyway so you can just sign on the announcement page and the Portal subpage will look like the one on Portal:Germany/Test3 with more space for articles and less for bragging and the dates. If you hate that idea, stop me at Portal talk:Germany. Kusma (討論) 22:21, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Offensive
editI have deleted material you have created as template or category with the message that a user is fuckable. This is not only already offensive [1] but is likely to be sexual harrassment. Please do not recreate this material. The only reason I have not blocked you is because this seems to be an aberration, not a habit. If any of this is recreated, or anything of a similar nature, then you will be blocked. I am also posting this on administrators noticeboard, if you have any dispute to make about my actions. Tyrenius 23:53, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Needless to say, I disagree with this. My response is on the administrators noticeboard. (Patrick 00:53, 15 July 2006 (UTC))
NOR
editWould you mind reverting back to Tom Harrison's version at NOR? You introduced a grammatical error, and then when I reverted to fix it, instead of leaving it, you've made another change, so that the page now talks about descriptive claim in the singular, when the plural is required. The grammar was correct as it was, as was the sense. The "accuracy of which is" .. is correct, because the verb refers to accuracy, not to claims. SlimVirgin (talk) 20:32, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Plagiarism (ADHD article)
editI see you didn't respond to my last post. Does this mean I have convinced you? Would you revert a deletion of the material? Or has your position simply not changed since your last post, leaving no need for another? William conway bcc 01:16, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Germany
editHi Freerick,
User:Badbilltucker has proposed creating a WikiProject for articles related to Germany. Since you seem to speak German pretty well, I was wondering if you would be interested in helping with this project. If you want to know more about the proposal you can check the temporary project page or the List of proposed projects.--CarabinieriTTaallkk 10:43, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
"Erased irrelevant quote"
editIn the Chernobyl article you as you put it: "(erased irrelevant quote regarding smoking-related deaths; replaced with new wording)"
That is completely unacceptable, not only did you remove a direct quote, you inserted a completely different statement, and left the reference as if the reference supported your statement. I am 'unhappy' about this.
The statement in no way irrelevant on the contrary you made it irrelevant.
- I didn't mean to patently change the content, but I felt that the quote didn't really flow well with the article, so I changed the wording to integrate the contents of the quote into the sentence. As it was written was how I interpreted the meaning of the quote. Don't you think the article would flow better if the quote would at least have a lead-in? (Patrick 07:36, 12 October 2006 (UTC))

Age category
editHello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:
- Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
- Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.
If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 13:11, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Spam in Camtasia Studio
editHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Camtasia Studio, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Camtasia Studio is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Camtasia Studio, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Strip games has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
