Request reason:

My IP has been blocked until 3 February 2025 by @Yamla, with the useless explanation "As per prior blocks". I have never been blocked prior to this. Please explain and advise. FrunkSpace (talk) 13:25, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

We need to know what your IP is in order to look into this. If you don't want to post it publicly, you may use WP:UTRS to make a private unblock request. 331dot (talk) 22:03, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I receive the following message when attempting to use UTRS: Your IP address or username has been banned from using UTRS. The banning administrator specified the following reason: "need to request unblock on user talk". The ban expires on 2025-01-17 15:23:27. If you contact UTRS admininstrators about this ban, please mention the following ban ID: #989. FrunkSpace (talk) 09:55, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Accept reason:

You should be good to go now. If not, please let us know! Yamla (talk) 11:28, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Given that my IP is required to look into this, and given that I am unable to appeal via UTRS, is my next (& only) course of action to post my IP here? That's fine, if so. I would like to know if my IP can then be deleted from "public" view thereafter?

I've been looking at other active appeals and my case, seemingly to me, is not like most others, which seem generally behaviour-related. I see no one else facing an unexplained IP ban which also affects their ability to use UTRS. That exacerbates my confusion.

I hadn't made an edit since December 2023 prior to my ban (which I assume was in Jan or Feb of this year?). I've been an infrequent contributor to the encyclopaedia for 16 years. I enjoy fixing typos and formatting errors as I read articles. I can't imagine what action triggered an IP ban. I have no knowledge of my IP being shared; my expertise on such things work is limited. FrunkSpace (talk) 19:51, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I gave you IP block exemption for a month. That should solve this in the short term. @Yamla: does this really need to be a hard block? It looks like some random residential IP range. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 01:13, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think it no longer needs to be a hard block. For privacy reasons, I can't modify it immediately but anyone with CU access here is welcome to modify it to a soft block at their convenience. Or alternatively, I'll do so in the next month. --Yamla (talk) 11:28, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much for your help @Yamla & @NinjaRobotPirate! :) I seem to be able to edit as normal once more. FrunkSpace (talk) 11:36, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the hassles, FrunkSpace. Happy editing! --Yamla (talk) 11:37, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
