Blocked as a sockpuppet
edit{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. The WordsmithTalk to me 22:30, 3 July 2024 (UTC)First request
editFugabus (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I just received a notification that I have been indefinitely blocked from editing. I deny having any link with the suspected sock and am appealing for a review of my block. I am Fugabus, and I have no other account on Wikipedia. Please kindly verify and review my block. I appreciate the fact this case of sockpuppetry is still "suspected" and not "comfirmed". Thank you for reviewing per my honest appeal. «fjuːgəbʌs» (talk) 15:44, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Simple denial is insufficient. You need to address the concerns raised at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Johnjupither. Yamla (talk) 19:20, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Greetings. While you reformulate your request, I'd like to provide a little insight and ask a follow-up question. First insight: Check User confirmed that your relationship with the prior socks did not relate to your IP, meaning we know you didn't switch accounts on the same device without changing your network connection/settings. But not much else. Second insight: you were blocked on behavioral grounds, so see also WP:MEAT though no admin has actually said so. Lastly a question to follow all this up: are you, do you know, do you have any relation with, and have you been collaborating or contributing with or through User:War_Term? Your responses might help you address the present block, or save us all time at another SPI. Cheers! JFHJr (㊟) 00:34, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
Hello JFHJR, I am just a volunteer on Wikipedia and I do what I do out of passion for writing and improvement of the English Wikipedia. I have no affiliation with anyone here including the War_Term. I am a lone editor. «fjuːgəbʌs» (talk) 18:02, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Yamla:,
- I have tried to comment on the w:en:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Johnjupither but it does not allow me. It says "This account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia" I'm perplexed right now. Please, help and maneuver. I really wish to defend myself properly there. «fjuːgəbʌs» (talk) 18:13, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- @FugabusYou were advised to address the concerns mentioned there. Obviously you can’t edit there, you need to post here. Doug Weller talk 18:29, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Doug Weller: I am the subject matter here. I have been finding it difficult to understand how I relate to the user 'Johnjupither.' I am not related to the account per se. I am a different editor who works to improve Wikipedia's scope and coverage on topics I feel are not yet generally covered properly. Although I have been blocked, I feel bad, and I believe things will get better after an investigation. «fjuːgəbʌs» (talk) 18:32, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

Re-appeal for an Unblock
edit
Fugabus (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I am blocked on grounds on sockpuppetry, and I wish to clear my name and appeal again for an unblock per guidance of @Doug Weller:. I am an editor with an interest in politics and war, and since I joined Wikipedia, I have primarily edited within those scopes. I have found myself most interested in Biafra-related pages. I saw many opportunities for editing them because they were not properly covered on Wikipedia. Simon Ekpa seems to be the leading figure in this area, and I have tried my best to expand the article.
It's worrisome that the area I have edited most has been vandalized or edited by sockpuppets in the past. To be frank, I have no association with any other editor on Wikipedia. I am Fugabus, and I have only one account. I appreciate that CU confirmed this after Bbb23's investigation.
Biafra is an expanding area, and sources to improve the drafts I have created are in the public domain. I stopped editing because I was not healthy enough and took a break, but upon seeing the notification that I was blocked, I became worried. At first, I thought it was because of my inactivity, but I later found out it was because I was suspected of being a sockpuppet. I strongly deny this and therefore, appeal to be unblocked.
Cheers.Notes:
- In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
- Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

I have only one account. I appreciate that CU confirmed this after Bbb23's investigation
. RoySmith found you to be unrelated to UniBrill. Vanamonde93 found your connection to Johnjupither to be inconclusive. Your statement that a CU confirmed that you have only one account is incorrect.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:23, 30 July 2024 (UTC)- As the blocking administrator, I believed the behavioral evidence was enough to show a connection. Aside from the overlapping SPA interest, there's the time this account reactivated days after a confirmed sock was blocked. I also saw strong similarities in language and edit summaries. However, if any administrator does their own investigation and comes to a different conclusion, I have no objection to them handling the unblock request as they see fit. No need to consult me first. The WordsmithTalk to me 17:01, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Bbb23 and @The Wordsmith
- I have read your comments and still assume good faith while the investigation is yet to be concluded. I decided to reply now because it's already been over 16 days (2 weeks +) since I started exercising patience, waiting for a favorable response. Perhaps no other administrator has seen this unblock request. I look forward to hearing your response per the status of my unblock request.
- Thank you. «fjuːgəbʌs» (talk) 16:40, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately there's a large backlog in Unblock Requests, like there is for many areas of Wikipedia administration. I've confirmed that it is visible on the list of requests, it just may take a while for an administrator to get to it. It does not mean the request has been declined, just that it is still sitting in the queue waiting for an available administrator. The WordsmithTalk to me 17:16, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ultimately I find there to be enough behavioral similarity with the sockmaster, and also to accounts linked to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/UniBrill, such that the block appears appropriate. I would, however, be willing to unblock if you accept a condition that you are topic-banned from Simon Ekpa, appealable to WP:AN at a later date after making substantial constructive edits to other topics. signed, Rosguill talk 17:35, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Rosguill
- A CU found me unrelated to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/UniBrill. I am sorry you didn't found me unrelated. Please, I would appreciate if you make me understand the last sentence of yours: "I would, however, be willing to unblock if you accept a condition that you are topic-banned from Simon Ekpa, appealable to WP:AN at a later date after making substantial constructive edits to other topics."
- I didn't really construe the condition. I wish to understand before I accept. I have read through the content in the wiki link but didn't quite grasp the whole essence.
- Can you please break it down for me? «fjuːgəbʌs» (talk) 06:32, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Essentially, you would be expected to avoid all article content and discussions relating to Simon Ekpa or things he is involved with. You would otherwise be free to edit. Violations of this restriction would be enforced by reinstating the block. You would be able to appeal the topic-ban to the community at WP:AN after several months of constructive, problem-free editing to other topics. signed, Rosguill talk 13:11, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- So, do you accept? * Pppery * it has begun... 17:51, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ok. Yes, I accept. I will need you to be my mentor as I amend my edits going forward. I pledge to be constructive as I can. Thank you. «fjuːgəbʌs» (talk) 00:56, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
