Speedy deletion nomination of Olu Oyesanya
editA tag has been placed on Olu Oyesanya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Help me request
editHi Funkeleye,
I saw your help me request and decided to respond here. First off I moved your draft copy to a personal sandbox spot so that it wouldn't get written over by other users :) You can find it now at User:Funkeleye/sandbox and can edit it there like a normal article. The first concern I notice is that the article you created a couple days ago (see the message above this) was deleted for copyright reasons and it looks like your draft is very similar. The issue is that it looks like the text is somewhere else on the web and we have to make sure you have the right to use some of it. If you do have the right (it is your text somewhere else for example) there are instructions in the deletion message above this that explain on how to donate copyrighted material.
Regarding references it is always a bit complicated but you may want to take a look at our Reliable Source guidelines as well as our Notability guidelines to make sure everything fits. If you have question please let me know or you can put another {{helpme}} message here. James (T C) 20:58, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
{{helpme}} I've emailed the consent letter for my article to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and for text permissions to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, I also added Template:OTRS pending to the article in my sandbox. What should my next step be, how would I know that I've received permission from Wikipedia and how can I move the article out of my sandbox when I'm ready to do so? (Funkeleye (talk) 20:21, 22 August 2010 (UTC))
- They will email you back when the permission has been confirmed. It may take several weeks, depending on the number of current pending permissions letters. When it is confirmed, you may re-request help with {{helpme}} here and ask another user to move the page out if you are unable to. —fetch·comms 20:28, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

How do I add the date of death (25 October 1999) and the place of death (Shagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria) for Olu Oyesanya, I'm unsure of the procedure to edit the page, and if I need references for it? Also I want to get Citation verification for my reference. I discovered that the link to one of the references I placed have had their web address moved as a result of archiving, while the second link does not have a current website anymore. What's the procedure for adding the new link for the reference, It's not "Towards a Hitch-free NUJ Delegates Congress". ThisDayOnline.com. Retrieved 2010-12-23 anymore? The article has been archived to the following websites - http://web.archive.org/web/20030518225736/http://www.thisdayonline.com/archive/2003/01/11/20030111med02.html or http://archive.is/0OHvb Can I use hardcopy references as well? Funkeleye (talk) 01:41, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, you needd references to add someone's date and place of death. Otherwise our readers couldn't verify that the content is correct. I have updated the reference; the citation template has "archiveurl=" and "archivedate=" parameters for just this purpose. Huon (talk) 02:15, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

Help me! How to remove article needs additional citations for verification and duplicate citation lines
editThis help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
Please help me with removing the tag which says "This article needs additional citations for verification". I also put in the additional citation from a reliable source which proves Chief Olu Oyesanya was the founder of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, but I've ended up adding it twice in line 1 and 4 in the reflist. How can I correct this too?
